  1. Noticed four so far including a 'Normandy Saints'. I think there's around 11,000 England fans out there officially.
  2. Indeed, downtown Southampton was probably a massive culture shock from her Winchester surrounds, Glasgow will knock her socks off!
  3. To be fair, he’s never claimed to be football savvy, he put his trust in people he thought did but acknowledges he got it wrong by now putting Spors in charge of such matters. This has lead to additional, (hopefully) improvements but only time will tell. I’m content with how things currently stand and my optimism has returned.
  4. Some of us like the idea as it reverts back to the traditional colours we had with dark blue shorts for just about the first half of our existence. We only changed to black as they had a problem with the blue shorts fading too quickly in the fifties. It would also make us unique in this country for a team in (mostly) red and white stripes. With quarters 1890-94, halves 1894-96 and then (for over half a century) stripes 1896-1950s.
  5. Yep, entirely agree, that was a great Forest side to watch, Robertson was outstanding - I was lucky enough to watch the likes of Paine and Davies in my early days going to the Dell. Davies got both goals in my first ever evening game in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea (71-72), unfortunately started to fade the following season but vivid memories of him leaping and heading a ball with genuine ferocity.
  6. As most of your previous posts are pretty much on-the-money then I'll take this as just about sealed.

  8. If it is P&O then blue lettering would be fine if we’re reverting back to our traditional blue shorts at long last. We had blue in our kit long before the “salmon pink” skates.
  9. The photo's legit but from several years ago when he arrived to sign as a player. Rangers and Leicester fans are both fighting NOT to have Russell Martin. "nobody wants me....."
  10. We were buying tickets in the cheap Itchen/Chapel corner section in our last Championship season and the Dancing Man had a bar in the Chapel back then too.
  11. Great first post. Reckon we'll get a few skates signing up on here this season
  12. I’m quite comfortable where we are now going forward. I can make a distinction between Dragan Solak and Sport Republic and reasonably content since he took more control and with those now making the decisions. But if he really wants to sell up then possibly more turbulent times ahead.
  13. Very Eric Cantona-esque...
  14. I'm onboard with this, thought it was going to be Rohl from all the chat but Will Still's approach sounds an improvement on the recent sufferings - on paper at least. For now, my vigour has been reinvigored! But I can never get this little beauty out of my head from Les Reed describing what awaited with Pellegrino "exciting, attacking, high-intensity football"...............
  15. I might tune into Solent on Sunday for the last few minutes of commentary just to hear Adam Blackmore say ”…some people are on the pitch! They think it’s all over! It is now….thank fuck for that!!!”
  16. True. Just had a scoot over there, not happy, some are clinging to a post from a (as suggested) reasonable ITK that it's all bullshit while others are trying to arrange a protest against RM away at Bournemouth this weekend. I can't believe he hasn't learned anything from his PL experience (although, fucking unbelievably, he did confess he'd underestimated the strength and intensity once promoted) enough respected pros have criticised his tactics and inability/will to adapt. If it is him he'd better get off to a good start.
  17. I’ve just listened to the Total Saints Podcast and they were suggesting it may be shown on Sky.
  18. Spurs v Man Utd…mmm…could they both lose? That would be best.
  19. They should certainly scrap the ‘lap of (call it what you like)’ this season and just group up in the centre circle on the final whistle and collectively applaud all the fans (remaining) to show some appreciation of the commitment shown by supporters selling out home and away every wretched week. It’s been horrendous.
  20. "6ft 2, eyes of blue, Jimmy Steele is after you, la-la-la............" OK not a manager but one of my favourite ginges (even if he did do that one fook up that cost us a semi-final in Europe)
  21. That was a bit of a crazy day and a busy trip back to the station after. There was a bit of unrest at halftime, I remember a couple of police horses coming onto the bottom of the terrace to quell a bit of agitation! Three years before we had taken 10,000 up there in the FA Cup, another lively occasion so probably added to the atmosphere in '79. Goodison will be a mad atmosphere this weekend, fantastic noise when they're up for it but a bit different to what you usually get week in, week out other than for the real big games (same as Anfield). They'll certainly be up for this one.
  22. Just watched that from 41 mins (up to them talking Man U) and was a very good listen. Dyche said just about everything myself (and probably a majority of Saints fans) agree with and put into better words that many of us have already been saying. Couldn’t disagree with anything he said...can we send a link to Rasmus and Co…?
  23. They secretly want fans to invade the pitch so they have a valid reason (and blame the fans) to cancel the traditional last home game of the season lap of…ahem… honour. Could be a bit embarrassing for them in a near deserted stadium with a handful of happy-clappers and another small rabble of spotty ‘erberts screaming foul-mouthed abuse.
  24. You're right, took around 5,000 up there, was a lively day.
  25. Most likely imo. Just sitting on the land until it becomes worth more for the many thousands of new homes needed in this country. Then they’ll cash in. Goodson is just on death row.
