  1. There’s been plenty of fans saying they’d be happy to win the league but stay in the Championship where it’s more exciting, well, not a million miles from that. I’m happy enough to watch another season where, hopefully, we’re winning more often than losing and in the mix again come the season end. I’ll renew my membership but match prices with a ST are still pretty good and if we want to stay strong there’s no use in starving the club of funds for the season ahead.
  2. If delayed ala Man City, very possible 🤪 they were going on the average lifespan of a manager at one club being around 18 months
  3. Saw a reasonable theory on the UI about this, it was suggested that we've appointed top legal bods in an attempt to continually delay the proceedings, much as City and the like have done. The thinking that by the time any sanctions against Tonda are filed, he may well have already moved on, be it that it was a successful season and headhunted or just contract up.
  4. I think he'll do alright there, similar to how he did for us in the promotion season. Surely he must have learnt and moved on from us and Rangers and moved on from the dull, pointless passing for the sake of it......? Even if he hasn't Leicester should have too much for L1 sides. But you can't ignore the long unbeaten run and he got us up. You also can't ignore, despite all that, some tedious football, losing LC first round at Gillingham in a shocking performance, thrashed at Sunderland and so poor home to Leicester soon after. Superb first halves away at Swansea and Cardiff then shockers after the break. Then later in the season the home games against Hull, Millwall and Stoke were shockingly bad and the away at Blackburn and...of course...Leicester again were as bad as it got. Maybe they should quickly ditch him if he gets them promoted.
  5. Should have been a bit of a promotion party........probably a bit soon for a stadium fight really, maybe somewhere like the O2 Guildhall first may have been better (like the Steve McCarthy (RIP) fight when the other fella's mum jumped in the ring and attacked him 😁). Unfortunately also clashes with Paul Weller at Southampton Sessions that was always going to be popular and I think the IOW festival is on too. Hopefully gets a late surge in ticket sales.
  6. It’s certainly something to think about….the charity and taxpayer thieves got promoted and won an FA Cup with players they couldn’t afford and shouldn’t have had like the ones that turned the FA Cup game at St Mary’s when we were in L1 and well on top of the (then) PL cheats. Would be sweet wouldn’t it…..
  7. Whether it's to be believed it will happen or not, this is part of the joint MOU between SFC and Southampton CIty Council that was on the SCC planning portal regarding the stadium in the overall Itchen Waterside redevelopment: 'Expand the current footprint of St Mary's Stadium to allow future growth of the stadium (minimum 45,000 capacity stadium for football events and minimum 50,000 capacity for concerts/music/other entertainment events)' Even if it progresses it's probably many years away, the wharf leases go to about 2040 so unless they can be relocated/compulsory purchased then little is happening any time soon.
  8. I agree, he’s a consummate professional so would just do as instructed, when he had that spell of playing further forward he looked at his most effective. Maybe he was stifled a bit by instruction. Bragg is one player I’m looking forward to see progress this season, think he’s got huge potential so don’t want his path blocked at all.
  9. Yep that raised an eyebrow when reading Blackmore's comments, JWP frustratingly didn't do that enough when here. Can't really see (or the need for) it happening, if it somehow did he'd get my support, It might rekindle his form at a club he was comfortable at and he's surely a decent talent for Championship level. But those wages.....
  10. Agree with many others about the flat build up to this World Cup, so much about this tournament is just crap. I felt the same about Qatar but did find myself getting into it more than I thought I would as it went on. Don't know how younger fans feel about it today, World Cups and FA Cup finals felt so special when growing up. I was around for 1966 but remember nothing about it (although I was given a World Cup Willie glove puppet!), 1970 was the first time I became aware of it and really started to get into football. There was something exciting hearing commentary that sounded like it was coming down a ropey phone line that made everything seem so far away and exotic. As I was young and just so into anything football, the 1974 is my favourite ever WC closely followed by 1978 (even though England failed to reach either, I was devastated). 1982 and 1990 are also up there as most-liked. Collecting Esso World Cup coins, small player bust figures and filling Panini sticker albums were all the rage in our house in the early seventies.
  11. Sad news and condolences to all family and friends. RIP
  12. The old Eyal Berkovitz chant would fit quite well... "Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, Born is the King of Is-ra-el"
  13. Great news if Peretz is secured but I think he'd have even struggled in a RM side with a defence in constant disarray in front of him. I was mostly happy with Ramsdale for us but, yeah, Peretz gets the nod for me now.
  14. Maybe he doesn't fancy following us around the country commentating games next season as it may get a bit heated around. He's a Villa fan so likely won't be sharing our siege mentality or fancy batting off all the gobshites we'll no doubt encounter.
  15. The Teeside Squealers 0 v Southampton 1 nobody likes a grass
  16. Can you see cunts like Winter, etc. banging on if it’d been say Millwall or (last season) Leeds guilty of this? They wouldn’t because they know they’d get lynched, we’ve been seen as too nice over the years and an easy hit. Fuck ‘em.
  17. I think that may be setting our sights a little high. Forget that the 3 relegated PL sides will likely be battling away at the top, if our side is as depleted as I think it could well be then another half dozen or so current Championship teams will prove to be a bit of a bugger too.
  18. Just seen the statement, I kind of agree with 'Blakey' responding to Adam Blackmore. I think the lack of a fans apology in it could very well be (maybe wishful thinking...) that a separate gesture with regards reduced cost of upcoming season tickets alongside an apology to go with it. I also believe it's a bit restrained due to the FA action that's still to come.
  19. Done quite a few of the Greek Islands, love ‘em, and Kefalonia for first time last year, stayed on the edge of Skala. We like to jump on a boat and skip around the coastline. Fiskado worth a visit, also took a day trip out of the capital Argostoli, cracking time with 2 or 3 stops. We pulled up at a place called (I think) White Rocks for a swim in crystal clear turquoise waters - I’m mid-60s but still a sucker for diving off the top of the boats. Will be going back to Kefalonia, loved it, and all the islands and they seem just great people.
  20. Logisitics - time, cost, travel, accommodation. Penalties is the only way.
  21. Yep, I clearly didn't word that too well, I should have just said the potential of promotion (that I feel we would have had a very good chance against Hull in the final) and all the rewards, financial and status, that would have resulted.
  22. What a shit situation the club have found themselves in. If Dragan was really completely unaware of all this then he must be fookin' furious. The probable loss of £200m+, sponsors, reputation and now so much extra work to be done in a very short space of time just to settle things down. We seem to have taken all these sanctions (and likely more to follow) a bit too passively, is there more shit in the background and we've cut a deal with the EFL to just accept our punishment or face more damning evidence? I'm still clinging to the thought that we may yet have that ace up our sleeve and will soon fight back kicking and screaming.
  23. I think that would go nice with (a long-awaited by some) dark navy shorts and white socks (as it would with the previous red suggestion too)
  24. I’m mostly giving the football a swerve at the mo so only just read this. That’s a very good summary imo. I’ve said before that it feels like we’ve been used as a bit of an experiment whilst they try to reinvent football but constantly fail. I know he’s the chairman and the buck ultimately stops with him but I believe Dragan Solak is mostly guilty of putting too much trust in the laps of chancers, he stepped up and took action after the Will Steel debacle and it finally looked to be working but those chancers have now fucked up all the good stuff. What a shitshow.
