As I understand it the Aggregate companies lease those riverside plots which actually have another 10 years or so on the current arrangements but the idea is to try and relocate them before then. One such plant has recently set up in the docks, maybe step up Dibden Bay? I occasionally have a browse on this site which is pretty good for seeing what’s going on or planned for Southampton - there’s one or two informed posters on there (including at least one city councillor) https://www.skyscrapercity.com/forums/southampton-developments.4534/ I did notice MLG has posted on there about the stadium! https://www.skyscrapercity.com/forums/cultural-sporting-and-entertainment-venues.218/

First I’ve heard of that, the flats are still current on the SCC planning portal - probably will be ditched eventually like many others plans and I’m sure the club would be standing by… For a city with a river running almost through the middle it certainly has missed out on using it as a focal point like most other big cities. All around the world most of the best cities make it a major feature and leisure attraction. I believe eventually the city vision is for one long riverside promenade from Ocean Village through to St Denys

Just had a look on the OS to see if anything about renewing memberships (probably not until ST sales have slowed) and noticed that they've got the "last remaining MEN'S season tickets" on sale. Do they have separate seats for women?

I think that was definitely the case back around 2000 but (could be wrong) I think things may have changed now. Would be nice to have a more Dell-like tightness! I also seem to remember reading something back then about restrictions with the rake of the terracing but that appears to have changed as Everton's new stadium has some of the steepest new stands. Man City are doing similar with their new top tier at one end and Spurs looks fairly steep too.

Dave Merrington always has my respect and admiration. He did a fantastic job bringing through the youth, a job he loved and excelled at. But was shoehorned into the first team manager's job, something you felt he didn't really want and he was later dumped for Graham Souness. All at a time his wife was seriously ill. In an ideal world we'd dig down to add more rows that way and bring the stands closer to the pitch but, being right alongside the River Itchen, we'd soon be hitting the water table. If there was a way to tank the excavation and it was an engineering possibility then that could add a few thousand. That's a 'no' then. Even if it was possible, I guess cost and time would be an obstacle and certainly wouldn't get it done in a close season!

I agree, I was just seeing it from the clubs perspective for a moment and how they may counter the fakes. And if they just charged a reasonable price in the first place then many more fans wouldn't look to send money to China!

They'll be plenty of "mugs" that won't buy the shirt... I'm not a shirt-wearer myself (and yep, I've still been called a mug in the past...) so it's not a biggie for me but I prefer to watch my team playing in a kit that doesn't hurt my eyes. And as football clubs are being ripped off every year by Chinese copies I wouldn't rule it out that some will be deliberately 'leaking' incorrect new kits so that the bootleggers start banging out clearly wrong and obvious fakes.

We've never given 4k for league games, away fans only get a max of 3k in the PL and we only have to offer 2k in the Championship (we'll probably offer 3k if needed as it looks like that section can't be easily segregated). But reports are saying sales are going well, even if all ST aren't sold for the start of the season I'm sure they'd sell the remainder at Xmas as half-season tickets (like the old days) if we're going well.

I don’t think I’m the only one but I’ve got almost full confidence in Dragan Solak, I believe he’s a genuine fella. I’m quite content with how things are now changing, just feels right.

Looks just a cheap knock-off version of this (which is far better). Red stripe down the sides and no differing shades, trust this is more likely.

I think the official attendance was just under 30,000 but that's because they had to shut the gates as so many were finding ways of getting in without paying and not clicking through the turnstiles, they lost count! I remember it being 'guesstimated' there were probably around 35,000 rammed in with thousands more locked outside. That ramped up even more when they opened the gates towards the end of the match to let people leave which very few did but just allowed many more to pile in. That's why fans were spilling over onto the pitch before the final whistle.

My old man was a docker, as well as my grandad and a couple of uncles, none of them stewards but plenty were. And there was the well known ‘Dockies Gate’. And while the stewards did don white coats back then it was also a thing for fans to for a while, decorated with your club’s colours. Most famous at the Dell for the butchers coat was, unusually, a Millwall fan ‘deaf Tony’ who regularly stood under the Toomers.

Possibly, we were in the crowd surging on from the Lower West. We’d queued from 11:00 in the morning to get in! Kick-off was 7:30pm.

Some great photos on this thread - not my photos but these three are up there. The Milton in all its glory mid-70s, some fan playing the last post as the last few walked out of the Archers for the very last time in 2001 and the 7,000 at the San Siro in 2016

It’s the Germans, they don’t like him. They got history.

Noticed four so far including a 'Normandy Saints'. I think there's around 11,000 England fans out there officially.

Indeed, downtown Southampton was probably a massive culture shock from her Winchester surrounds, Glasgow will knock her socks off!

The Benefits of the Sport Republic Group Model (Split)

To be fair, he’s never claimed to be football savvy, he put his trust in people he thought did but acknowledges he got it wrong by now putting Spors in charge of such matters. This has lead to additional, (hopefully) improvements but only time will tell. I’m content with how things currently stand and my optimism has returned. -
Some of us like the idea as it reverts back to the traditional colours we had with dark blue shorts for just about the first half of our existence. We only changed to black as they had a problem with the blue shorts fading too quickly in the fifties. It would also make us unique in this country for a team in (mostly) red and white stripes. With quarters 1890-94, halves 1894-96 and then (for over half a century) stripes 1896-1950s.

Yep, entirely agree, that was a great Forest side to watch, Robertson was outstanding - I was lucky enough to watch the likes of Paine and Davies in my early days going to the Dell. Davies got both goals in my first ever evening game in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea (71-72), unfortunately started to fade the following season but vivid memories of him leaping and heading a ball with genuine ferocity.

As most of your previous posts are pretty much on-the-money then I'll take this as just about sealed.

If it is P&O then blue lettering would be fine if we’re reverting back to our traditional blue shorts at long last. We had blue in our kit long before the “salmon pink” skates.
