I honestly reckon that the club expected Stewart to finally be the main man this season so they’ve half arsed it with the Downs signing, complacently thinking we had enough up front now Stewart was back fit so have signed downs to be a bit part player, which is absolutely fucking ridiculous but would explain why we only spent 8m on a position the club desperately needed. Stewart scoring against Arsenal probably lulled these complacent clowns into thinking he was gonna be the main man this season so we only need a substitute striker to beef the options up, rather than an actual top striker for this level: kind of makes sense now in their fucked up way of thinking. whilst these utter losers are in charge we will never fully return to being a regular premier league club, if we ever return at all under them. Our 2 main signings so far look like bench players at best in Quarshie and Downs. I mean we may aswell have kept Tall Paul as sign Downs, who although it’s still early days, looks absolutely fucking useless. His career record to date had me a bit concerned when we signed him, 11 goals in the German second division wasn’t exactly going to excite anyone. And he’s now showing us why . What’s even more odd than those who follow martins progress just to criticise, are those who spend time blindly defending him and getting personally offended by the criticism of an ex manager that they feel the need to consistently fight his corner. I think overall, our unrivalled level of shitness last season has duped most of the country into thinking the premier league is now impossible for newly promoted teams to survive. Throw in a very poor Leicester aswell and everyone has just assumed the gulf is too much to bridge: it isn’t. Yes it’s very tough, but with the right tactics and game plan, a togetherness in the squad and some physical presence, You can survive. I also think our “efforts” last season have also been used as a reminder and benchmark about how NOT to run a club when you’ve been promoted. Let’s be honest, the vast majority of us thought we’d lose today, and fairly comfortably, but to just come here as sitting ducks and just be there for the taking with zero effort or care just sums this lot up. The low standards currently at this club are fucking sickening. Clearly the players think it’s job done for the season now after getting that point last week, so they can return to be as shit and putting in as little effort and desire as possible now for the remaining 2 games. We lose anyway, I’m not saying go gung ho but surely there’s a balance whereby we can set up to sit deep and counter a little bit surely and have our own attacking plan at certain opportunities during games, instead of just meekly hanging on for dear life every game and accepting narrow defeats when we inevitably concede, with no idea of how we’re going to score ourselves. It’s a total waste of time and terrible viewing. If we were capable defensively of getting 0-0 draws I’d be all for it - but we’re not. The results to date prove that Let’s be honest at half time how many of us expected the score to finish 2-0 or 3-0, or more. Probably the vast majority. Rusk’s “tactics” seem to be limited solely to keeping the score down in every game. The lack of ambition in games is ridiculous. Is this what it’s come to? Laughable. These last 3 games were the big chance to get past 11 points, but as usual we showed zero fight or urgency, or belief, bravery, you name it. Just meek acceptance of defeat as per usual this season. It’s a bloody insult to the fans who travel every week to be served up utter shite like that against a side who’ve lost their last 9 home games without scoring. Clearly ending on 11 points is absolutely fine for this lot, judging by the way they played today.
