The 14 players Arsenal had cost just under 150 million compared to 14 million for ours
-
Pretty big if. They're most likely finishing position is 7th. Still, this attitude worked out really well for Steve Clarke
-
And what happens to Everton next year when they have to find a replacement for the 25+ million rated Lukaku considering they won't be able to afford to buy him? In the same way West Brom had to this year?

We're a very different club to Blackburn. It can't be argued that in the situation they were in he was a very good appointment at the time. I'd like to think if he has any brain whatsoever he won't be looking to replicate his Blackburn model here. We have a pretty clear identity as a club and have done for a while. I'm hopeful he would appreciate that when it comes to making managerial appointments

Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 2-2 SAINTS
Verbal Kint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It's massively frustrating. Sunderland x2, West ham, Aston villa, even stoke away are games we've completely dominated and not won. That's 11 points thrown away through wasting chances. With those points we'd be up there with Everton challenging for the Champions league. And on the flip side i can't recall a game this season where we've got something and thought "we were lucky today", except possibly first day of the season at Albion where we got a soft penalty late on. Frustrating -
Great post on Pompey Online: "When I renewed my season ticket this year it was with a feeling of hope and excitement about the new "Era" that this club was about to embark. Improvements all round on and off the pitch, a real hope that this was the start of something special. Half the season gone and yesterdays game against Mansfield in my opinion just a complete farce, on and off the pitch. The stadium announcer asking for noise from the South Stand, The Milton End then the North End, OK a simple mistake. Then we had a one minute applause for two of Pompey's legends, one minute between the two and not even a minutes silence, pathetic and an insult. I needed to use the toilet facilities and I can only describe it as absolutely disgusting and was unable to do so. I would have liked a hot drink during the second half because I was freezing but the bar was shut, why? This is 2014. On the pitch was also a joke. "And the Pompey man of the match is " well you know the rest. I did however find it amusing the way all our defenders stood and admired the way that Mansfield goal was scored. So halfway through the season and already decided not to renew next year. Rant over."

If only we'd bought Johan Elmander and Martin Olsson...
-
Thanks for that

Our wage bill must be close to maximum at the moment. Lee, Guly, Martin, Barnard and Forte all have contracts expiring in the summer. We then have 18 months left for Hooiveld, Fox and Sharp. Must be at least 100k a week in wages right there. Get them off the books and we should be able to bring in 2 or 3 quality additions
-
Because they're so desperate they might be prepared to double his wages? If true, nobody should begrudge him the move
-
We still don't know what has actually been said. Thevman has suggested the quote in the press isn't all there is to the story. As it happens though i don't think it really matters what was said. I seriously doubt either Lallana or the club care about the comment. What they do care about are his refereeing performances in the last few games involving us. He's a **** ref (as you've admitted) and they are simply using this "offensive comment" as a means of 1) keeping him away form our matches if possible and 2) ensuring there is a bigger spotlight on him for the next time he does ref one of our games. Not too dissimilar to him going back to Goodison Park for the first time in 6 years and unsurprisingly not giving a late penalty against Everton
-
He's nowhere near good enough and turns 21 in the next couple of weeks. He'll be released in the summer when his contract is up
-
All well and good but Everton will have to replace Lukaku in the summer and West Brom have found out it isn't that easy to do...
-
Davis Clyne Yoshida Fonte Fox Schneiderlin Reed Ward-Prowse Lambert Ramirez Gallagher That gives some of the players who have played a lot of games recently a rest and gives Reed and Gallagher some playing time. Tough game but that team should have enough
-
I find it amazing people can come out with that. He's 18 years old. 18! He isn't the finished article but has so much potential it is scary. Like any other player he will have spells of good and bad form but 99% of the time i watch him i'm amazed he's only 18. He plays with great maturity
-
He'd be absolutely perfect for us. A top class centre half who could cover left back. Would enable us to offload both JH and DF as well
-
All i have heard from the players and manager all season is about finishing in the top 4. How do you think the likes of Lovren and Lallana will feel if they see our best players sold, particularly to clubs in the same league? I doubt they'll want to hang around for very long
-
Whilst that fee is very difficult to turn down, it's going to send out a very bad message to the rest of the squad
-
There were 3 players playing today who are quite clearly nowhere near good enough for this league. Everyone knows who they are. If we have any aspirations of being a top 8 side we need to bring in a left back, centre half and a goalkeeper in January pretty urgently. In reality we have a squad of 15 players good enough and we need 20 minimum. Really is that simple
-
I really doubt if it were to happen the standing tickets would be much cheaper unfortunately
-
That's what makes his interview so stupid. He might be able to move 1 or 2 out and get a couple of loans or frees in, but wholesale changes there won't be. All he's doing is slaughtering players he'll be relying on to keep them up. 10 days to save their futures? 'I ain't aving it'. Clown
