Trevor Hebberd. Solid though unspectacular player in several positions, so was a natural substitute in the days when only one was allowed. Second halves of games at the Dell were often punctuated by calls of "Bring on Hebberd!", quickly followed by "Christ, Hebberd, you're shít!" when he actually got on the pitch.

I really don't think that's the word you meant to use there...

Both Hancock and Mordaunt were talking about the Queen Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, I believe.

Unless my memory's playing tricks, Seymour Pierce and Keith Harris have had a fair amount of involvement with Saints over the years. They were certainly retained to find a buyer during the Lowe/Wilde era (and, I think, for some time before that). They also turned up with a bid for the club just as Markus' purchase was about to complete, even threatening legal action to allow their bid to be considered. I don't remember whether Harris was personally involved in this phantom consortium, or just acting as its mouthpiece, but I do recall mutterings at the time that said consortium included one Rupert Lowe. Maybe somebody will remember better than I do. Either way, I love the fact that the head of a firm which was signally unsuccessful in finding a buyer for a going concern is now stepping up to buy a dead loss...

Not sure they'd be able to count that high, even with the extra fingers...

I like the way that everybody's looking straight at the camera apart from Mick Channon, who seems to be listening to a racing tip from someone out of shot. Great photo, great days.

And how much did Markus need to spend on a new ground and a new training ground? Even at £1 PFC would not represent good value, as the amount that needs to be spent to get their infrastructure anywhere near to even Championship standard is so vast.

As long as Alpine's still posting you can only ever be second in that particular race. However, for a suitable consideration I could put you on ignore, then you'd get one ignorer which Alpine hasn't got. For added effect I'll even ask other posters not to quote you every now and then.

Well, it's Danny Kaye playing the role of Walter Mitty - all very fitting I must say!

I agree. I think that at the very least we'll find that all of Darren's decisions will be tangible. That can only be a good thing.

I know just the person!

Others have already mentioned the gaping holes in this - the fact that the rate of pledge conversions has nothing to do with a case which doesn't even involve the PDT, etc - but the bit I've emboldened caught my eye. What, exactly, made the judge aware of this urgency? Could it have been the fact that the party bringing the case in the first instance promptly sought an adjournment the minute the thing actually came to court?
-
Just what I was thinking. A quick example: "...and if an agreement has not been reached, then the court will allocate time to a hearing, if the two parties have not reached agreement." Sorry, not sure if that's clear enough - what happens if the parties haven't reached an agreement?

As you'll see at the end of any French film: Fin

That is just so splendidly laughable. They have no choice but to promote - and believe - their own hype. After all, what else have they got? I've always found the posts on here from Pompey fans (Mack and Mero apart) very revealing in that sense. Read them and it's abundantly clear that their mythology is all that remains to them - they may not have the numbers, but they're the loudest fans ever; they may be in the doldrums right now but they're really a massive club; yes, they may have got themselves deep in the shít, but all their woes and misfortunes can be laid squarely at someone else's door; they're fighting against the odds (and the authorities, and anyone else you can think of), in spite of having a squad which any other League One club would envy; the numbers signing up to the PDT may be feeble, but it's still somehow the biggest thing of its type ever in the whole world. And on, and on, ad nauseam. Or, more precisely, ad hilarium. For a lot of them, that's it. If they don't believe, they have nothing.

A day short of his 92nd birthday too. RIP Dave. [h=5]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faJE92phKzI[/h] Can't post that as a video for some reason, so just follow the link...

Not many of them there then...

Muskle, surely?

You're assuming an ability to add up, or at least to do so in straight lines. Bit of a schoolboy error, if you'll forgive me for saying so...

Synopsis or synecdoche.

Brilliant comics - I remember them well from the time, though the only thing i actually own is a compilation book released a few years back. I've heard of a werewolf, but a werepig???

So what you're saying is that if someone were to take out a contract on you, Saints will start winning loads of games? I think that sounds eminently reasonable.

Only that the £30K isn't likely to be in the bank any more...
