  1. Yes, I'm aware of that - but does it prevent them from announcing the signing on their official site? He's an Ipswich player till the end of June, but if he's going to Pompey surely they're at liberty to say so?
  2. The whole situation with Norris looks a little odd to me. It seems he's signed, and the News have reported it, complete with quotes from Cotterill. But their article states that it won't be officially announced until the 1st July, and a glance at P*mpey's own web site (I felt dirty doing it, but it was for a good cause) confirms this. There's no mention of Norris at all. And Cotterill's comments in the News are that Norris has "agreed to come here" rather than that he's actually put pen to paper. Now I'm not saying that Norris hasn't signed, but it does all seem a bit strange. Has he agreed verbally, but is still waiting for something better to come along? Hard to say but, like everything else at the wrong end of the M27, it just doesn't look right.
  3. Is that tomorrow in the same sense as those "Free Beer Tomorrow" signs you used to see in pubs?
  4. In which case he's probably got a severe case of psittacosis...
  5. So an assumption is all it is then. And it's based on another assumption - that rape is about sex and sexual attraction. Which it isn't.
  6. They should never have sacked Avram. He was doing a great job.
  7. Maybe so, but that's hardly rape is it? As sadoldgit pointed out above, most women who are raped are not dressed in a remotely 'provocative' manner. In fact, I'm sure I've read quite recently that most women who are raped are wearing jeans when it happens. As BTF quite correctly said, rape isn't about sex at all - it's about power first and foremost. And are all men sexual predators? You may see yourself that way, you may even be that way. I'm not and I don't.
  8. Does it? Are you sure about that? Or is it just how think things are likely to be?
  9. I'm not sure exactly who they are, but I do know where they are - hiding in Dune's wardrobe, ready to pounce. I hate to think where we'd be without his eternal vigilance.
  10. As long as it takes is my guess; trials of this nature are often lengthy affairs, owing to the complexity of the evidence being put forward.
  11. Do you mean in real life, or are you talking about their depiction in the films? If the former, then I'm afraid I can't help you; if the latter, then you're wrong. The Orcs' speech in the films is rough-sounding and guttural, but it's nothing like a Cockney accent. In fact, it's not like any regional English accent that I can think of.
  12. On this subject, I've seen you put forward a theory about CS Lewis wishing to portray a battle between Christianity and Islam, with the good guys being Christians. What makes you think this is the case?
  13. And let's face it, he sure as hell needs one!
  14. And let's face it, he sure as hell needs one!
  15. Not often this happens, but I agree with Charlie here. How could you miss out Pulis?
  16. Dune is the funniest poster on here. Only when he's trying to be serious, though.
  17. Hmm...
  18. There are also whispers coming out of FIFA that the president will be changing his name to Deppo Blatter. Meanwhile, in the world of music, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page have agreed to play a benefit gig under the name of Led Deppolin. Remember - you heard it here first.
  19. I went to the Cuckoo Inn in Hamptworth once and although they weren't serving food, a fish and chip van pulled up outside and all the locals got their evening meal from it, with crockery and cutlery provided by the pub. Very good it was too. The Hyde Tavern in Winchester operates a similar system - you can get a takeaway and they'll provide the rest. It's an excellent pub in every way - nice atmosphere and a great selection of beers.
  20. Meeting Corpy face to face would be just too much for many I fear - not least Corpy himself. On the subject of Avram Grant, his name is an anagram of Vagrant Ram. This may not be relevant, but it seems fitting somehow.
  21. But it's nice to see him posting on a subject he has some knowledge of...
  22. They were described thus by sections of the press after they'd had a couple of decent results early that season (1981-82). They were managed by Terry Venables, the tabloids' favourite, which doubtless helped. Our 4-1 demolition of them went a long way towards putting a stop to all that (though not, sadly, to the media veneration of Venables).
  23. You seem to assume that a majority were, in fact, part of the vocal minority. Not quite sure how that works, but in your world it clearly does.
  24. The first game I ever went to was against Rangers in the Texaco Cup - we won 2-0, one of our goals being a comical own-goal by Rangers' left back. I was in the Milton, so didn't see the visiting supporters close up! I was at the Derby 5-0 match too; they'd just signed Francis Lee, who wandered around the pitch looking (and playing) like a beached whale. A favourite memory is the Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup replay in 1984, which I watched from under the East Stand rather than the Milton. And, of course, the Friday night 2-0 against Liverpool the same year.
  25. One entry I missed putting in my previous post was this one, from the Charges Register: (05.11.2009) REGISTERED CHARGE dated 6 October 2009. That clearly relates to the Portpin charge. It must mean that it is still current, or it wouldn't still appear. But it may be that any further changes have not yet been entered into the Land Registry data. Maybe another download in a few weeks will tell us more.
