  1. Ah it all makes sense now! The academy will pay for itself as they'll get the aspiring young pros to staff the catering service. This PDT lot are no mugs that's for sure.

    Moon landings

    So, end of thread, yes?
  3. Think he is saying: Purchase of stadium is not dependent on pledges, as it is being purchased by Mr Robinson Purchase of the club is being made from money held in escrow which has been put there by the HNW individuals. Which would all rather tend to support the point you are making to him...

    Moon landings

Define "hi-res". LRO is capable of resolving to 0.5m (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Reconnaissance_Orbiter) GeoEye (cited up thread as an example of a high res photo) is only 0.41m, so a mere ~20% improvement. The Lunar Module is surprisingly small - 4m by 4m - so about the equivalent to 2 hatchbacks parked side by side. Now take a look at the cars on the GeoEye image (http://moonfaker.com/images/faqs/Rome_09_11_09.jpg) and tell me one is vastly better than the other in terms of resolution?

    Moon landings

Ah yes, that orbiter, that had been doing reconaissance of the lunar surface... damn shame. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19050795
  6. In reverse order... Emergence of Shaw, Ramirez being fit and settling in, Cork's return, standard of opposition.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/space/solarsystem/collections/moon_landing_conspiracy_theories A reputable broadcaster? Or a mere puppet for our totalitarian masters. You decide.
  8. So which one did Lambert miss?!

    Moon landings

I don't think it's that simple - these massive telescopes are not just point and shoot cameras with a massive lens on them. Even just a cursory glance at wikipedia provides some clues as to why it would be no use for providing imagery of the moon: Because of the many mirrors involved in the optical train, about 95 percent of the light is lost before reaching the instruments at a wavelength of 1 µm, 90 percent at 2 µm and 75 percent at 10 µm.[30] This refers to reflection off 32 surfaces including the Coudé train, the star separator, the main delay line, beam compressor and feeding optics. Additionally, the interferometric technique is such that it is very efficient only for objects that are small enough that all their light is concentrated. For instance, an object with a relatively low surface brightness such as the moon cannot be observed, because its light is too diluted. Additionally, there is also an economic argument - these telescopes are mega-expensive investments, and a valuable scientific resource. Spending (i would guess) hours on what would be nothing more than a vanity photo (i.e. contribution to the advancement of knowledge), instead of trying to learn more about the cosmos, in order to dispel a few internet conspiracists doesn't seem like the greatest use of this resource.
  10. Insightful from Neil Allen as ever... His interview with Danny Kelly seemed to boil down to "Booo, Chainrai, he's ruined the club and it's not fair, so he should just go away" and "why should anyone involved in a football club have to appear in court, that's got nothing to do with sport!" The man's a genius.
  11. And the fans have already cancelled their coach. Too damn funny.
  12. Shame... I was looking forward to another court case. It must be literally months since the last one. Could be that chainrai now believes that the longer they are in admin, the less viable the business plan becomes, and his end game now is just to delay until they go pop? Sustaining PKF fees alone is hoovering up the pledges, but with the January transfer window just around the corner and the likelihood of losing players, plus the 1st anniversary of going in to admin arriving shortly after in February (and i believe that is also a statutory deadline of some sort) time is absolutely of the essence for the PDT. Torpedo the PDT's business plan and suddenly it's liquidation time, with no other viable option. He's then in pole position to get the ground... Oh, and it's from any messy planning restrictions due to there being no football club... Or perhaps I've been exposed to too many conspiracy theories today...
  13. Not to mention that as they are entirely different competitions, there are no FOOTBALL LEAGUE points penalties given for breaking rules about player eligibility in the FA CUP... Persecution complex much?
  14. Even better than that actually... play all 7 tiles and get 50 bonus points. Why is EVERYONE so down on Puncheon's potential?
  15. This is true... for about the first 2 maybe 3 or 4 matches, while it's all still exciting and new. It will be heralded as a bright new dawn! And then the novelty will all wear off as crushing reality sets in. They will have rescued a penniless shell of a club, with no tangible assets, no facilities and no player contracts of any value, renting Fratton Park from a group of property developers, and with no realistic hope of ever buying it back. Within just a few weeks they will realise that they are scratching around at the bottom of league 1, losing week after week, and unavoidably heading for league 2. And from thereon it will only get worse as attendances and income steadily tail off, rent for Fratton rises in line with the business plan (reaching "commercial rate" after 5 years), and nobody notices as they heroically disappear from the football league with barely a whimper. I must say, I'm very much looking forward to it!
  16. Correct - what they really mean is that they have taken legal advice not to release the figures, in case it has a bearing on the case. Logically therefore, that means they think the figures would have a potentially negative consequence on their plucky battle with chinny the saviour/monster.
  17. I chuckled heartily at this. Full stop, new paragraph.
  18. I see Bury are now under a transfer embargo which has prevented them from signing a player under non-contract terms... so I assume that's a proper genuine bona fide transfer embargo then, not one of the fake ones they specialise in down the road? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20664209
  19. So, what odds on "Jacintha" for the baby's name then?

  21. Others have said it before, but couldn't Chinny just gazump the PDT with any figure he wants (up to 17m)? As that will in theory just discharge some or all of his debt and would also be a better outcome for creditors (which includes him) as compared to a sale to the PDT at a lower figure?
  22. The skates had two seasons in the championship after getting relegated from the prem.
  23. Yep, I agree with this. They're starting to drop like a stone and will soon find themselves in or around the danger zone.
  24. He's just referring to them booing their own players.
  25. FIFA's own guidance: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/refereeing/5.%20law%2011_554.pdf If an AR [assistant ref] is not totally sure about an offside offence, the flag should not be raised.
