  1. Interesting... - 53% of teams in the bottom three after 10 games have been relegated - 50% of teams who were bottom after 10 games have avoided the drop So a team that is bottom after 10 games is more likely to escape relegation than the other 2 teams in the relegation zone?
  2. So the storm-in-a-teacup Boruc incident has resulted in him being dropped? Or else perhaps he decided that being booed by his own fans was not worth his while? Well done all involved!
  3. If something like this ever happens, it will coincide with a breakaway elite premier league. Reduce the division to 10-12 "elite" teams. Everyone plays everyone at home, away and on "neutral" ground, which will allow for a Premier League world tour. The money would be insane as promoters/cities/stadia compete to host the glamour fixtures. Probably no promotion or relegation either. End of football as we know it.
  4. Waigo's attempted long throw in the dieing seconds of the game against Oldham when we needed a win to stay in the playoff hunt.
  5. Interesting observation. In the arms race of football, attacking tactics seem to have regained the upper hand somewhat with the fluid style of attacking football being championed by Barcelona, Spain, and some of the premiership sides. Would be interesting to see some analysis of quantity of goal scoring in the last 20-30 years (accounting for change in league sizes) to see how (or indeed if) it has changed over time as tactical trends have changed...
  6. Or maybe people are looking for a crisis when there simply isn't one. We've had it so good in the last 2 (or 3) seasons, that everyone has forgotten what it is like to not be winning every week. Yes, it's hard to take, but this is our first season back in the toughest league in the world, after achieving back-to-back automatic promotions (which very few sides have ever accomplished). What exactly do people expect? Has everyone completely forgotten how we used to hardly ever win away from home, and get 1 or 2 absolute maulings every season? I'm not saying we should settle for that in the long run. We need to have some ambition and now more than ever it seems we do actually have some. But success this season is staying up and nothing more. We've been both absymal and fantastic so far this season. If we're still in touch in January then I'm sure we'll look to strengthen at the back for the run-in. There are at least 4 teams that are as bad as us at the moment (Villa, Norwich, QPR, Reading), so it's all to play for. As for our second string getting knocked out the league cup causing a mass panic? People need to get some perspective. Like that's never happened to any premier league team before.
  7. Whilst I applaud this view, there is also the opposite problem that refs often don't give free-kicks unless they have the "evidence" of a player falling over. Got to fix both of those at the same time. Also the idea that "contact" is what makes a foul a foul, and not (for example) forcing a player to hurdle a challenge to get out the way of it.
  8. Oh no, you can't come round here with your balanced viewpoints! Are you a happy clappy or a bedwetter?
  9. We're out of the league cup. Who cares. Cup runs can be a fun distraction but we have to focus on the league.
  10. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/kelvin-davis/elfmeter/spieler_13640.html Since playing for us: 31 pens against, 11 saves and 20 goals. 1 in 3 saved - that sounds pretty good to me? (ignores penalty shootouts)
  11. Er, you said "You sit at your keyboards, judging who is and who isnt Premiership material," Then a nano-second later you wrote, on the internet "We arent talking about a strong competitive team where Billy Sharp or Gazza have made screw-ups that have led to defeat, oh no, its the f**kers like Fox and Fonte that are still here that are doing that" Now if you were stood up, using dictation software, then you're excused.
  12. They are owned by O2. Do you have an O2 account?
  13. Looks like "will" to me... Therefore, as a condition of membership, any new company established to apply for ownership of Portsmouth Football Club's share in The Football League will be required to: 1. Accept a deduction of 10 points in the 2012/13 season; http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20120712/league-board-makes-membership-offer-to-portsmouth_2293334_2847729
  14. Look out for Bale swapping flanks after about 5 minutes!
  15. Maybe it's actually going to be our home kit for the second half of the season, and the change of kit will coincide with a complete reversal of form and fortune. Or something.
  16. Just shows its utterly endemic down there... From the start, the vision for the club was driven by investors hoping to make money out of the club. The old company was liquidated removing the debts and on July 27th 1912 Portsmouth Football Company Ltd was formed. By the 1960s, the club was struggling financially again John Deacon's arrival saw spending on players that the club couldn't afford and talk of a move to a new stadium. Well over a century of living beyond their means. Debts racked up and then cast aside in multiple administrations and liquidations. Looking forward to them finding their natural level.
  17. This times a million. This is the apparent disclaimer... Despite having been given ample opportunity to respond, Portpin's retained PR agency contend a number of unspecified allegations in Micah Hall's articles are 'unfounded, unsubstantiated and defamatory'. Portpin continue to have the full right of reply to enable them to explain how and why the sources of the articles are mistaken. UHY Hacker Young's PR department has also been contacted but they have refused to comment on a series of questions. "See here, we're admitting you think that we're wrong, and you have right of reply, so you can't sue us for publishing this!"
  18. You can say that again!
  19. Oh it's just going to be so much fun if the PST do manage to take over. The novelty of fan ownership will soon fade away, and they'll become impatient treading water in league one / league two with sub-10k average crowds. There are now so many clubs with a solid infrastructure base they will simply find they cannot compete when put on a properly level playing field.
  20. The man's as deluded as the rest of them. They've been in administration since February FFS!
  21. Be careful. You haven't achieved anything yet.
  22. Interesting turn of phrase from the trust. If the bids were truly neck-and-neck, and the trust bid stacked up in the absence of the Portpin bid, then this would be a much more positive story - "No barriers remain to PST takeover" or suchlike. What it really sounds like is PKF have finally given up on the Portpin option (perhaps after some less then encouraging hints from the FL) and decided to give the Trust one last shot (or else look like the bad guy), but without holding out much hope. And in any case racking up a tidy sum in fees. If the Chainrai bid is now torpedo'd, then that does strengthen the negotiation position of the trust with PKF and most "normal" creditors... unfortunately for them, just not with Chainrai, who is probably their biggest obstacle, and would now probably prefer liquidation to a PST takeover. Either way, hilarity will continue...
  23. He booted the ball in to the crowd and got a second yellow. Utterly pathetic and pedantic refereeing. Fights breaking out all over the pitch, and the only card he decides to dish out is the one to Rose!
  24. Surely, that's not fair!
  25. This is a fair point. If the programme shop is actually only available to those in the Chapel, then it's not actually that accessible. Wouldn't it be better sited somewhere else anyway?
