Good point! He's been oft likened to Sheringham (though i think Lambert is stronger) and he kept going at the highest level until late 30s / early 40s? Great news.

True BUT with one caveat. The FL can essentially do what it wants. If the skates are relegated without the deduction having an impact, then they may choose to roll it over to next season anyway.

Well the current income tax threshold this year is £8,105 - and next year was proposed to be £9,440 anyway. So whether you will see any benefit at all depends how much under 10k you are earning. In fact, perversely, someone earning £8k will get no benefit from this change, whereas someone earning £80k will benefit by a few hundred quid. Your taxes for those 40 years were not just going in to your own personal pension fund, I assume you know that? You have had access to education, healthcare, policing, justice, roads, and numerous other public services and regulatory systems - plus being defended from foreign threats (as a deterrent more than anything) and terrorism for most of your life, and not to mention the safety net that was there in case you fell on hard times or got sick or injured. Source?

Well you obviously burned yourself out then. QED.

In other news, it appears that Appleton may have been sacked by Blackburn! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4849324/Michael-Appleton-sacked-by-Blackburn.html BBC carrying it on their breaking sports news blog thing.

If you're going to troll, at least try and be somewhat consistent.

Agree with a lot of that. It appears that much of the bickering in this thread (and others) really just boils down to a discussion about timelines and the right order of things. I don't think MLG is necessarily saying we *should* do it now, just that it appears we *might* be - understandable given the release of these images. Clearly it's early days though. Cortese seems to be hell-bent on making us a top 10 side (or actually better), and maybe - just maybe - he sees developing the stadium as being part and parcel of that. I.e. a parallel activity that actually helps us become a top 10 club (attracting better players, investment, other revenue streams etc), not something that is only possible afterwards.

Comfort Blankets of possession, fixtures and other teams games

Expectations are high, after 3 amazing seasons, and some pretty big spending (for us), but this is our first season back in the Premier League, so finishing 17th or above should be viewed as a success. p.s. we are currently 16th. -
In other words, PST have bought a football club, subject to having somewhere for it to play, and a competition for it to play in...
-
Combined Counties League it is then.

Should have been a pen in my view. Would have been a nailed on free kick to the keeper if Vidic had headed him in the face while he was trying to punch clear.

You know who else thought Germany was better than everyone else?

Following the introduction of goal-line technology in 2013, football slid down a very slippery slope. By 2030, all refereeing decisions were being made in real time by computer. There was no need for a 4th, 3rd, 2nd or even 1st official anymore. After the computer was hacked some time in 2035 by the mysterious "SAF" virus, and Man United were awarded a penalty every time a United player entered the opposition's box, the powers that be at the Premier League decided it was simply too risky to leave something as important as the football business to chance. Thus, the Premier League's Fit and Proper Season test was born. As of 2063, the entire season is first simulated 10,000 times using Football Manager Galactic Edition '63, by a man known only as "God". From this, a set of scenarios are handpicked and screen tested behind closed doors by human clones in the key demographics of India, China, Brazil and Moonbase Zeta 3. Once the most appealing and dramatic scenario has been chosen, the simulation is then acted out in real time by the football "players", who are now all just soap opera actors with an on-pitch persona. Diving is of course still a major problem in the game and bad acting is severely penalised. Fans are still not allowed to stand, and are now automatically restrained in their seats whilst the ball is in play, using a complex system of magnets and lasers. Anybody who mentions remembering "the good old days before all this technology killed the game" will be told they are just afraid of change.

Absolutely! The first few sentences of the OP are exactly how I used to buy music ... but on CD. I still do if I can, though the likes of HMV seems to not actually stock music any more... Especially listening to the whole album - as the artist intended - several times over, before deciding what the standout tracks are... Hit upon an interesting conclusion the other day. The new methods for releasing music (i.e. digital) do create more propensity for bite-size consumption, but they also offer real artists the ability to create music that is unbounded by the constraints of physical media.

Yes, it would be a leveraged buyout. Difference is Microsoft actually has a viable business plan beyond the next 6 months ...

From the link above... http://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/media/Cab20130227rAppC.pdf Very revealing document. Provides more detail of the Trust's business plan than even Farmery knows about. The business and assets of the club will be acquired for £13.6m broken down as follows: Fratton Park £3.12m CVA £0.76m Special Creditors £0.09m Football Creditors – Other Clubs £1.25m Football Creditors – Non Playing Staff £0.38m Football Creditors – Players £7.96m £13.56m The S151 Officer has observed proof of funds of Investments within the PST’s Legal Advisors Client Account as follows: i) High Net Worth Investors and Associate Directors (known as Presidents) £1.02m ii) Fan Share Scheme £1.05m (now believed to be £1.3m)

So actually the real "profit" to the council is the difference between the interest rate the skates are paying vs the interest rate the council is paying. Call me cynical but the real "profit" here is measurable in votes.

It also now officially confirms them as the South Coast's 4th club, behind Brighton, Bournemouth and the Farking Scummahs!
-
Potential takeover funds to now be diverted to fighting court cases on behalf of high profile members...? Wouldn't that be awkward...
-
Some nice product placement too... surprised they're not sat on a Sunseeker.

Possibly part explains his celebration yesterday? What a fantastic player he has become. So glad to see we're keeping hold of him.

The settlement is detailed in the progress report issued by PKF in January! And it actually dates back to before August 2012... Not exactly breaking news...

And he was offside. Thanks ref.

Yeah, terrible decision. Blatant foul on Clyne.
