  1. Chambers should have scored..
  2. When you say "Took alot of stick", presumably you mean "Got absolutely zero bites" ?
  3. Freak result. Sort of thing that makes me hate football when it happens to us, and love football if we get the win. Probably a cracking game for a neutral. Might have been all different if Ozzie had been given the blatant penalty and we'd gone ahead. If refs want to stamp out diving then they're going to need to start giving legitimate penalties when players don't hit the ground. Other than that - actually a decent performance let down by some moments of madness in defence.
  4. Wikipedia says he had a loan spell with them in 2012 when he was contracted to Birmingham.
  5. Not enough.
  6. A number of England's attacking-minded players seemed desperate to impress, and forgot that they are playing a team game. Sturridge and Barkley in particular looked like someone playing FIFA who can't find the pass button. They were literally just running in to defenders and losing the ball. There must have been at least 3 occasions where Sturridge tried to turn his man and just gave him the ball - way too easy. I might (there's no "might" about it) have red-tinted spectacles, but Lallana at least was always looking to play a team-mate in. He did a superb cut back in the first half when he might have been expected to just smash it across goal... but because the player running on to it made such a complete meal of it (whoever it was), it was barely even noticed. Still at least Roy seems to have given credit where it's due. It's up to Adam now to have a superb rest of the season. Great carrot for him.
  7. Oddly similar to Chelsea's winner at Man City the other week.
  8. Really? I would have said that is precisely what Robben is renowned for. And Pep thinks so too... http://www.goal.com/en/news/15/germany/2013/08/24/4210972/guardiola-lauds-decisive-ribery-and-robben-pace Not disputing your overall point though. Out-and-out wingers are less and less part of the modern game.
  9. He's referring to the one against Chelsea
  10. Not seen it posted anywhere else... Uruguay are 2-0 up on Jordan at half time of the first leg of their world cup qualifier playoff. Second half is about 15 mins gone. Gaston not in the starting XI - can't find the subs bench anywhere.
  11. Guess he's talking about 95/96 when we pipped them to stay up and they had Alan Ball (RIP) in charge.
  12. Presumably they are concentrating on finishing in the top 4, as they were dead certs to win the JPT I thought?
  13. Think we've already had the 2014/15 kit thread?
  14. Looks like City will be concentrating on the league cup.
  15. or just use adblock
  16. Lions versus Tigers.
  17. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10793749.Hodgson_praises_high_flying_Saints Echo article quotes Hodgson. He mentions Clyne, Shaw and JWP... So I guess they can't be far away from his thinking. Jack Cork must be a bit gutted tbh.
  18. Maybe we're trying to convert oppo fans to the Southampton Way. When they are confronted with a 20foot high "it's happening" on their way in they'll forget all about supporting Hull or West Brom or Man City, or whatever other no-mark club they support and join the mighty saints on our charge to glory!
  19. Dexter Blackstock keeping a clean sheet
  20. We've been chanting "we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen" at least since the early 90s. Utterly embarrassing IMHO.
  21. North east police forces didn't want Sunderland and Newcastle both playing at home so close together... especially right after the derby on the weekend.
  22. Step forward, the premier league's #1 relegation avoidance expert! (except for those two times when it wasn't his fault)
  23. OK, so you are happy to pick at the seams of the widely accepted explanations, but don't think it's a good idea to postulate alternate theories of your own to explain the evidence. You're a frikking genius.
