  1. HAPPY CVA VOTE DAY EVERYONE! What did the CVA-fairy leave everyone this morning? I got 2p!
  2. It's pretty simple. If people live around or near Southampton, and they want to watch a game of Premier League football, then more often than not, St Marys is where they will go. Arguably we have some competition with Reading for folks in Basingstoke or thereabouts. Maybe they half follow Saints, maybe they don't. But if they want to see United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or even just to see "the Premier League", then people are going to turn up. These same people are not going to be on season ticket waiting lists and will disappear in a blink of an eye if we are relegated. This does not mean PFC diehards changing allegiances. Nobody is suggesting that. But casual fans with no strong ties either way may have gone to Fratton in the past for Premier League football, and next season might be at St Marys.
  3. Svensson and killer (also Svensson) are both Swedish
  4. Are we allowed 1 per home country? Gareth Bale?
  5. Some background reading material... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Market_equilibrium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_surplus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_discrimination Also bear in mind that each person that comes through the gate not only contributes to gate receipts but also... - contributes to food and drink sales - and merchandise - and programmes - and can be advertised to - and (much less tangibly) improves the atmosphere, thereby assisting the team and the brand Furthermore, there is an argument that football possesses addictive qualities, and with very strong brand loyalty. Once a fan, always a fan etc. Getting people through the door therefore is the first barrier to repeat business, merchandise sales etc. The airline model is highly applicable because: - demand is limited - goods are perishable - fixed costs are very high - marginal cost (i.e. per seat, up to capacity) is very low There is a strong case that a full stadium is always the optimum result. But Cortese is smart enough to know all this. Why hasn't he adopted a flexible pricing approach before? Probably because the rules don't allow him to. But I would be gob-smacked if it wasn't on his list of things to look at, and as a PL chairman he now has more influence than most.
  6. Premier League Rule B66. Any distribution to a Relegated Club under the provisions of Rules C.36, C.38 or C.40 may be deferred if, on or before the date of the distribution, the Relegated Club has been given notice under article 4.5 of the articles of association of the Football League which has been suspended. Upon such notice being withdrawn the deferred distribution shall be paid but if in consequence of the notice the club to which it was due ceases to be a member of the Football League its amount shall be added to the next distribution made in accordance with these Rules.
  7. If PCFC go bust, then the PPs due to them get distributed to PL teams. Guess what, that means us! One more reason to root for their demise...
  8. At this rate, the Kaiser Chiefs should get life.
  9. All this is moot anyway, as the club is required to publish its ticket prices in advance and not discriminate between home and away fans, which would be inevitable if the pricing was dynamic. http://www.premierleague.com/content/dam/premierleague/site-content/News/publications/handbooks/premier-league-handbook-2011-12.pdf A Home Club shall not charge admission prices to supporters of a Visiting Club which are higher than those charged to its own supporters for comparable accommodation and in particular concessionary rates offered to senior citizens and junior supporters shall apply to supporters of a Visiting Club. 10. Each Club shall submit to the League details of its season ticket prices and ticket prices for individual League Matches upon announcing the same publicly
  10. Sounds like almost everyone is agreed there is scope for expansion at some point in the future. Only question is what the trigger criteria are for kicking it off. 1 year in the prem? 5 years? 10 years? UEFA cup? etc... The only criteria that matter are Cortese's. However, one thing we do now know for sure (and not through fans' dinners etc) is that he does have a long term vision for expanding the ground... he wouldn't have allowed these pics to be released without it.
  11. My season ticket still hasn't arrived. Is the video on youtube yet?
  12. Why not go via small claims court?

  14. Been there... it's just completely mind-bogglingly jaw-dropping (as is the whole stadium, to be honest). Apparently the two screens along the sides are each the size of a tennis court. As American Football is about 3/4 waiting around whilst eating and drinking, it's heavily used for advertising, getting the crowd going, providing stats etc. All part of the Great American Sports Experience ™!
  15. And and by the way it's Pompey vs Bompey in League One
  16. After first 4 games it's not a bad little run of games right up to December.
  17. Completely agree. If it's not ok to agree a compromise through a CVA, which is the very insolvency vehicle designed to enable it (and particularly given that the FL insists admin is exited via a CVA) then it shouldn't be ok any other way either.
  18. Definitely a Southampton one visible on TV to the left of the right hand side goal (best description I can give)
  19. Well the CVA vote is on the 25th, so if that is a "no" it won't matter what the players do...
  20. So basically, being a football fan? :-)
  21. I hear the word "investment" mentioned all the time in relation to football, and only in football does "investment" mean "provide free money without expecting a return". What about floating us on the stock market? Does that not count as bringing in investment?
  22. Doesn't the BBC just take PA feeds?
  23. Solid and organised for half an hour. Got a bit deep and a bit sloppy towards the end, allowing the French back into it. Oxo sgowing some great flashes but disappearing at times. Unlucky to get booked when Cabaye has made two very cynical fouls.
  24. It's beyond the footballing penalties though. Unless a CVA is agreed then the debts will stand. So Chainrai won't buy the club without the CVA.
  25. So I suppose this one is fake too then?
