Also the much maligned 'take it to the corner' was an attempt to score a goal - not the biggest crime to level at a striker. Calum Davenport's inability to head a ball without letting it bounce was far more culpable. Had it of gone in not an issue. Nothing ever leaks from the Southampton boardroom, but this does. Cortese would no doubt be delighted with the reaction he has received here and other media which has generally been favourable once people moved on from the brutal way he dismissed Adkins. For what it is worth, I think he is very good for us. That said, nobody is bigger than the club and if he does move on - someone will replace him. Personally I hope he does get the backing he is clearly asking for because it means that we will have the materials needed to fulfil an ambition I think he shares with many Saints fans.
