We just can't get control of the ball. Giving it away cheaply and putting ourselves under pressure. Free kick to us Jos and Martin go up - comes to zilch. -

OOppps .... have we touched the ball yet!! The lack of noise from the crowd led me to think they had missed the chance. Suddenly the Goal mlusic was SO LOUD that Solent have muted the p!iss poor volume even more!! -

Barely sobered up from a spontaneous after party party at mine last night or should I say this morning with a 6 am finish Work mate leaving do in Club house on the compound, but had to shut up shop at about 12.30. 5 mins later about 50 people in my place!! Great fun was had by all. Gingerly sipping Spitfire. On the pitch Bartman makes a good save early doors. -
2 goals against the skates in The FA Cup 95/96 season absolves him him of any crapness during his time with us!!

Just looked it up in In That Number. Unfortunately very sparse info - played 28 Mar 88, Saints beat The All stars team 7-3 with goals from Townsend 2, Danny Wallace, Alan Shearer, Derek Statham, Steve Davis, and Graham Baker.

Stevie Williams made his debut at Notarf Krap just after the semi final win in 76. I don't think he'd even established himself in the reserve team, but the first thing that we commented on was exactly as you said above - he was bollicking older pros and generally running the show. Defo one for the future was exactly our observation by HT. Remember this was at a supercharged mid week derby game atmosphere, not any old run of the mill game as well. From vids on Saints Player of youth games v Man u and Arsenal I'd say Jake Sinclair is worth a pop at Coventry, but would obviously benefit more if there was plenty of experience and height to back him up. Maybe Saints are trying to keep him under the radar?

On the subject of names The Beckhams are pretty fecked up, but fall way short of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates with Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom and Little Pixie. Or how about Frank Zappa's brood of Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen? I went to school with a Chris Cross and a Carole service - True Story.

Howard Scores for Everton - Saints Question
ericofarabia replied to Seaford Saint's topic in The Saints
I was there .... but have always been mental!! Somebody mentioned Pat Jennings scoring as well in the same season. Pretty sure it was against Man U at Old Trafford. I wonder what Fergie would have made of that!! It was against Alex Stepney who scored a few times himself a few years later as Man U's peno taker!! I wonder what happened if he missed any? -
But our ship is rocking a bit, the wheels on the bus aren't going round and round so well and a few new faces might help get ourselves back on track just so long as we don't have too many chefs spoiling the broth.

Very emotional night all round. Chris Nicholl was The Saints Manager, and having a bit of a rough time, was playing for The Legends Team. As each name was announced a huge cheer went up, until poor old Chris's name which was met with some cheers, some taking the mickey boos and some genuine boos!! The Saints line up had a lot of the up coming youngsters of that era, including Alan Shearer, who I remember being absolutely pole axed by Nicholl - and we had a league game coming up a few days later!! Seeing Steve Mills on the pitch with his wife and family, looking so frail from his Chemo treatment was quite a shock to me at how it could effect some one so relatively young and fit. It was a very emotional moment and he seemed genuinely overwhelmed at the response he'd got from the Legends such as Bally, Channon and Keegan etc who'd turned up and at the size of the crowd who had come to pay their respects to him and his charity work. No idea what the score was, but it was a very special night indeed.

Basically in a nutshell ... his absolute brilliant earlier displays can't be set aa a minimum benchmark each week. Disappointing as it maybe, there will be below expectations performances in our eyes as we're not seeing open flowing football, but there will be times when he is doing a job for the team as tasked by NA and not able to express himself as we'd like. Sometimes, of course, like every player in the land he will have a stinker where nothing goes right. It happens. Players of the ilk of Channon, Stevie Williams, 2 out of 3 Wallace Bros and even Matt Le Tiss plus many others who have come up through the club have been criticised in their formative years - now with H24 media / forums etc it is so different to a casual remark down the pub. Now, if I say Player X was crap on Saturday just a few people heard me - now one quick post and god knows how many thousands can agree with me. AL is by far the most naturally gifted player we have .... form is temporary, class is permanent. And his committment to SFC in this day and age is something that should be appreciated.
