Man City 2-1 Saints - Match Thread
SaintsfanSwindon replied to Football Special's topic in The Saints
It was a brilliant day - the team were fantastic and the fans amazing. The atmosphere was incredible before, during and after the match. Special mention to Bragg and Welington. Only sour note were the very few younger saints fans who were being overly aggressive/intimidating with some City fans(elderly and families with young kids) in the queue to get into Wembley Central station. Have a word with yourselves lads. -

Ticket bought. Next challenge is to find a yellow and blue scarf! Had a quick look on the website and couldn’t see any. -
That was an outstanding result. Huge pressure on Ipswich tomorrow.

The eloquent Clinton Morrison watching our game then. He mumbled something about Swansea dominating, we made six changes and something about Larin. Brilliant!
-
I love this kit. Worn during the Alan Ball era when MLT was at his best scoring all those wonderful goals.

We could play all night and not score. This is horribly flat. -
Not the greatest game but good to get the win. I thought Welington was absolutely outstanding all game - didn’t put a foot wrong.
-
Neil or Robins are good shouts - proper, decent football managers with Championship experience. Would SR pay the money to get them though? I genuinely think a revitalised Ralph would come back and do a great job. A wild card would be Gareth Southgate - would he be tempted to look at it as a long term ‘project’ (although hate that word!) of building the club back up.
-
I did notice from where I was sat that whoever sat in the front row end chair didn’t come back for the second half.
-
Just back from the match. Just a complete shambles. The club is broken. I was sat in the Kingsland and so many left after Hulls second goal and didn’t come back. We have to get a ‘proper’ experienced manager in now to give these players a big kick up the backside. Get in Tony Pulis and we at least go to Pompey and make a fight of it and avoid getting beat.
-
If that is their plan then that’s one that would get the fans back on their side. This is SR though so probably haven’t even considered it.
-
Absolutely appalling -Sport Republic have to go. They have presided over the worst period of our history, every decision they have made has been a shambles. The Branfoot era was bad but at least the players were limited but put in a shift and actually showed a bit of passion for the club.
-
Surely he has to make changes at time. That was abysmal. Please no back 5 and get Leo on.
-
Even by his low standards Manning is absolutely horrendous so far.
-
Who on earth would sign up for monthly wisdom from Rasmus? 😂
-
I wonder if it may be Farke they want?
-
If Rodgers wants the job it is an absolute no brainer. Get it done Dragan 🤞

One person totally left field and I only say this as I have just finished his autobiography is Duncan Ferguson. He worked under some top managers at Everton (including Ancellotti and Koeman) and they were very positive in his coaching/man management. Did well when he was caretaker manager for Everton and also at Inverness under really difficult financial circumstances.
-
It seems to be our best managers have been the ones who were top footballers when they were playing - Bally, Strachan, Hoddle, Koeman, Poch so I wonder if Viera, Carrick or Gerrard would be a good shout and could work.
-
Lequipe reporting on Twitter he’s been sacked
-
I’m convinced apart from up front (which I’m sure will be addressed in Jan) and possibly GK we have a squad that many managers would love to work with. It just needs that one manager with the charisma, personality and confidence to get them going. It’s not a bad job and surely anyone confident in their ability would believe they can get a tune out of the players and get into top 6 - there are enough points to play for.
-
Absolutely astounded he hasn’t gone yet. Are they seriously going to give him the next two games? It’s clear he’s lost the dressing room.
-
I would take any one of Ange, Mowbray, Carrick or Gerrard. Even Ralph if he is up for it.
-
Needs more time but as others have said we have seen this many times before with managers not up to it and we have left them in place too long before getting rid. Minimum of 5 points in next 3 games or he will be on very thin ice.
-
Sunderland doing everything in this game that we failed to do last year. Defending well, incisive forward passing, taking their chance when it came. They have a decent chance of staying up I think.
