  1. Thanks guys for the advice. From what I'm reading here and there on the web, at this price point most cameras seem to offer much and the same. I just don't want to pick one that limited in some way, but there doesn't seem to be one or two that are clear choices over the others.
  2. I'm looking to improve my photography skills. I used to use my cameraphone while I was out and about for taking phones, always on the auto settings and got decent results (Samsung Innov8, 8mp), but I have had to downgrade to a phone with a rubbish sensor (Nokia 5530, 3.2mp), and the quality isn't there. So I'm looking at getting a nice compact camera. I mostly take pics of my RC cars, so macro quality is important. And I also go to full-size motorsport events, so I'd like something that can handle panning/zooming. I don't know much about shutterspeeds/ISO settings, but I want to learn. And something with minimal shutter lag would be perfect as RC cars move bloody quickly! Heres a small sample I've taken with my cameraphone for an example: I've been limited without having an optical zoom. I've got around £100 to get a camera, I don't mind about cases but it needs to take SD or MicroSD cards, and hopefully its own battery pack (no AAAs please ). I've had a look in Currys at a Kodak MD41 and a Fujifilm J37, but there isn't a one-stop camera review site to look at opinions/sample photos etc - or if there is, Google hides them well!
  3. I was in the same boat when my handset died a week before upgrade time, but I realised I can't afford to commit myself to another 18month deal. I was going to pick the HTC Hero or HTC HD2, I had a go on both and was impressed with Android and the TouchFlow interface. However, because I couldn't afford it, I got Nokia 5530 Xpress Music from CPW, PAYG for £100 and stuck my contract SIM in it until it runs out. Then I'll get a Tesco 30 day contract SIM I think. The 5530 is good for an entry level touch phone, all the best bits from the 5800 but much thinner. Its no iPhone but I don't mind having an app to tell me when to wipe my bum.
  4. Lamp.
  5. Trotman please.
  6. Could have had a worse Christmas period, bring on January!
  7. I think it depends on the personalities signed. I can't think of many players coming here with big ego reputations (Nigel Quashie maybe), those Saints players who turned out to be a bit prima donna gained them while they were here TBH (Beatts), for various reasons, managers etc. I don't think AP will be signing massive names next month.

    Our Chances?

Yes we can make the playoffs, yep, I think we'll make it. I really how for Auto Promotion to pee off the Leeds mates I have - we'd have succeeded in bouncing back after relegation AND points deduction at the first attempt, they couldn't do it. However, if we don't go up this season, then I think the target next season has to be either Title Winners or Auto Promotion. Nothing like aiming high, is there?

  11. I think thats the most fair and balanced opinion on 360 vs PS3 vs Wii I've read in a long time. Best advice I can offer is, find out what games you want to play, then use that to pick a console. Most games I wanted to play were 360 exclusive (Forza, Race Pro, GTA 4 exclusive content at the time), so I went that route.
  12. I hope it ruins his career.
  13. Can only vote for what I've played and bought. 1. Assasins Creed 2 2. Forza 3 3. Fifa 10 4. COD:MW2 5. FM10 Haven't finished any of them yet (apart from from single player on MW2), so plenty of lifespan left for me yet.
  14. Got it on the DS, first ever Mario game for me and first 2D platformer since the Megadrive days....were they always this hard? I'm loving every minute of it though!
  15. They all seemed to appear from nowhere together, are they all linked? Same with the quick short-term loan companies of the past fortnight.
  16. Ikea. That way we can have a proper flat pack four.
  17. Irony to the Nth degree.
  18. Mark Lawrenson and Paul Merson. Stan Collymore too when he was on the Central Soccer Night up here a few seasons back (with Nick Han**** and Sarah-Jane Mee).
  19. Hmm, thinking about it, I never use Windows Live Photo Gallery and after removing it and running without it all afternoon, I've had no popups, so I'm not going to put it back in. Major thanks for the tipoff Mr Cake.
  20. Slight problem, how to uninstall Photo Gallery? Its not listed in add/remove programs but according to this site, it should be: http://help.live.com/Help.aspx?market=en-US&project=WL_Photo_Gallery&querytype=topic&query=WL_Photo_Gallery_PROC_UninstallPhotoGallery.htm Here's the closest to what it is: Edit - Googled this issue and Windows Live Essentials needs removing before Photo Gallery appears, is that right? Edit 2 - Never mind, just tried repairing Live Essentials, it said everything was fixed apart from Photo Gallery, so I'm taking out PG through Essentials. God I hate computer problems!
  21. I've run into a problem with this laptop the past few days. I'm getting a popup when I open folders on the HDD containing images and videos and other apparently random times, which says ''Windows Live Quicktime Control Host has stopped working and needs to close''. Clicking More Info comes up with this: A couple of days ago my bro finally updated his iPhone through iTunes to the latest version, and I think in doing that he installed the latest iTunes too, along with all the crap associated with it (Safari, Bonjour etc). Normally I wouldn't let him just install a program with all the added crap but I wasn't around. I removed the following from the Add/Remove Programs page: - Apple Application Support - Bonjour - Safari - MobileMe Control Panel and some unused drivers for a cable we don't use anymore, along with Java 6 Update 7 as we've got a newer version. And since then I've had the popup. You can carry on viewing and doing whatever I want to do with the folders, but its a bloody annoying box. Google doesn't help on this occasion so I'm guessing its not a common problem. Nothing comes up on MBAM so I don't think there's anything malicious in there, just a conflict with programs (probs the ones I removed). I tried a System Restore to before I took the programs out, but it said it wasn't successful. Any ideas?
  22. For a second, I was afraid it was going to be about... ...but its someone equally as moronic.
  23. Didn't see this mentioned, but British Olympic athlete Ross Clarke is currently missing, and may be in the Southampton area.
  24. Sack that, Cadwell Park* FTW. *this post is not entirely serious....but a modern F1 around Cadwell? Wow...
  25. Shenmue II also came out on the original Xbox, I found it in Gamestation a few years ago (4 for £20) and completed it (then sold it for £68!). 3D games from the Playstation/Saturn era have aged terribly, but 2D games look as lush as they ever did.
