Cedric Soares - Official: Loaned to Arsenal
Dan Johnson replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
It's a sideways move for Arsenal. They've had a weak defence for ages and now they're signing a player who offers nothing more than they already have. -
JWP was incredible tonight, absolutely immense!!
-
They've a midweek game away at Utd with the potential of extra time, I would expect them to play a relatively strong 11 there which could give us a big advantage given the energy we're playing with at the moment. I can see us winning this 2-0.
-
Exactly this. It's not like Mo wasnt given a fair crack, he looked poor on EVERY occasion he played for us, he wasnt like Boufal who had shown glimpses of what he could do before he was sent out on loan, Mo showed nothing. There are plenty of examples of players over performing Scotland having not made an impact in the English leagues Scott Sinclair Rudi Skacel etc etc etc

This, I dont understand why he's all of a sudden become the enemy simply because he hasnt (yet) found another job, essentially. Yes he's on big money but that's not his fault, i've never questioned his application on the football pitch and thats the best you can ask for. He's not suited to the way we play, he'll get bag fulls of goals for a team who play the old fashioned "English" way with a big striker and wingers throwing balls into the box.
-
Looks like he was holding out for a move to the Prem, now it looks like he'll consider Championship and hopefully they'll be a handful of teams lining up for him... FINGERS CROSSED!
-
Burnley Preparations likely affected by Maguire to Utd as Leicester are heavily being linked with a move for Tarkowski as a replacement.
-
Maybe that’s where they scouted him To be fair I was watching the Man City documentary on Amazon and it showed the game where city lost 2-1 at home to FC Basel, of the 40 second highlights they showed 1 player stood out with a goal and an assist, I thought who’s that, looks decent... it was Moi
-
Austin just tweeted “nearly off of single figures #progress” He’s played for nine clubs, hopefully means he’s on his way

Chelsea and Leicester home games moved for TV

Not according to this, HT is the week after. https://www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/schoolholidays -
I feel sorry for Clyne, for 2 seasons he was their first choice right back and was Englands first choice during that time period too. Injuries have really put a stop to his career, had he not got injured I think he'd have retained his place in one of the best Premier League teams we've seen in the last 10 years. Liverpool will hope he'll recover in time for them to sell in the January window, so I suspect they'll still manage to get a fee for him, all be it a small one. Clynes injury allowed Alexander-Arnold to get first team football which has worked out well for Liverpool, the emergence of Alexander-Arnold and his estimated value has gone a long way to offset the loss they'll make on Clyne

There is no way we will get more than £18m for him even in the current market. The player has talent, he's showed that on 4-5 occasions for us but his attitude to the application of that talent is the issue. Bigger clubs are taking a punt on him, lets be honest. They're hoping that at a bigger club surrounded by better players he'll put in the performances he's capable of week in and week out. At £15m-18m he's a risk that bigger clubs can afford to take, we cant afford to sit on a £15m asset hoping that out of no where he starts to apply himself when in the last 2 years he's not shown us many signs he's willing to do that here. We cant price him out of a move by demanding £25-£30m knowing that big clubs are taking a punt on the basis he might turn into the £60m player, those big clubs wont take the risk at £25-£30m but they will at £15-£18

Got to think Newcastle are favourites for relegation this season, feel really sorry for their fans. Benitez gone, Ayoze Perez off to Leicester, Rondon gone back to WBA, talk that their looking to replace Rondon with Steve Mounie from Huddersfield! Cant see where the goals will come from next season.

Players we all thought were rubbish, but weren't

Think he got allot more stick than he deserved. Lallana often played on the left in front of Danny and way too often Lallana would drift into the middle leaving Danny Fox exposed or in 2 on 1 scenarios. Teams highlighted that and often concentrated their attacks down that side exposing that weakness reflecting badly on Fox. It was part of the way we played during that period, Lallana drifting into the middle to overload midfield and offer creativity in the centre the downside was leaving the left flank exposed reflecting badly on Fox. -
Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official

I think we have to Judge Long on his performances under Ralph, he wasnt used properly by Puel, Hughes or Pellegrino. Long is much more suited to the way Ralph wants to play than Austin is and will be a much better option off the bench in Ralphs system than Austin would be IMHO -
At £40m I would say he's a good option. I'd imagine Palace will be after double that though
-
Adkins? Thought Watson joined when Koeman was manager?
-
Saw that this morning too, really cant see him moving at all let alone 10m!! In this market thats a bargain.
-
I’d be gutted to see Berts leave, gutted. He struggled with injuries last season but he’s consistently been one of our top three performers every season he’s been here and is one player who’s genuine quality is never questioned. He’s a much better option than Targett in my opinion and he doesn’t seem to be the type of player whos performances would decline substantially with age. I reckon we could get another 2/3 seasons out of him at least. If a big English club comes in and pays us £20m+ then fair enough but otherwise cash in on Targett.
-
I'm always surprised how people dont see it this way. Best of luck to any player who moves to a bigger club with the chance to achieve bigger things.

I'd say probably along the lines of McCarthy £2-3m Cedric £7m Stephens £3m Hoedt £6m Reed - 500k - 1m Clasie - Free to clear wages Elyounoussi £4-5m Hesketh £500k Boufal £7-9m Carrillo £6m at most Austin - Free to clear wages Gallagher £2.5m

Nail on the head for me. I’m not against Lallana returning for any other reason than the commercials simply don’t add up. He has literally only just turned 31, but with his injury record I can’t see us getting any return on a £13million outlay. I think he’s a tough buy at £13m for any club, especially with his wage demands. At £5-£6m and 40-50k wages over 3 years it seems something I’d think about but not at prices quoted

Strong in the tackle too
