Hate could be considered too strong a word but this hating is it face to face ? I'm sure the majority of us have been in the company of their fans outside of a match day, do we dislike them that much we leave or do we indulge in some banter, me, I go for banter. When I first left school I was a drivers mate and Tuesdays and Thursdays was Portsmouth, travelled all over the town on a very regular basis and although some exceptions, in the main, the majority were not very nice people and that was us bringing them something they wanted ! So, Football aside I genuinely don't believe the people of Portsmouth are pleasant that said, they don't evoke enough emotion in me to stand behind a barricade and shout obscenities but would join in a song on the terrace(except on a string) because I believe that falls under the category of banter. I have never understood Football violence and when ever I watch documentarys on Chimpanzees, it seems to mirror that behaviour, when one or two become a little unecessary it descends into the whole group running back and forth shouting and screaming, even in the midst of it all excitement levels get so high some hug, yet rarely nothing of any consequence occurs, except of course when CCTV is reviewed and banning orders and fines are dished out and you miss a trip to Wembley etc...for what exactly ?, strange imo
