  1. You've just stated as fact that he walks with nothing if his contract is cancelled 'by mutual consent', and then immediately go on to say that he might get a percentage of the amount outstanding on his contract. The bottom line is that if the player agrees to go by mutual consent, free transfer or any other way you want to cut it, it will be on the terms on the player, not the club. If the player isn't happy to leave, he'll sit tight and there's nothing the club can do about it. He has you by the balls.
  2. How the hell did TCWTB get through!
  3. It's not that straightforward. They have to get someone to buy Kitson (or take him on a 'free') and, even if that happens, the chances are that they won't be offering crazy Pompey wages, so he'll either a) ask for a pay off for the difference for the remainder of his contract or b) give up that cash. My money would be on b) not even being recognised as an option for most footballers, let alone someone who has only been attracted to Pompey for the money in the first place. Maybe their saving grace will be that some players won't want to play in L1...maybe.....
  4. Hope I can get restitched later though....
  5. Hernia operation 48hrs ago is not ideal preparation for this..
  6. No idea....I didn't sit through the trial, but that's the point....what might seem odd from the outside may make perfect sense if we'd been jurors and spent the last week hearing evidence.
  7. Yep, all of this.
  8. Any decision yet Tractor?
  9. Sorry, stupid question...is it annual kit changes under this contract? Home and away both being changed every year?
  10. Maybe there's an argument that kids who have to fend for themselves financially, despite the wealth of their parents, make for better rounded individuals. There's something quite refreshing about them not being given the silver spoon treatment, and learning the value of money.
  11. So if you work hard, save your money, invest it wisely, pay tax (maybe at a high rate) all your life, you have to sell your home to pay for your care. If you slob around, contribute nothing in any shape or form over your whole life, have no savings, or estate of any kind, then the state pick up the bill and that's ok. Extreme examples, but you're advocating the person who works hard paying for the slobs care via their state contribution, but they have to pay for their own. That doesn't seem very fair or reasonable.
  12. But surely it only seems odd because you haven't sat through the trial and heard all of the evidence?
  13. I think CMS is a classic case of Poyet buying a striker who simply doesn't fit into their system and style of play. Shows a bit of naivety on Poyet's part.
  14. Blackpool, sponsored by Wonga.com.....a bit pikey some might say.....and ten fans prefer Pompey to Saints. Quelle surprise.
  15. Yes, but look at the tens of millions that Randy Lerner has spent to get the to where they, er, are. Staggering. Their levels of debt (albeit bailed out by Lerner) are horrific. http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/latest-news/ticket-prices-subsidised-by-club-losses
  16. FAir play to them - ride your luck and take the points. 3 shots on target, 3 goals. I sort of know how it feels to be a Leeds fan now...or a Brighton fan on Tuesday
  17. De Ridder for me....to take Harte backewards. Also, Richardson needs to offer better support. I can understand why he started, but chasing a 1 nil, Richardson is more of a threat. Also, Fox needs to start taking Kebe backwards and get outside of Lallana
  18. I hope not...but that's probably what Brighton thought....
  19. I did that drive in the summer of 2010 - cracking. Some of the tunnels in Switzerland were staggering...10kms+ in length. Some good engine noise through those, even in a diesel A5!
  20. BUt the achilles heal that they can't shift is all the players on big contracts. They're ageing players, with little transfer market value, and on salaries that they won't get elsewhere. What's the incentive for them to move? Sure, they may move because they want to play at a higher level, but they'll want their contracts paid up. Buying the club for £3 or £4 million is one thing, but funding £21m a year in wages is quite something else.Even if they manage to halve that (I can't see how), £10m+ is monstrous for L1. Maybe those derby day heros will rip up their contracts and move on. The irony of the 'heros' being the ones to liquidate the club will be totally lost on the fans.
  21. I've got one built in to my car. It's fantastic and you generally only ever come across the odd dead spot - short section of M4 around Swindon (oddly) and around 6 Dials in town. In Devon this week and it is a bit iffy here though! I'd insist on it in my next car.
  22. I think this is a very valid point. Hillsborough was, undoubtedly, an horrific event, but Heysel was only 4 years earlier. I wasn't affected by Hillsborough on a personal level, so if I had my views may well be different, but I'd have thought that a Wembley semi against Everton could well be a good way to commemorate the day. In all other years the 15th hasn't caused any issues for anyone. However, this year it means that Chelsea have to play 24 hours later, and closer to a massive game for them against Barcelona. A possible 120 mins at Wembley on a Sunday evening isn't ideal preparation for chasing Barcelona around a few days later. There seems to be a total disregard for Chelsea here - hardly appropriate in the wider context of 'the football family' that we've heard so much about recently.
  23. This. Us to go up with Reading. I really hope WHU stay down because of the way they play and everything DP has said above. Apart from that I'm not fussed who comes up with us...Blackpool would be entertaining though and probably deserve another crack given that they invested their PL money sensibly last time (I don't like Holloway though). Apart from them, maybe Cardiff to come up too - Swansea v Cardiff in the PL would be epic. Obviously Pompey to go down.
  24. 6.14 on the PKF report...I assume this may 'materially differ' once the creditors of the old CVA tell BT that they want 100% of the original debt. 6.14 The amount of £16.5m described as ìCVA creditors ñ due to OldCoî represents our current estimate of the likely claim of OldCo in the administration. The exact quantum of this claim is determined by the adjudicated value of creditor claims in the OldCo liquidation. The Liquidators of OldCo have not yet adjudicated on these claims. The final figure may be materially different from our estimate above.
