Should we have sacked Pochettino any way?
pap replied to Red And White Barmy Army's topic in The Saints
If we're honest, the vast majority of posters support the manager in place at the time, unless things are going poorly. Cortese lost patience with Adkins and Pardew far faster than most of us. Regardless of whether you like him now or were happy with the manner of his appointment, the team did progress under MP's tenure. Should we have sacked him regardless? Difficult to justify much apart from a couple of bollóckings for the cup performances based on what we knew then. Based on what we know now, it's a lot easier - but if someone had asked me if we should dump Poch for Koeman while he was still in the job, I'd have probably said no (and have been wrong!). -
Fill your boots. https://twitter.com/search?q=%23matalan Telling everyone you disagree with to f**k off might require effort. Maybe start a f**k off posse, spread the load?

Even the Mail article isn't making a big deal about this. The article qualifies the "customers" as mostly people on Twitter with someone sending in a story to the Sun. It also provides a bit of historical context. Some mentioned in the article label the image as racist, but I don't think any say outright that Matalan's intent is to offend Most of these outraged customers are merely of the opinion that Matalan needs to have a teeny bit more nous about them. It's the PC brigade gone sarcastic.

Juvenile Unit #2's three word response on reading the story, "switch it around", has more common sense than most of these posts, which was what was lacking in the first place.

Better than Vegina, anyway.

QPR fan's view on Saints - never underestimate the team with the long term plan.

It'd never get through his big club filter. -
I liked the bit where a Daily Mail article was used as a foundation for an attack on the narrow-minded

You make an interesting point, Bear So you acknowledge that a primary school teacher, with influence over maybe 40 kids per year, would be pulled up on such "casting decisions". But it's okay for a clothing company with a marketing budget of millions and national reach to dress black kids up as monkeys and put them in the printed press. Have fun getting those polar opposites to stick.
-
How would you know, Whitey? You reckon a primary school teacher would get away with it?

Own goal that didn't need scoring. Dress white kids up as rabbits and black kids up as apes. What can possibly go wrong? I doubt there was a white supremacist pulling the strings. Probably just some thick c**t that continually needs to be told what racism is.

Back from an epic weekend in Southampton. It was my best mate's 40th birthday party, the trailblazer for our school year. Birthday boy booked tickets in Itchen North with the international crew. Had a couple of pints in the Farmhouse beforehand, before taking a slow and chilled walk down to St. Marys. Very much enjoyed Itchen North this time around. The thumping of Newcastle was somewhat dampened by the presence of a twitchy Geordie in the seat next to me trying to suppress his emotions all game. All Saints fans around yesterday, which made for an excellent atmosphere. More on that later. Mane is going to be a huge success here. Buzzes all over the place and creates; the backheel for Bertrand's goal was glorious, and he'd already created loads of (spurned) opportunities for others beforehand. We all know what the best moment of that game was, but I really want to pay complement to Bertrand's goal, performance and post-match interview. Seems to be a determined and committed player, which is a testament to the harmony that seems to have emerged under Koeman's tenure. Charlie Austin's goal was excellent. I might have clapped if I hadn't been transfixed by the writhing mass of QPR fans giving it large over to my right. They swiftly told us we weren't singing anymore. Immediate counter-chanting from Itchen North and Northam. Pelle's goal came right at the end of it, the stadium exploding with noise as it went in. I saw it in glorious HD (without beanstalk obstructed view) tonight. It's the stuff of wonder. We have wonder-makers in this team, and it's only a matter of time and refinement before Tadic starts finding the net more frequently. We are presently defying the odds, as Gary Lineker remarked on Match of the Day. Let's be honest; almost everyone, Saints fans included, expect a descent out of nosebleed territory. That may well happen. We're little fish on big points right now, but thar be sharks in these waters! Chelsea and Man City are plainly scary, capable of destroying most teams in ten minutes. Both sets of scousers can be pleased with a bit of defensive development today, and not losing. Can see both of them building on that. Arsenal get top 4 every year. Strong teams. Let's not have our head in the clouds, etc, etc. That said, can't help thinking that this is a unique opportunity. Only six games, but what a platform to build on. Spurs away. Sunderland and Stoke at home. Our fans have been excellent when there's a bit of needle involved. Spurs will give us that. The two home games that follow are going to be crucial. The players have been praising the fans, saying that the support inspires them. Maybe they're merely paying lip service, but I don't think so, Pelle especially. Maybe all those smirking pundits will get their wish and witness our plummet down the table once we meet the bigger boys, but if there was ever a time to stand up, sing and support the Saints, this is it - no matter where you sit.

Worn the same Saints jacket to each game. Undefeated in all appearances. Three wins. One draw. If I can't go to a game, I'll wear a Saints shirt.

Bwah. 0-0. Half-time. Loads of chances. No end product. This has got Arry takes all against run of play all over it. Prove me wrong, Saints.

Our endless support had ended?

I think you're right about the chant, especially as in the original, everyone actually knew that Messi was a better player. At least I hope they did. I know we mean it differently now, but it still does a bit of disrespect to Tadic and if it continues, a bit collectively stalker-ish (as externally perceived).

Can't take credit for this corker. Found it on The MUSH Bible, a Facebook community. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-MUSH-Bible/1463640217221915

I think we need to base any new songs off Glenn and Chris's Diamond Lights. [video=youtube_share;1KEMMfV5-Qg] See Dalek if you don't have a copy of your own.

Can't speak for everyone, but I'm not happy with Lallana. Captain and arguably undermined the club at its greatest moment of recent triumph. When we're saying "look at us, we're sending 3 of our lot to the WC", he was signing LFC shirts in Miami and essentially saying "Southampton FC are a load of old shít where I won't reach my ambitions". I'm sure his advice to Forster was just garnish.

Just seen some matey on Twitter quite seriously suggest that lack of Twitch is what has stopped FM from exploding all these years
