  1. Money is created out of thin air based on a promise to pay. It is a fiction made real, backed by nothing except belief, court orders and bailiffs. You'd paint the Greek citizens as irresponsible, yet they have one of the lowest burdens of household debt in the EU. They actually thought they'd be fine, for that specific reason. Sorry mucker, but it works both ways. The lenders didn't have to give the Greek government the money, knew that it could not pay it back, but lent it anyway because they knew that the EU would sort them.

    Paxman v Brand

"Thick c**ts with f**k all to say get something to say and say it" shocker. Brand's response is class.
  3. Why is it childish? Do you think Greece and Spain felt the warm glow of democracy when the unelected executive of the EU decided to enforce austerity on them? No it isn't. It's posters like yourself and KRG, that I normally have a great deal of time for, wilfully ignoring the fact that as well as visiting Haut de la Garenne in Jersey, Ted Heath signed this country's sovereignty away.
  4. Not sure myself. Their main man is a potential liability. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/transfer-news-what-do-we-know-about-liverpool-target-diego-costa-for-one-thing-hes-not-shy-of-controversy-8744256.html
  5. Martin Keown and Alan Shearer discuss Saints' title credentials. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29983057 Keown: "Southampton should not be dismissed" Shearer: "I don't think there is any pressure on them"
  6. Carlsberg is p!ss. If Carlsberg did anything else , it would also be p!ss.
  7. I am going to a christening today. Loads of LFC fans and Mancs will be present. Can't wait to hear their crap.
  8. Disagree, sir. Here's why. 1) Better experience on multi-platform titles, due to the extra oomph that the PS4 can deliver. 1080p almost comes as standard. I think I've got one game which dips below that. 2) You might have friends on Playstation. I'll certainly be looking forward to seeing my old XBox friends list; some people just aren't on PS4 yet. 3) Tons of freebies for all Playstation consoles if you sign up to PSN Plus, £40 notes a year. I know MS does this too. There are all kinds of reasons to own multiple consoles. The most important is the software you can run on it. I've not seen a truly triple AAA exclusive title on the PS4 yet. inFamous Second Sun was enjoyable, but there it ends. The best exclusive stuff on the PS4 at the moment is remastered ast gen games, and the XBox One is leading the charge on exclusive next-gen stuff. That said, most stuff isn't exclusive - and is out on both consoles, so for the vast majority of all games released in the next few years, you'll have a better time on PS4. Why have hamburger when steak is available?
  9. We watch most of the football. We spend a little time conversing with the away fans, is all. We did look like idiots when we thought we scored and didn't catch the disallowal. Not watching enough of the game definitely a factor there. I do wonder how many altercations actually take place. Certainly a lot of bids. The support was a little disjointed in the first half, little pockets competing with each other and clashing. Second half was much better, although there were too many away fans and dragalongs for it to hit it consistently. Leicester's legitimate lot were a good, loud crowd - credit to them, although I'm glad we didn't have to suffer the indignity of their Poznan. Some classics were sung, and they had their day out
  10. Sh!t, sandwich! We've been rumbled! Was actually nice to see us get our props from The Special One, though. He considers us a threat even if some of our own fans don't. Yeah, yeah - he might not be being especially sincere with his words, perhaps a sneaky way of getting the players to believe the hype and under perform. Even so, we're in his thoughts. Check us out. Premier League big time charlies. Can someone send me a manual? ?
  11. I'm pretty close to getting an XBox One myself. There are enough exclusives on it that I want to play now, and more are coming. I fancy both the Forza games, and Sunset Horizon is getting a lot of love from the specialist gaming press too. There's Fable to look forward to as well. But yeah, Nolan. Chill. Get yourself a PS4 and love 'em all.
  12. Been back from the game for a little while now. I have never seen us beat Leicester in the flesh before today, and for much of the game, didn't feel like it was going on happen. An edgy and atypical Itchen Corner reflected the unease. It may be coincidence, but the wet weather and the amount of overcooked or under-hit balls seemed related. Tadic struggled to beat the first man when trying to cross, and for all the forward momentum, Mane had a poor final ball today. Substitution made all the difference. Best banter centred on the disallowed goal. Itchen North started celebrating and giving it. Leicester fans laughed at us quite hard immediately, then cheered us for everything we did. We gave it back loads after we actually scored including cheering goals that did not happen. Couple of moans. First, Leicester fans were in our end right in front of me. They got a full bellowed "you've had your day out..." at 2-0. The other moan is for Saints fans. Don't bring your missus to the game if all she is going to do is sit down and play with her phone. Waste of a seat. That is all.
  13. This.
  14. Are the 1950s really the best example? Say what you want about the politics. Most people I know old enough to remember them think the fifties were a golden age.
  15. Indeed. Personally I'm going in the blood of a freshly slaughtered animal. Welcome to Hell, Ads. It ain't like you left it.
  16. You inspire me, CC
  17. Yeah, that's why my sensible side tells me. The tribal little c**t that pitches up at St Mary's every fortnight doesn't mind as much
  18. There is no technical reason why he should not have done. However, given the way that Labour likes to present itself, putting people first, I can understand why people doubt the credentials of someone who claims to represent that sentiment, but couldn't put his brother first in the leadership contest.
  19. Four years is a long time in politics.
  20. Possibly. He lacks any sort of self-awareness though. Plus he trampled over his own brother's political ambitions to run for leadership. I don't think he has any experience or rapport with traditional working class Labour voters.
  21. I'm in Row Z - Block 1. Quite a few around me sing, but it's louder toward the back. We tend to spin on their chants. This. I have the píss taken out of me there by our own fans, on account of the long barnet and all that. If I can deal, then I'm sure everyone else can
  22. He looks like a man wiping shít off his shoe. That is not a good look.
  23. What a fúcking own goal. If you're going to get two newspapers to photograph you while you are helping the homeless, I reckon you need to hand out more than 2p. FFS, I gave a quid to a Pompey supporter a month ago! No class, Ed

    Van Gaal

Doing a worse job than Moyes having spent 150m, doesn't seem to understand that a team needs defenders, yet gets better press off the back of past achievements. I reckon his PR people are more competent than him
  25. My brother has a PhD whereas I am only qualified to Bachelor level. He's younger, so it's a constant source of shame to be out-qualified by him. To even the odds, I'd need a PhD. To reclaim my rightful top spot, I'd either need 2 PhD's or land a job with the Professor title. It's quite involved, apparently. It's something conferred, rather than directly earned.
