One of the more reasoned responses to my sort of issue so thank you for that. All I'd say is that what I find people on here sometimes forget is that whilst Saints are a big part of my life, my life doesn't revolve around them. Was out yesterday sorting stuff for my sister's wedding. Admittedly it didn't cross my mind to slip out for 10 minutes to try and sort out the tickets but the club effectively left people less than a day of general sale. Just very annoying.

Has anyone been onto NSC to thank those useless bummers?

****'s sake. Can't get through at all. Does anyone else think it sort of takes the **** how they've gone about selling them. I'm prevented from going to potentially the biggest game of the last decade or so because I was at uni for the Barnsley and Ipswich games... Been to the last 6 home games with the exception of those two. I know I'll get the usual rabble telling me I'm a specific case and the club can't tailor to everyone's needs. I just feel that we the fans make the club and shouldn't be made to jump through hoops to achieve the exclusivity required to attend games.

Text my mate. He thought it was laughable. Not going to put any effort into trying to change your mind cos we all know that would NEVER happen. Agree to disagree. My thoughts are now with the brave police officers who will be putting their lives on the line at tomorrow's derby. *gay smiley thing*

As much validity as this office survey has when 8 people have been asked by someone who wants them to say yes, I maintain the majority of fans would disagree with you
-
You cannot apply loads of criteria to what constitutes a derby. Just ask any Brighton or Palace fan. They are conceptual and though they correlate strongly to proximity and club size, they are not limited to them. You go outside St. Mary's with a clipboard on Friday and do a survey of Reading and Saints fans asking if they think the match is a derby. The vast majority will say no. You compare that to last Saturday when 100% of people would have said yes. What I'm essentially saying is if you have to write paragraph after paragraph convincing an ordinary fan that a match is a derby, then it is not a derby.

Very funny picture. But has no one else noticed the bird on the right who looks way too fit to be sat on one of those coaches. Shame.

You're talking b0llocks mate. Are we talking mathematically or realistically? Because you seem to be talking realistically speaking at first but then conveniently changed your argument to a mathematical one with your next post. That being, if you were talking about mathematically speaking then surely its a 6-horse race as anyone down to Cardiff can still make 79 points so if they were to win the remainder of their games and we were to lose the remainder of ours, along with other teams in the top 6 dropping points then couldn't they still catch us? As could Blackpool on 2 points more than them. You're warped argument to say if Brum can catch WHU and WHU can catch us therefore Brum can catch us up is ridiculous. By that logic, Blackpool can catch Brum, Cardiff can catch Blackpool, Brighton can catch Cardiff etc etc, therefore 'by definition' surely its a 24 horse race..??? Realistically speaking, yes Brum can catch WHU and yes WHU can catch us. But the fact of the matter is that Brum need to overturn a 10 point, inferior goal difference swing to catch us. WHU need to overturn a 4 point, inferior goal difference swing. And Reading of course just need to overturn our goal difference. So yes in a mathematical, pedantic, bore your mates to death with permutation after permutation way, yes it could be described as a 4 horse race (but then why isn't it a 6 horse race as previously stated, where do you draw the line between realistic and mathematical), but the fact of the matter is as the team at the top of the league, there are 2 teams who could realistically catch us and as such it is a 3 horse race. F*cking hell.

If you mean that then what a sad, pathetic football fan you are. That it means more to you to enjoy the misery of your team's rivals than the success of your team. Get a grip.

Like others I don't want to dismiss Palace but I went to their game at home to Donny the other week (on a scouting mission) and they were dire. Just awful. No incisive play, no threatening runs, nothing. They will no doubt be fired up to beat the team top of the league, but if we do ourselves any sort of justice we should win this fairly comfortably. Anyone saying the best we can hope for is a draw is ****ing clueless.

Quite a poorly constructed survey tbh. What if you've been to 30 stadia, not 2, like your questions assume. 'Is the other stadium you visited better than the one you visit most often.' Well which one of the 29 others are we talking about, and better in what respect? As a student myself I find things like this really quite cringeworthy. No wonder that university degrees are being less and less respected these days.

The sort of attitude to have at a time like this, alright it was a loss and a bad one at that. But no new injuries (as far as I'm aware), no new suspensions and players coming back from injury. New 6 match season begins on Saturday, 6 point headstart and a great goal difference to go with it. Pompey game is huge but if we play to our best against Reading and win then that's the title and promotion wrapped up in one game. Be thankful for where we are, move on and look forward to humiliating ths Skates. Love SFC! STILL love this season!

What a sad, pathetic and bitter man the OP seems to be

Good man! Gotta work out how I'm gonna get there but like you, wouldn't miss it for anything.

The concept of claiming that God has any effect on the result of 22 men kicking around a football is nothing other than sheer lunacy. To then claim he favours Southampton over others...

Despite our success this year we still seem to be going into this weekend's game at Leeds feeling that a point would be a good result, or at least that's the general consensus on the build-up thread. It's almost as if taking three points would take us all by surprise to some extent. I tend to comfort myself with the rationale that stranger things have happened. So can anyone give any examples. I know there was a thread recently about away days but what away games can people recall going into it without the faintest hope of getting anything from it and coming away with all 3 points? The most obvious one from recent memory for me has got to be the Reading away game in the Dutch's season. Will never forget hearing a cheer whilst queueing for a drink at half time and assuming it must have been a Reading equaliser only for someone to run onto the concourse and shout 'we ****ing got another!' leading to chaos in the concourse. Would be interested to be reminded of any others.

4th Round Draw - Millwall or Dagenham Away

And? He clearly has asian origins. Would it be racist if I referred to you as english (not that I know if you are or not). An attitude that I cannot stand. Anyway sorry for side-tracking.

All those saying he needs more games etc etc. He's paid to train to play football every day of the week. He must have saved 10,000 shots in his time at southampton. If anybody can tell me that that performance today was a performance that justified our investment in having him at the club I will be amazed. Analysing his performance, nothing come's to mind that he did well. On the flip side he repeatedly had embarrassing cameo after embarrassing cameo. A quick look through his performance: the cross that came across goal that he chested out for a corner when it was a regulation catch. Could have gone anywhere. The inoxious shot that he amazingly decided to chest away with his hands by his side. The goal kicks that didn't reach the half way line. The goal... The high ball that he jumped up for to then take at his waist with Blackpool players attacking. The ball that played back to him that he poked out of play, admittedly it took a bobble, but he handled it terribly, one level up from missing it and it going in the goal.My point being, for someone who has spent the last 6 years of his life training to be a goalkeeper at Southampton FC, he showed no ability to play in goal, whatsoever. There was nothing. Not even a hint of positivity to cling onto to say 'well he did well there, he made one world class save etc etc'. He did absolutely nothing that was positive. We are a top end championship club, pushing to be a premier league club. If any fan can tell me that that performances reached anywhere near the standards that are acceptable for our club then I would be gobsmacked.I've always liked and supported Bart but I was in disbelief with regards to his performance today. Time for him to go elsewhere.

Congratulations...

I think you're cracked it my friend

Yea I get that. But the question is for the two to be drawn against each other at any point during the draw with either side being home. I think it gets more complicated than just 1/63 but couldn't tell you why. Hoping someone could give me the comprehensive answer I'm after. Sorry if this is boring people btw, very tedious I know just like most stats.
-
Nah that can't be right because its statistically certain that they will both get drawn at some point. If you said what are the odds of them both getting drawn and it had to be the first (for example) tie then it would be 1/64 x 1/63. But as it can occur at any point during the draw that 1/64 doesn't apply which leaves you with just 1/63. That's the way I saw it anyway. I think what my mate was tryna say is that the odds of Man City getting drawn to Man Utd are 1/63. But also that the odds of Man Utd getting drawn against Man City are 1/63. Therefore as there's two possibilities you can multiply them to get 2/63. For some reason that just doesn't fit quite right with me.... though I couldn't tell you why.
