As for Smallbone coming in, therein lies a massive problem, we have a poor first eleven, outside that the squad is pretty abysmal, so, by definition, all substitutions are going to be bad. But, the counter to this is do the substitutions actually need to be made, other than injury replacements, but that seems to be the trend throughout football. Roll on next season.

What he is trying to achieve, in my belief, is avoiding 5 - 0 hammerings, or worse. Whether that’s his preferred way of playing, he is under instruction or feels that’s the best he can do with the rabble he has at his disposal, I do not know.

I don’t think keeping the score down is a bad tactic. Look at the drubbings we have had this season, and we don’t have the tools to “show ambition” that just leads to bigger drubbings. I am disappointed in yesterday though I honestly went up there expecting to see a win. But generally, playing against anyone above the bottom three I think there is little choice. I also think Leicester and Ipswich, Leicester in particular, have more good players than we do. We have not got a single player who can affect and influence a game, take it by the scruff of the neck and drive us forward, with the possible exception of Fernandes. It’s been a terrible season, but it’s not on Rusk.
