Sure he was creative at times but he gave the ball away away on countless occasions when it was just as easy to play a simple ball ! If he could learn to eliminate this then his all round game would improve dramatically IMHO ! Personally I though we were much more effective when AL replaced him !

I was born, bred and educated in Scotland although I haven't lived there for more than 40 years ! Unlike many recent immigrants I do not have a vote on the country's destiny (fair enough, you may say!). I am ashamed and embarrassed that this referendum is even happening as I perceive it to be a personal crusade by one man seeking to leave his mark in history ! I have met Alex Salmond (well, was in his company whilst he held court!) and found him to be both arrogant and obnoxious ! I agree that money isn't everything, I was honestly trying to respond to the question in the OP ! Clearly some have done better than others in the last decade or so and inevitably that has come out in this thread ! Glad you don't feel smug about wealth because neither do I (I started with nothing and have done reasonably well but that's life, it could easily have gone the other way!).

Never claimed to be Branson and I go to South Africa in the winter but still love the lifestyle here on IoW, sailing, golf etc.. ! Have lived in Liverpool in my day so can compare to IoW and I'm quite happy here, hope the same goes for you up there also ?

I refuse to divulge my personal details on here as the young lefties would have a field day ! I watched that show last night and (just for the sake of balance) I did not think that he was denigrating Saints at all ! His point about Shaw was that he is so good that he will quickly move to a top 4 club, he was very complimentary re. Lambo (even reckoned he should get an England chance!) and with Lalanna he said very skilful but not the complete player (check out the thread on here re. his shooting and we tend to agree !). The show is all about banter anyway so nobody should take it too seriously and I can't understand why some of you are getting so hot and bothered !

What I meant was that people who have a high equity in their property are likely to leave this to their offspring ! As the average house price is currently £238k and the percentage of homeowners is around 65% that means that many of the upcoming generation will inherit a lot more than their predecessors ! You may disagree but that was my point !

Ps. I'm still paying tax on my private pension and investments etc.. so am not completely dependent on the charity of working youngsters today !!

TBF, the winter fuel allowance is a joke and should be abolished for all but the frail and most vulnerable ! I can categorically assure you that by the time I start collecting my state pension later this year, my tax contributions over 40 odd working years will amount to a hundred times more than I receive (even if I live for another 20 odd years!) and I will STILL pay tax on this at the same rate as working people !! Your generation can also expect to inherit so much more (not for everybody, I accept!) than the previous one ! I do not accept the argument that today's young people are paying for existing pensions when they were clearly self-funded over the last few decades !!
