Whatever anybody thinks of Maggie she was one of the few politicians who said what she'd do and actually did it ! 'You get what you see and you see what you get' most certainly applied to her and today's mealy mouthed, lying, cheating, spinning, bullish!tting, manipulating, hypocritical barstewards could learn some lessons on straight talking and decisive action ! I don't expect everyone to agree with her policies or agendas but at the very least she should be respected for being passionate in her quest to improve the state of the country in her time !!

You would never have guessed that from Arry's interview ! He reckoned that they have really improved and individually mentioned each of his signings (Remy, Jenas, Townsend and Samba !) as being the reasons for this ! I suppose that some will believe it, mind, the media still seem to lap it up !!

Sure he was creative at times but he gave the ball away away on countless occasions when it was just as easy to play a simple ball ! If he could learn to eliminate this then his all round game would improve dramatically IMHO ! Personally I though we were much more effective when AL replaced him !

I was born, bred and educated in Scotland although I haven't lived there for more than 40 years ! Unlike many recent immigrants I do not have a vote on the country's destiny (fair enough, you may say!). I am ashamed and embarrassed that this referendum is even happening as I perceive it to be a personal crusade by one man seeking to leave his mark in history ! I have met Alex Salmond (well, was in his company whilst he held court!) and found him to be both arrogant and obnoxious ! In the (hopefully unlikely) event that he wins and things go 'tits up', he will be out on his ear very quickly and the country will be left to pick up the pieces ! I agree that money isn't everything, I was honestly trying to respond to the question in the OP ! Clearly some have done better than others in the last decade or so and inevitably that has come out in this thread ! Glad you don't feel smug about wealth because neither do I (I started with nothing and have done reasonably well but that's life, it could easily have gone the other way!).

Never claimed to be Branson and I go to South Africa in the winter but still love the lifestyle here on IoW, sailing, golf etc.. ! Have lived in Liverpool in my day so can compare to IoW and I'm quite happy here, hope the same goes for you up there also ?

I refuse to divulge my personal details on here as the young lefties would have a field day ! Suffice to say that I retired in my late 50s and now spend a month or so each winter in the southern hemisphere and have just bought a brand new £40k Jag !
