  1. Probably, but my point is I think we should have an older experienced championship level CB alongside someone with the potential to be a Prem starter.
  2. I'd say slightly exceeded my expectations, for the first half of the season he was the only one that looked dangerous going forward.
  3. I'm all for it. We've been conditioned at this club to believe anything over 28 is over the hill. Other clubs have players that do a job well into their 30s. Wouldn't want him AND Evans though, as that would mean needing to replace them both should we get promoted. I'd rather sign one of them alongside Salisu or ABK.
  4. Spending £11million on an unproven player doesn't prove we're not skint, it just proves we're still going to gamble with our season.
  5. Always liked Graeme Murty. Wasn't he a part of our coaching set up for a while?
  6. My bad, I didn't read the whole thread and he didn't quote anyone so naturally I assumed he was talking about the person the thread is about. Carry on.
  7. Darren huckerby who retired from playing 10 years before Martin's first managerial job and has never coached at a club managed by him?
  8. Am I the only one that has never heard of Flynn Downes and isn't that impressed by his record?
  9. That's alright then, the transfer window will still be open after the first game.
  10. Yeah, I imagine they'll get a higher viewership overall but lower crowds. Trouble is the majority of people already have a team to go and support - the men's team. Take this season for example, we'll already have three games a week for most of the season. People are then expected to go a fourth time? You're supposed to justify to your other half that over half the week you're spending your evening or majority of your daytime at the football? And get enough time off of work for it as well? I don't know why they can't just accept it for what it is. Nobody complains about needing to get crowd numbers up at hockey matches.
  11. One of the weirdest things I heard Semmens or Ankersen say was that we were signing players to fill out our B team squad. Surely you sign players for the first team and the ones they replace end up in the B team?
  12. Not saying that, just given our recent history of taking players that age and throwing them into the Prem it would be strange if we sign them a league below and say "well, maybe they'll be ready in a few years".
  13. Didn't realise that Derrick Abu is 19. Seems a strange signing if there isn't even a chance he's involved in the first team at that age.
  14. Would be a shame if the team starts to break up now, a solid majority of this squad have played together since a young age for the club.
  15. Caretaker job in pre-season? Surely a publicity stunt just to say they were the first men's side managed by a woman, otherwise they'd have given her the job full time.
  16. Probably be someone new if JWP goes, an experienced player who's worked with Martin before or a captain from another championship side.
  17. I cannot believe there's anyone happy about the idea of Bazunu being our keeper next season.
  18. We already did, Aribo.
  19. They've also got Henderson and thiago that play that role, and a couple of youngsters coming through themselves that will be needing game time.
  20. Don't get your point. Bazunu isn't suddenly going to be able to save shots that he couldn't save last season just because we're in a league below. Sure he might be tested less often because of the standard of opposition, but we won't keep enough clean sheets with him in goal to mount a promotion challenge. If you're trying to make some point about how Armstrong and Adams should have been banging them in at Prem level because they did at Championship if we follow my logic, it's not in any way comparable. In the championship strikers faced a much worse standard of defender (and keeper). It was me that posted the infamous "Adams seemed to scuff most of his finishes" line when we signed him, for which I was ridiculed for ages. But go back and watch his highlights - most of his goals he had the time and space that he never got in the Prem, and the finishes he made would have been saved by a half decent keeper. Bazunu failed to stop shots in the Prem that were right next to him or on some occasions straight at him. He'll still face those kinds of shots in the championship. Put it this way - Bazunu will be conceding the type of goals that Adams was banging in in the championship which he never got the time or space to score in the Prem.
  21. I fucking hate mustard, it tastes like shit and makes me screw up my face in disgust. Maybe it's us that misunderstood what they meant.
  22. Shot stopping is shot stopping at any level, he could barely save anything that was on target last season.
  23. Think Liverpool would hinder his career personally. They have so many CM players that their fans are seeing Lavia as an option for the future in a couple of years - he's good enough for the Prem right now. If he's going somewhere it needs to be somewhere he is playing.
  24. Losing your marbles, Grandad.
  25. I can remember plenty of instances of shots being straight at Bazunu or right next to him and him either getting nowhere near them, not being strong enough to keep them out or (at least once) actually palming it into his own net when it wasn't going in.
