At the time someone from Wembley said that it was closer to 60,000 Saints fans, but there's no way of proving it.
Although I think it may have been tongue in cheek, there was certainly more than 44,000 Saints fans there. Easy to work out when you look at the ticket sales.
73,476 tickets sold in total (Saints, Carlisle and Club Wembley).
Carlisle only sold around 22,000 tickets, leaving 51,000.
It's fair enough to say that some of those club Wembley tickets might have been Carlisle fans as well...if it weren't for the fact that they didn't even sell their full allocation and actually returned over 2000 of them.

That means that there were "officially" 7000 neutral fans watching the game. Seems a tad unlikely to me.
We had over 50,000 fans there - the skates can deny it all they like, but it's the truth.
