Had great fun while in the US winding up a Lutheran and a Jew. One of the points that came up was the comment that organised religion really has become simply "another Multi-National Corporation" offering career paths to it's employees and "due process" to it's customer base. Without doubt they play a vital and valid role in the lives of many many people. Down here we have what we refer to as the "Church Souq" which is basically one building, unadorned in the manner of "Higher Churches" where people can choose to go to worship in whichever system they wish. The resident clerics have a far different role, operating in a world where many values or ways of doing things that are taken for granted at home do not exist. The occassions I have been to these, sermons have taken on a different angle, often educational rather than "preaching" I have found them far more "interesting or even uplifting" than the trips I remember from my younger days to the . Anyway, it matters not, WW3 started years ago, we just haven't figured it out yet

Noetics Dan Brown simples Well that's your PC crew for you. Here we sit in a Muslim World, with one easy mantra. Respect each other. This is the UAE this is what we are as a culture and a people, you do your thing and we'll do ours. But if you don't like something then fook off. Back there - guys, you'll be banning women from driving next...; Now there's an No soccer matches duirng daytime in Ramadan and a weekend of Friday and Saturday in case the 25 people left who go to church each week offend a working Muslim shopkeeper
-
lol... Don't worry about them Eric, only another few years and their PC police will have forcibly assimilated them into "the other lot" in case somebody causes offence by trying to go to Lidl's during prayer time.

The fundamental problem with Ryanair, is that their model is becoming the standard for all other airlines. So, everything these days is about cutting the costs. You pay for your headsets to watch a movie on flights in the US, BA don't give you food anymore, customer service? lol At the end of the day, a flight is now nothing more than a highly regulated bus. The only real difference is that people don't stand in the rain at a bus stop, but that's only because of the security concerns I'm sure. Ryanair (and the others) have made a huge difference to behaviour patterns, hopping around Europe from a local airport instead of trekking all the way up to Luton for your package tour as used to be the case in the 80's. Their business model allowed them to react to changes in customer demand whereas the dinosaurs like BA continued to sit in their ivory towers occassionally "mopping up" small regional airlines as "franchise partners" but only to suck people in "to maximise the use" of their landing slots at Heathrow and Gatwick BA cannot compete, Ryanair showed that customers can be treated like cattle, so the dinosaurs cut customer care levels further, yet still make losses. You don't get a sandwich, but their cabin crew still get to stay in 5 star level hotels. At the end of the day, like everything else, careful research before buying ANYTHING can often show better deals or hidden costs. I was going to Barcelona for a trade show. Ryanair were 9.99 each way. I had to take some pop-up stands that fitted into a golf club bag, and had to take one suitcase. By the time I finished checking all the costs online, BA were about 20 quid cheaper at 129.00 return. Price structures? used to be a saying that gets forgotten If a deal is too good to be true, it almost certainly is O'Leary comes across as a ****, and he treats his customers like cattle. However he has been damned successful over time in building the airline, and has enabled an awful lot of people to "pop away for the weekend" and see places that would never have happened 15/20 years ago. Progress of some kind, so he's probably a necessary evil Oh and think Ryanair is bad? try Aer Lingus or Yemen Airways

Well.......... You know me I ain't no PHD in English Language, and I have no idea how legislation works in the UK these days, but when I did work there it was more like ok boss, no problem boss, can you arrange for me to get a raise please boss? Oh you meant THAT!?! Well, with the local Sat channel showing James Bond from the begining every night I think I'm firmly in the none of the above category, apart from a chick not as old as me who asks nicely

Glad to see I'm not the only one who wouldn't be too upset if I had to spend a while working under her

Jan Poortvliet in relegation battle (again)
dubai_phil replied to CHAPEL END CHARLIE's topic in The Saints
Being one of the vocals who helped knife him in the back (yes WSS I got off my ass and mailed the Echo, they published and the next day "he was resigned") I hope he does pull it around. He was a good guy, who made the wrong decision at the wrong time to work for the wrong boss. Many on here will have done that in their lives -
Dear Lord, like getting blood out of a stone. I take that as a no then. So they haven't felt it necessary to ease the stress of their fans by informing them that the (rumoured) 6 months of PAYE NI & VAT have been paid with the funds from the new owner(s)? OK cool , now because I don't understand tax and stuff, are there any special rules about being 6 months in arrears to those guys? But I'm sure you were ITK with your info and they were too busy, so well done and no probs
-
Lol, at this. It was an interesting article, but never mind. WSS you are of course completely correct, and I apologise profusely that I choose not to be a sheep and post repeats of the same old drivel as around 80% of the remaining 120 active posters on here. SiP don't worry, you live in Aus, nobody else gets it. Which is why we were sent far far away And if you head back home at all via EK, let us know and stop over for a sherbert or two. Anyway just to upset our dear constant readers, had a good business meeting today, blagged my Kings of Leon & (unexpectedly) a Glasto ticket for next year. All it takes is luck... Oh & WSS - as I know nothing, could you find out who caused the very first announcement of admin Press Conference to be delayed by a few hours? Would love to know. Cheers
-
Phew, what a busy day. Not had much time to pop on here. Did I miss the Press release about the Tax Bill? Or were they far too busy selling tickets for the next match?

Sounds like a plan. PM dates and we'll check before we get Granty on the mailing task! -
Or Read that as saying Connolly hoped that a PL team or at worst a CCC team would come in for him and offer him a contract... Who cares, he's here for the rest of the season and motivated to do well for us... Crikey a PL quality player joins us in L1..... Hope he's better than our PL quality players we had in the CCC, great job they all did Politics not withstanding of course
-
Out of interest, for which of the (rumoured) 6 months overdue was this? (That policeman who popped round earlier turned out quite helpful eventually!) But well done if it was all of it
-
I just get some advert explaining why the women in Rock Bottom are all fat?

When we moved to SMS I had a season ticket for all our PL years. I bought it in case (hahahaha) we'd still be in the PL when I moved back and I would be stuck and put onto a waiting list or to be unable to sit with my mates. I made about 3 or 4 games a year and used the "responsible friend" approach for the games I couldn't make. The ticket was used just about every week, never a problem. Trousers. Bit worried about your girlfriend
