  1. Didn't know you were a Muslim Alps. How many you allowed over there? When I first came over I spent 12 months away before I went back home. So anyways I get home, she makes me a nice cup of tea (bleah Tetley - by then it was too late I was already hooked on Lipton Yellow Label) (Ex) Wife asks me So what is it like? Living in a land with no beer (this was before the interweb) Well I said, I've be learning the Teachings of The Prophet (PBUH) and it has helped me through these difficult times. In fact, I have converted. I'll take you round to meet my other wives this afternoon... In HINDSIGHT, it probably wasn't the best idea ever coming out with that old joke at the PRECISE moment of the wrong time of the month, but hey, the surgery covered all the scars and it only took them 5 hours to get the deep fat fryer out of my head......
  2. A Watershed moment? The End of Britain's role as the US Deputy? The death of Camoron? I seriously hope not. Even Miliband said he would support action if the facts were clear and obvious. (Which actually worries me more) What I hope to see in the next couple of days is not hand wringing over The Vote (which was CLEARLY the RIGHT thing) What the UK now has is a chance to actually think WHY the Vote failed and to look at what some of the far more eloquent voices are saying in a way far better than I have been able to on here. Syria will only be "resolved" by outside intervention, the Civil war will, like Lebanon run on and on for a Decade with the different factions in the Rebellion eventually fighting each other. So although The West "Seemed" to like Sound-bite politics these days, they have been faced with something incredibly complicated. The SOLUTION needs everyone and needs all the factors taken into consideration. Just the mantra of GIVE THEM DEMOCRACY is no longer enough, they need a stable environment for that to work. The Russians need to have their say in the shape of the future. Migration to a pure Democracy and a new Independent Syria may need to take more than 4 years (the furthest ahead that any Western Politician ever bothers to think about). I don't know what the answer is, it MAY one day involve Cruise Missiles. But right now it was NEVER going to be this easy. Yesterday's vote WAS important. Those Tory rebels MAY have just saved the lives of several tens of thousands of Israelis, Cypriots and British civilians. Bashar would not have run off to hide in a hole in the ground when the bombs fell......
  3. Not to mention Jake the P...... Oh good grief even the dirty raincoat when he was on ToTP
  4. What odds can you get on Luke Shaw not playing the full 90 minutes? He's been called up for the U-21's so is bound to take a knock.............
  5. Oh in answer to the OP. No, not yet. Chambers is being focused on defending. The time WILL come when he starts to play more like Clyne/Shaw but right now, no way Oh and am happy to have him in the team he is more than capable but Clyne adds more
  6. He started right and was meh OK We then took off Morgan and changed to only 1 DM in VW and gave JWP licence to roam in CM and he looked REAL class Away from home think we need 2 DM's at home when teams park the bus we may have found a home grown answer with a formation tweak
  7. Well, if the recession bites into their advertising revenues and they have to reduce costs, at least that will have some value (unlike all the others issued) ' They'll be able to use it to wipe their asses on
  8. Oh THANK GOD for the Trust. I am SO glad that they did not die. The LAST thing any one of the other 92 clubs in the League wants are fans like this. FFS Football is a Respectable BUSINESS these days, we don't want no Walmart families hanging round proper Football Stadiums Oh, and with fashion sense like that it makes you wonder what their POL version of Turkish must be like)
  9. For me this is the KEY issue. Missile strikes MAY succeed. But to do that THIS WEEK? No NO NO. Look, Bashar MAY have allowed the strikes, he MAY have been stitched up, but where in Western Law does it say you must initiate a Death Penalty for a crime of ANY sort within a week? I am NOT against taking him out, BUT, FFS can't the politicians JUST FOR ONCE sit down and discuss the EXIT PLAN before they rush headlong into firing off missiles? Once Bashar is gone, THEN what? What mechanisms are in place to give/sustain Aid, Medical Supplies etc? What Mechanism is in place to call ALL the disparate Opposition groups together and plan a Unification Government? Just HOW do the West propose to seize control of the actual stocks of Chemical Weapons already produced? Are there any Marines left available? How will the West supply Logistics & support to THEM? Or are they just going to leave them for the Al Qaeda nutters to walk in and collect? (Oh and don't tell me the West will destroy EVERYTHING from Cruise Missile Strikes) How about just for once have a plan for the PEOPLE. Oh and don't give me the "Well it may stop him doing it again line" 1,000's on both sides are dying each week and have done for 2 years. IF they get the Peace wrong how many Christians will die? How will they police the Sunni & Shia factions, what about the Druze? FFS Lebanon has often been called "A County of Syria" didn't the West remember ANYTHING from the unholy mess THAT country descended into when THEY initially rebelled against a corrupt regime? Ask Terry Anderson what that country became. UN has a big role to play here they MUST keep this moral, legal but MOST important must have an Infrastructure of support ready to be in place 5 minutes after Bashar raises the white flag. What breaks MY heart, (having travelled extensively through that beautiful Country many times over 15 years) is that they will let it go to rat sh1t and things will get WORSE
  10. Not so sure a Saints fan should be admitting a liking for Pony Fiddling. That's gonna give the phew ammunition for another 50 years. Somehow I get the feeling that by the end of the Season Bearsey is gonna be needing Police Protection after offending the fans of EVERY club in the PL. Perfects.
  11. Mmmmmmmmmm Oscar Mayers
  12. Thanks for that Verbal, shame it got buried in point scoring about old posts on other threads. I'll tell that to my pal so he can let hs family in Damascus what some people think of the issues. The scenario you have posted also gives rise to a fully UN authorised use of weapons as much as it shows an AUTHORISED use. Think we've all seen enough movies (24 Days Later or whatever) to know that Army Units & Commanders can go bonkers. Again, the BURDEN of proof is so very hard Kim what'shisname Moon at the UN is right though. THREAT is now needed not ACTION (but a very REAL threat) but Diplomacy at Gunpoint may form a crack and lead to a proper END PLAN - which is all that the People of Syria really want. They don't want Bashar gone and more deaths, because then the Russian support will have gone and they will start to starve to death
  13. Lolz just appeared in my In Box (To help y'all out General Sisi is an Egyptian General) Iran is backing Assad. Gulf states are against Assad! Assad is against Muslim Brotherhood. Muslim Brotherhood and Obama are against General Sisi. But Gulf states are pro Sisi! Which means they are against Muslim Brotherhood! Iran is pro Hamas, but Hamas is backing Muslim Brotherhood! Obama is backing Muslim Brotherhood, yet Hamas is against the US! Gulf states are pro US. But Turkey is with Gulf states against Assad; yet Turkey is pro Muslim Brotherhood against General Sisi. And General Sisi is being backed by the Gulf states! Welcome to the Middle East and have a nice day.
  14. Depends on how this illness bug thing goes I guess but with Jos & Guly off sick last night Boruc Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw Morgan Wanyama JRod JWP Lallana Lambert Would give great options from the bench, think Osvaldo from the start would be too risky yet until he learns a bit more about the niggles & nudges of the PL KD Gaston Osvaldo Davis Chambers Jos/Maya Cork
  15. Take out the word Conspiracy from Pap's postings and replace it with Incompetence then what he says makes more sense. The simple fact is that The West simply doesn't understand how to deal with Arab Leaders like Saddam et al. They all have "Small Penis Syndrome". The more you DEMAND, the more they rebuff you. We always used to say the way to get rid of Bashar was to give him full approval ratings and DEMAND that he stays in Power for ever - he'd be off before you could say where's the keys?
  16. My entire point. All those nippers will get SOME game time this year, odd sub appearances Cup games (maybe Chambers can keep his place of course?!?) BUT next season they could all be able to play even start 4, 5, 6 games. Then you have your squad depth as they all look capable of being able TDAJFU. By bringing in a Season long loan now we do not block their progress for next season. The Loan will have to be a hell of a player to force out any of our current MF or Attack options IF they all play to their potential every week, so he becomes the cover, the alternative off the bench (ie what we kinda hoped Mayuka would be this season). With the squad we now have, we've got good cover, Christ, Fonte has been in the Team of the Week two weeks running and earned a bunch of points on my mate's Fantasy Football and Maya will improve to at least last season's level when he was half decent. Don't think we need to load too many more into the squad right now on 3 year deals when the kids could be as good or better - unless Banega, Mata or Luiz or Ronaldo come in on a Freebie of course We can always bring someone else in January,
  17. Oh FFS just typed a lovely reply & the interweb crashed and I lost it all. Will reply laters gotta get out the Free Trade Zone before the mad rush of female office workers try and get through the Security gates Oh, no I didn't. Back in THOSE days Tokes we only flew Hosties, not the planes matey Hostie - flying every part of the world, disorganised sleep patterns. Attention span of 3 or max 4 days. Heaven.
  18. Wow that is AMAZING. How the hell did you work that out? yes, I qualified for my PPL back in 1992 & logged just over 100 hours in a mix of Cessna's, piper Cherokees & Streak Shadow out of Old Sarum Airfield. I once even did a Booze run to France. As for work. Nah. I was an "Our Man in Havana" type for a Nasdaq listed Company. Could always make up a meeting - Regional marketing Strategy, Logistics & Supply Chain review, Oktoberfest, (oops Quarterly Review meeti8ng at Head Office) Factory Acceptance Testing for clients (Galway races). Oh those were the days. 500,000+ Airmiles I had at one time. Down side was when you got into the meetings you'd tend to find that all the Marketing B1tches with their know-it-all MBA's (More Bloody Arrogant) tended to be suffering the same symptoms. I tended to find solace in a bucket of fresh Guinness or a Schweinhaxe & Dunkel Bier or a Bottle of Effes, round of Golf at Sun City or of course a Saints Away day.
  19. Hang on, have you paid the copyright fee? You're not allowed to mention Golf on TMS without registering. Meanwhile, I was lucky, I used to have a job where I could make up a very important meeting somewhere and hop on a plane for 4 or 5 days.
  20. Look on the Brightside, at least we have a song for him.. and it is nothing to do with MoPo Wonder what Reading's new managers' song will be?
  21. Deep down probably yes. Right now? This is more a case of the Iranian issue. Israel & US want to wipe out the Ayatollahs BEFORE they get their hands on Nukes. World Opinion is making that very difficult But the stupid thing is that it's not ONLY Israel that has issues with Iran. The Saudis have been fighting a mini-war (sorry Arab Spring) proxy in Bahrain, the UAE runs to the UN every 6 months about the theft of a couple of Islands & the Qataris' can't make their minds up, one week they opened Israeli Trade Missions, the next they are funding rebel groups in Syria who are fighting Saudi funded groups in Syria. Don't even TRY and make this simple. It is a monumental Cluster f*** And all this let's Bomb the bstd rhetoric is just a disaster. WHAT is the End Game you Idiots? There is NO unified Resistance to Bashar, hell they couldn't even turn up for a conference to list what they wanted once he was gone. At least under Bashar the Russians had some influence & the UN had access to The Golan Heights & Peackeepers in country. Obama & Camoron turn it into Somalia? WTF do they think will happen then? Get the End game sorted THEN blow the asshole up Christ, how many times do they need to make the same mistake? Or is it that they never REALLY took it seriously as there was no big OIL opportunities in the country
  22. Think it through. Rowe reed & Sinclair all look like they could make the grade, but aren't ready yet (example JWP has been much more assertive & effective this season. Chambers is appearing to be "better safe than sorry" and doesn't yet have the confidence or experience of Shaw to bang forward at every opportunity" The new crop of nippers need SOME game time this year and more development work - so it actually makes a lot of sense to bring in a quality Loan for a season as those kids could be doing the business by next pre-season
  23. Great comment last night on Solent about our formation. Our players do not play IN a position Our players play FROM a position Now, all we need to do is all take a UEFA coaching badge so we can truly understand that. THEN we can post
  24. Hooiveld had a sore throat so was left out last night. Guly decision even surprised the Solent crew who got no answers to their questions. Lot of praise was given (by Solent) to MP last night for not panicking in 1st half when he played Mayuka alone up front and then changing things around at HT to very good effect switching Isgrove to left dropping Mayuka to right & JRod up front
  25. Lols at some of the posts. Last night in the post match wrap-up Merry Davington didn't know what to cream his pants over first. Was it to be the way that Ramirez stepped up to the plate in the second half and took leadership? Or the "Kids" Gaston missed not only the pre-season games but also all of the in-jokes, banter, fire-walking and of course VW's karaoke moment. It was always going to take him (and Maya) time to get up to the same wavelength the rest of the guys are on. The GREAT news for us is that he is now getting back to where he should be AND we have had an unbeaten start to the season while he was getting there. With the performance by our back up players (admittedly against a poor Championship team) AND the emergence of our Yoof, it really is Onwards & Upwards at the moment
