Comprehensive coverage of the black holes and scortched earth policy of the outgoing Labour government. I also see that it looks like there will be a Lord Prescott. This union stuff is very lucrative and socialism does benefit someone....usually the politicians and leaders at the top.

RIP My friend is a GP and he had to deal with a 22 year old girl who passed away suddenly yesterday, leaving a 6 month old baby and an understandably distraught young man. It's so so sad to be struck down when in the prime of life.

It is about what I think right now as Hunting didn't feature much in the election. I want my politicians to sort out the mess we are in. 10's of thousands of people are losing thier jobs every month and as a country we are not far off being bankrupt. As I said, I don't have a strong view either way because there are more important things to worry about. Fix them first, then 'we' can move on to less important things and I may come round to forming a view.

Fair enough, I was being a bit silly I don't have a strong opinion on the fox hunting issue either way (probably against on the basis that I don't want to see animals suffer). At the time of the ban, I was against it purely because there were more important issues to deal with. Now the ban is here, I would be against changing it on the basis that there are even more more important issues to deal with.

I'm sure you would find it fun to run amok with a machine gun at the next tory party conference.

Which doesn't look good for the Millibands. One brother standing against another is not good IMO. You should support your brother or sister.

What if the Lib-Con coalition ends up working really well?
Johnny Bognor replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
They were talking about this on the news last night. Under the war coalition between Churchill and Atlee, Atlee 'disengaged' 1 month before the election in order to run his campaign. I guess the Lib Dems will disengage 1-2 months before the next election, thus leaving a minority Tory government to keep things running. This will enable them to fight a better campaign and put some daylight between the parties. Not that I know, but it seemed to be the concensus from various experts. This does have an impact on future TV debates as the opposition leaders attack the PM of the day. It will be difficult for Dave to attack Nick or Nick to attack Dave, which means that Milliband will be on the offensive while the other two cover each others backsides. -

I agree with Nic.........ola

I think everyone does to be fair. Nick is a political genius as Brown couldn't stop agreeing with him in the leaders debates, whilst Dave is his new best friend. I wish I was Nick.

I agree with Nick

Don't you get enough days off already???

Couldn't see chemistry like this between Brown & Clegg http://cdnedge.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8678196.stm?ls

Although this shows you have a sense of humour, I am sure the additional 53,000 people who lost their jobs are not laughing (Jesus, I am sounding like a socialist, maybe the Lib Dem thing is rubbing off). As it happens though, the figure is to the end of March. So we've yet to see what additional damage has been done by the end of April.

OK, fair enough. As it happens, I think it is worth remembering that without wealthy people having an interest in football (and Markus is part of one of Europe's top business dynasties), we might not have a football club right now. I didn't see Arthur Scargill walking up to bail Saints out.
-
Oh, so Mao Crap is allowed to interrupt the caption competition and you have no problem with that. I respond to his point, proving him wrong and you've now got a problem. It's not totally irrelevant to what is in essence a Football forum.

Read the last entry http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/FamousFans/0,,10265,00.html His uncle was a former Villa Chairman. Maybe he is in favour of AV afterall.

Who knows? There are some key areas where there will be flashpoints (Europe, Immigration and Electoral Reform) even if they appear to have appeased each other. However, I think on taxation and the economy there is concensus. So for the big issue of the day, the economy, things will be alright in the short term. If things progress economically over the next 1-2 years, then the other issues will probably come in to play. Therefore, I give it 1-2 years.

I am coming round to this. I actually now think it will be a good thing and 1 week ago I was predicting armagedon with a hung paliament. I prefer the current scenario to a Labour majority (so I will have to take back what I have said previously)

TBF, Brown is the Peter Storrie, bankrupting their respective organisations with crippling debts.
-
During the election campaign he was forced to admit that the 6bn cuts would have little impact. It was the economics guru/genius that "argued vociferously against this recently saying it will set back the recovery"

As it happens, he's a Villa fan......(Read the last entry) http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/FamousFans/0,,10265,00.html He is the nephew of a former Villa chairman, so to be fair, he probably does know what football is, but don't let your class prejudice cloud your normally "balanced" (ahem) judgement
