Bit late to this conversation but he nearly quit in lockdown to become a police officer because he got let go by a previous club. He eventually got picked up by Go Ahead Eagles and then Hereenveen this season. He's had a very weird career, slightly helped internationally by Netherlands not really having any particularly good keepers.

All around the world people have the game on TV but are sat around looking at their phones.

Easily the least interested the country has been in a World Cup. No flags on cars, pubs aren't all decked out with the St George's cross. Partly I guess it's because big shops and supermarkets have all their Xmas stuff in so don't have room for aisles of foam hands and plastic hats this time.

He also scored a kind of scissor kick away at QPR in about 1992 to equalise and make it 2-2. I've looked on YouTube but can't find it. Edit - actually it was David Hughes not Oakley. And it was 1994. No wonder I couldn't find it!

Haha, Folland are doing ok. I go and watch their U18's sometimes because Kai played for them last season and knows a load of their players.

That's potentially a nice load of games. Will be like being back in League 1 again when we seemed to play twice a week every week. Beating Lincoln would see us having 7 games in 23 days. Something to look forward to after the World Cup.

I have a soft spot for that goal too. Came at a time when we were playing some great football. I really can't pick the best goal I've seen. Personally I prefer great runs or team moves over someone smashing one in from 30 yards. I'd probably go for Boufal against West Brom which gets extra marks for making 2 players run into each other or that Ekulend goal featuring a bunch of 1-2's with MLT.
