  1. You've never had it so good. I remember regularly queuing for 3 hours at The Dell to get general sale tickets before I had an ST. Back then you needed to go on the waiting list for an ST and to do that you had to have a certain number ticket stubs from previous games. Joining the Masons was probably easier. I'm expecting £600 for the ends, £700 for centres.

He doesn't strike me as the type to want to Rest in Peace. Off to play the back catalogue turned up to 11
  3. If there is a HD version of the stream yes it would download it, however I can't find it on the iPlayer website. Was it broadcast in HD? Nothing on the schedule for Saturday...
  4. I'm sure the management won't complain but finishing the 5-year plan ahead of schedule puts us in a slightly tricky position financially. I would think that they would have wanted the Academy & Staplewood fully up to Prem quality before getting there, so that we can fund ourselves by not having to buy expensive players (i.e. we will be using our Academy graduates instead). There's no reason why we shouldn't produce more Bales, Walcotts, & Oxos, difference being that if we are in the Prem we can afford to keep them. So I think further investment will be needed to ensure we stay up for long enough until we can be self-sustaining off the back of the Academy.
  5. For those of you who want to make your own (and have access to the iPlayer stream - which will be available until Saturday AM) you can make a very high quality copy using get_iplayer. For Windows PCs (easiest, you need to be a bit of nerd to make this work on the Mac) you can download it here: http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer_win/get_iplayer_setup_latest.exe Once you've downloaded that and run the installer (it will automatically install the various bits and bobs you need) you need to fire up a Windows command prompt (Start, Run, and enter cmd in the box) Find where you installed get_iplayer (by default it should be in C:\Program Files\get_iplayer) and in the command prompt navigate to that directory (enter all the following commands without the quotes): Type "C:\" and press enter Type "cd Program Files\get_iplayer" and press enter Type "get_iplayer --pid b01h0qch" and press enter *Hopefully* this should start downloading the program and automatically convert it to an .mp4 file which you can play on most computers and iPhones, etc. This will take a while depending on how fast your PC is - video crunching like this is very resource-intensive. Its best not to have anything else running whilst you do it. If that doesn't work there is a help file here: http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/documentation It's well worth saving for posterity, great coverage and plenty of fan interaction etc. (plus Deano swearing and and Nigel almost blubbing)
  6. For those of you who don't follow Twitter Billy Sharp will be auctioning the boots he wore on Saturday for charity on eBay. Not up there yet, but what a great piece of memorabilia... http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/lueyjacobsharpfoundation/?_trksid=p4340.l2559
  7. Your fans were a credit to your club today, thanks for joining in the party. Great to hear you singing loud and proud at the end. Good luck in L1, its actually a fun division. Have a go at the JPT, you should be good enough to win it. Oh and take 6 points off Pompey if they still exist
  8. Any of Bolton, Blackburn, and Wigan. Horrible arse end of the world awaydays we can do without.
  9. We don't need any players. Look at what Swansea & Norwich have achieved by giving the players wot go them promotion the chance. Our squad will be massively motivated to be playing in the top flight (only Kelvin has done so I think, assuming Connoly retires?). Let them DAJFU and strengthen in January if needed. They deserve it.
  10. Even there he is looking out for the lads, got the impression he was worried about them getting hurt in the scrum.
  11. I'm starting to wonder - the only time a match has been postponed at SMS was for waterlogging (Crystal Palace a few years back). Flooding on Third Avenue this afternoon, ground is completely saturated already (New Forest has huge amounts of standing water, garden is flooded at parents' house in Sholing. Not sure whether it would be an advantage or not, obviously we'd know the Wham result and therefore exactly what we needed to do.
  12. Given that the manual gearbox in a Golf is still one of the worst (no feel, sloppy changes, flappy clutch pedal) in a mainstream car I'd go for one. Make sure that whatever car you buy has full service history, the DSG is highly complex and needs the right care and attention (correct fluids and service intervals etc.) FWIW if you get a transmission problem on a manual Golf you're still looking at a big bill because of the dual mass flywheel and the fact that the slave cylinder is inside the gearbox. Just had a full transmission service on my 02 Golf TDI and got a few pence change from a grand - new clutch, flywheel, and ancillaries. Admittedly mine has 170k on the clock and was still on the original clutch... If you read enough forum posts you'll scare yourself off a DSG, there are regular horror stories about the DSG. I would probably avoid a 10yo/high-miler but something newer should be fine (if serviced correctly).
  13. Everyone will be 100% behind the lads on Saturday, it will be a cauldron of noise. Just enough time before the game for a few ales to lubricate the atmosphere. Everything is under our control here, there is no reason to lack confidence. Be patient and the result will come.
  14. With all he has been through this year, Billy Sharp. Or, in the event that he plays, an Aaron Martin bullet header /local hero
  15. Holloway not happy about losing Varney... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17813380
  16. This. With Kelvin scoring the winner
  17. The word you are looking for is exciting I'd rather have it this way than have it all done and dusted weeks ago. This is part of our culture, its what you sign up for when you "choose" to follow a team like Saints. Its for the brief moments in the sun like '76, 82/83, 2003. Its for the last chance saloon survivals against relegation, for Dellhurst, for dicking Spurs live on TV, for Pahars scoring against the Skates, for staying up on goal difference ahead of Manchester Citeh. I'm clearly a masochist, along with Saints I follow the New England Patriots (**** for the first 20 years I supported them), St Kilda in Aussie Rules (ditto), Seattle Mariners (ditto - and they even have a Le Tiss-esque genius playing for them), Ferrari in F1 (started supporting them the year after Scheckter won the title in '79, didn't win again until ~2000), and the Chicago Cubs (cursed for not letting a fan bring a goat in to the stadium, would have made a World Series but for one of their own fans trying to catch a foul ball). It's what I love about sport. I'd hate to be a ManU fan where the expectation is to win every week and the only true emotion you feel is dissapointment at the occasional defeat. Better to have years of disappointment and then a couple of seasons like we've just had. My mate's kids are just getting properly in to football (to the point it consumes their lives), and it reminds me of when I was their age and we'd just signed Keegan - they've become Saints fans at a truly blessed time.
  18. Most hosting places will let you use your own domains as long as you have access to your DNS records so you can set up the subdomain/alias (e.g mysite.spudgun.com) Certainly Wordpress and Blogger do. If you haven't already bought your domain a lot of places include a free website if you buy the domain through them. I usually get my domains through 123-reg.co.uk for .co.uk or GoDaddy for .coms
  19. Bloody hell, you forget what a threat Le Tiss was, we don't have anyone who would try most of what he did in that game, and I'm not sure that there are many better players in the Prem at the moment. 2nd goal was all about commitment - CMFG putting his foot in and Marian sticking his head in. Missed that game because I was away working, first time I've seen the highlights
  20. May be a simple question but why can't Pompey sack all their players? Clearly they have failed to perform this year because they've been relegated. A normal company would have had them all on final written warnings by now. See no reason why employment law shouldn't apply to footballers - its not like they have any value in the transfer market so they're liabilities, not assets.

    Nigel

I want us to go up by scoring a last minute winner against Cov, after coming back from a 3 goal deficit. Guly hatrick with assists from Fonte so I can turn round to the bloke who spends most of the game moaning about them both and tell him to shut the **** up. Alternatively, Leicester smashing West Ham will do WE WILL BE FINE
  22. Right, can the refs all blow up now please? I make it almost 5pm...

  24. In the technology world, particularly cameras this goes on all the time, to the point that the companies deliberately leak stuff to increase coverage. Under the Computer Misuse Act he's done nothing wrong, a website is a publically accessible system.
