  1. Whisky And ashamed to say I now prefer the veg which comes with the roast to beef itself.
  2. Like all good plans it is simple. Build world class academy, get to PL, stay in PL to get a share of latest TV contract, keep youth players. As FFP kicks in an TV money dries up (got to happen eventually) we're best placed to reap the rewards. Win European trophies with a squad that's 60% academy lads? Definitely possible.
  3. Fulham supporting mates went to Baku on their epic tour, surreal experience. In the middle of a stadium full of flares going off they decided to light sparklers. They had a brilliant experience, lifelong memories formed. And nightmares in the form of Diego Forlan
  4. Top of the fair play league at the moment, chance of a Europa League place?
  5. This. Frequently we were unplayable when they were on song. Tore teams apart the way we did at the start of last season
  6. Another plus for the Braishfield/Kings Somborne/Stockbridge area, lovely part of the world. Family originally from Michelmersh. Easy run in to Crawley, absolutely no traffic and good driving roads so you could even enjoy a decent motor for the commute. Plenty of good pubs/eateries in Stockbridge.
  7. Close to being Best.Post.Evah in this thread, my hernia hates you
  8. Lol, they can't even afford players with full names: 86:44 Substitution Substitution Adam Webster goes off and D Butler comes on.
  9. He'd better hope the meeting isn't in a wood-pannelled garage /goodfellas
  10. Bless them, only a 4-man subs bench. Clearly this is unfair and diminishes the spirit and integrity of the competition
  11. Nothing particularly new, there's been big Polish communities in the south for years. Pre-war Reading had a big community, there's been a Polish Catholic church there for decades. Loads came here after WW2 because they couldn't go home, and these were people who fought hard in the Battle of Britain and up through Italy. One unit was formed from people who had been captured by the Russians, used for slave labour, freed, walked to Afghanistan/Iran, and joined the British Army. Great film called "The Way Back" covers some of this. Also see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_migration_to_the_United_Kingdom#Second_World_War_period for how vital they were to the war effort (particularly cracking early Enigma codes)
  12. Won't somebody think of the integrity of the competition? Its hardly fair on all those teams that lost to them early in the season when they were spending money they didn't have.
  13. Completely agree, music ****es me off before kickoff
  14. Alcudia good for families, or if want slightly quieter go for Puerta Pollensa. Lovely scenery round there, safe sandy beaches, and a very quiet relaxing holiday. Easy transfers from airport, only about 30 mins on a good run. Good to get up in the mountains on non- beach days. Out of season it's full of pro cyclists training for the road races, Wiggo and Froome are out there now with Team Sky.
  15. Even if he is close to being fit, mad to risk him on a night like tonight. Hard pitch and well below freezing not the best way to come back
  16. Fair points well made, just slightly surprised to be hearing them from you given your penchant for a protest at work
  17. I'm genuinely shocked by the attitude of some of our fans, admittedly a vocal minority. Setting aside football there is a fundamental moral wrong here. A fellow human being who has done nothing wrong and who hasn't been given a chance doesn't deserve to be treated this way. I really want no part of it but I love my club. It's the powerlessness that gets to me most. Mate said his feelings about this are the same as when he was fighting for custody of his kids and access rights. It's like watching a loved one suffer and you can do nothing about it because to do anything is to cut off your nose to spite your face. You're over a barrel with no way out. Thing is, the man himself would tell us to find the positive, control the controllables, and go forward together as one. It's just bloody hard to do that. As with the dark days of Lowe and administration I tell myself that the club goes on forever whilst the people there are merely temporary custodians. I want to protest but have no way to do so without hurting the club, and the club is everything. We have no way of getting rid of C**tese and he is all that is wrong with the club. We don't need to run things the way he is doing in order to be successful. This is not a business where you need to **** on your employees, sell your grandmother, and be ruthless in all you do. I had great respect for the man when he came in, and the eulogy he read for Marcus. By doing this to Adkins in this manner he has destroyed that respect as clearly they can't be the actions of the same human being. He has revealed his true nature in doing this. Part of me agrees that Nigel was learning as he was going along, but so were the players and the rest of he staff. They were doing it together as one as that is the best way to learn. And they were doing OK and in the final reckoning would have scraped by. If you accept he had to go then fair enough, but do it in the right way for the right reasons. This is only sport, not life and death, and the impact of a club failing is very small in the grand scheme of things - thousands of jobs or lives are not at risk here. Why succession-plan months in advance? You might do it at a big corporation but this Is Saints. On Monday night what I'd like to do is tell ****ese exactly what I think of him. My initial reaction was that I couldn't set foot in St Mary's again with him in charge. Thing is, I know Nigel would say to get behind the team, they are all that matters here, as is your love for your club. Rise above the filth and know that eventually it will be washed away. It's just bloody hard to do. As fans we have to take the moral high ground and given that its on Sky I feel a vociferous protest before kickoff is needed, followed by 90 minutes of all out support for the team. Remember, the club is everything.
  18. Because he hasn't been given a chance And because without his management he wouldn't have got us in this position Because he's the best English manager of his generation Because he was good for the club Because this is not the way a decent human being should be treated We are Saints, we are better than this. We have lowered ourselves to the level of Chelsea and the Skates in doing this.
  19. Fond memories of Chemistry with Mr Mills @ WPBS. Got to play with proper dangerous stuff, whole year spent blowing things up/setting fire to stuff. Magnesium, sulphur, thermic lances, sodium in water, phosphorous, squeaky pops, hydrochloric acid burning through desks, filling sports bags with gas and exploding them, bloody marvellous. Complete H&S nightmare He would approve of this little experiment (FFWD to 3:40 if you're impatient) http://www.wimp.com/scientistnitrogen/ Overall, sodium in water for me, but only because we didn't get to play with that acid which dissolves glass - hydrofluoric?
  20. Used to be the same at the Anglesea Tavern (now the Chapel Arms), certainly late 80s I remember seeing strippers there...
  21. Need to give him the number 5 shirt so he can be Red 5, standing by. Need to exploit the whole Star Wars* angle *for the teenagers, it was a bit like Twilight or Harry Potter, ask your Dad
  22. New boots for Christmas?
  23. The chairmen for selling Walcott Bale & Oxo
  24. Sharp and his missus/girlfriend spent most of last year running LJS Trust and being interviewed about it so can't see how they would have split up. Having said that from personal experience I know the loss of a child often destroys even the strongest relationship so it wouldn't surprise me.
  25. 1) Try not to buy any more expensive gadgets 2) Work on getting promoted or if not change jobs 3) Find a new hobby
