  1. Just watched MOTD as was out avoiding football this pm. The editor seems to have a different perspective to many posters. We had chances, defended like Fulham for 20 mins but overall it seemed exactly what was expected. We beat them they beat us, honours even move on. Shame Stephens is struggling I had high hopes of him. Yoshi is a hardened pro, even if error prone, we need him back. My god we need a striker. Why on earth sell Gabbi and when he was why not call back Carillo, he wasn't that bad. Play Gallagher or Adams, just roll the dice. Lots of must win games now. Bet they end up as draws. I'm not afraid of the Championship, it is a fun league. A bit of a deep clean can be useful. Still not inevitable other teams are as rubbish as us. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  2. Not sure I agree with some of their suppositions, they certainly shouldn't be going anywhere near a bookmaker. It is a bit like timeform in horse racing, if it was that easy we would all be rich. They have Saints on 38 points, so that is 14 points from from the next 12 games. That is 3 wins and 2 draws. I'd like to think they will come from Arsenal, Fulham, Brighton, Wolves, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Huddersfield but it would need a dramatic turnaround on the seasons form to achieve that. I really cannot see that happening as we have no new players to provide an option. What is required is a backs against the wall first don't lose mentality. Aim to beat Bournemouth, Fulham, Huddersfield, and scrape another 5 draws. Looking to the positive Saints's away form is way better than their home form. This bodes well for Brighton, Newcastle, and West Ham games. The Watford game will be tagged on to the end of the season and they will be on their holidays. Some big games this week Cardiff/ Everton, Newcastle / Burnley, Leicester/ Brighton Things will be a lot clearer by next week that is for certain.
  3. I must admit i wasn't sure about the leadership aspect. Have to wait 10 years to find out Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  4. Bertie is one our jewels and I don't blame RH one bit for being cautious about his return. Targett is a more than decent option so there is no rush. I think we have just been told the truth. Bertrand certainly comes across as intelligent and a leader, aa much as you can tell from a distance. He probably has his eyes on management in the future. For that he needs a stable career and a club that will look after him and support him with coaching qualifications. A quiet professional purposeful career is the name of the game for him. Que big transfer to Everton! Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  5. Yep that is crucial. Keep them in the mix. Obviously want a win and I think Saints will edge it as long as they ride their luck and be brave. On reflection I'd have Gallagher up front. He has to be an option now if Ings is injured. Chaz is better off the bench.... a relative statement obviously. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  6. Of course this isn't a must win game. There are13 games left for goodness sake. 7 of those are more than possible wins. On top of this there are 5 other teams in the brown sticky stuff with us. It is perm one from 6. On top of that Saints have the easiest run in and are unbeaten in 2019. This sort of scenario usually means 35 points is enough. Remaining unbeaten is crucial. Saturday's game is not must win but certainly avoid a Cardiff win and we seem quite good at that. Ralph will play it safe with hopefully some names to have a run out. McCarthy Valery Bendarek Stephens Vestergaard Targett JWP PEH Romeou Redmond Austin Hopefully subs will be Gunn Yoshida Bertrand Lemina Gallagher Armstrong Long Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  7. Good grief bit noisy on here. Why do people have to get personal, just opinions. I'm sure there a few of us on here who have refed a bit and trust me in real time you don't get the chance for that level of analysis. Neither do you look to equalise decisions, no ref wants to go down that road. There lies madness. If you make a mistake you just try to ensure there are no more. The first was a pen clear as day. I can only assume the ref felt the ball had been kicked further away than it actually was. Poor decision, it happens move on with the game. Barnes should be serving a 3 match ban for his outburst disgraceful. That really is something refs should stamp on. 2nd was obviously handball. Why wasn't Bendarek or Vestergaard on Crouch. He is known for those shenanigans. A bit daft from Stephens he needs to concentrate more and avoid these brain farts, rest of his game is improving. Ref should have blown for the shirt tug, however they let so many go these days it isn't surprising. His matcj report won 't make easy reading. I really hope VAR never arrives, it will kill debates like this. It is half the fun. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  8. Cedric was a real problem at RB. Constantly targetted and exposed by opposition managers. He was just physically too short and too easily pushed off the ball. I'm pleased for him that he has a new challenge at Inter but for me Valery is an improvement. Stephens can play RB if necessary as can Targett. It's all good nothing to see.RB position can be sorted in the summer. What we do need is another CB and or striker. Not vital but it would be useful. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  9. Never doubted Vestergaard
  10. Wouldn't do any worse although harsh on Redmond he played ok today certainly a constant source of problems. McCarthy made some good saves as well so no need for Gunn at the moment. Hughes lost that game because of three reasons. - Playing Austin from the start, he simply cannot lead the line, love his passion but he is an impact sub nothing more. Today he lost the ball time and time again and they scored from two of these occasions. Yoshida was horribly exposed and was sucked into the midfield, allowing Fulham to spread the ball wide and that was that. - Playing Cedric, he is easily beaten at the far post, every large centre forward knows it and he is targeted every game. Stephens or Bendarek would do better and maybe play Cedric further forward. - The players are simply not fit enough. At one point Redmond broke from our half having dispossessed a Fulham player, he charged up the wing great opportunity we thought, no Fulham players near him. by the time he reached halfway into the Fulham half he had to stop, not one of our players was anywhere near him and he was forced to pass backwards. Austin should have put in a lung busting run to get in the box. Hughes is responsible for those decisions and it hurt to see Ranairi in their dugout as we could have had him. We have good players Lemina, Holberg, Yoshida, Gabbadini, Redmond, Armstrong, and McCarthy, were all better than their opposite numbers but if you don't have the other 4 players to support them you have a problem. That should be it for Hughes but I hope they have someone decent to replace him and not a stop gap. Great day out, I enjoyed the pub, the walk, and the sailing/rowing.Shame about the footie. Oh well bring on Utd.
  11. Holberg may have had an iffy game but remains one of the first on the teamsheet for me. I thought Yoshida and Gabbadini were really good today. They showed what we've been missing. Scandelous that a proven international defender has been benched. I'm gutted JWP's form has dipped. For a while last year it looked like he was going to cement a place. However now he simply doesn't seem to be at PL standard. I suspect its because he hasn't had a run of games, he needs a decent loan abroad at a good level to get some confidence back. I thought it was harsh on Stephens to be dropped. I'd have him over Cedric any day. Relegation isn't a cert plenty of time to resolve that but some players need to be rested. More than anything they need a win just to boost their confidence. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  12. Hes had a good game a bit more quality like that would help matters
  13. Very good ball from Bertie to start that move see they can do it when they try
  14. Doubt it will be a big hammering Saints aren't that bad at the back. Probably 2 or 3 nil to City. The issue is we couldn't score against a team of dustbins let alone City. Football is a funny game and any bookmaker offering 30 - 1 must have had a good Saturday. Even more ridiculous is Man City to win first half but draw second. That's 40 - 1 !! Saints just need to use the game to stretch the legs of a few squad players. Rest Bertie give Target a blow. JWP needs a game as does Yoshi. Play as high up the pitch as possible and press the hell out of them. Refresh with 3 pacy subs on 60 mins and see how we get on. Or play Gunn Vestergaard and Long up front and just lump it high and long at every opportunity. Be hilarious. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  15. Dusic I agree with most of your post but for me Davis was woeful and contributed very little to the game. In contrast I tbought JWP had a decent game. Lots of neat passes and as always his set pieces give us an extra dimension. He even put in a few tackles! Funny how we see games differently. Anyway a win is a win. Lets enjoy it for a few days Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  16. On my way to the game and be warned trains are as messed up as usual. Supposed to be back to normal by 6pm.... yeah right. Strange feeling tonight as supposed B team has more world cup internationals than the 'A' team. Good to see Stephens at right back but worried about Davis. Still as always COYS Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  17. That was poor but when you see the highlights Armstrong is certainly trying hard and he was furthest away when McGuire started his run. Schoolboy football from the other defenders after Cedric had lost it. Stephens needs to play there next game or go 3 at the back. I think most of us feel the same about PEH but trust me that was a dive of epic proportions and frankly he was lucky to stay on the pitch after 2 reckless challenges earlier in the game. His card was well and truly marked by the Ref before that dive. He deserved to go can't have any complaints about that. However that's football and at least he was in the box which was a rarity for our powder puff forwards. Hopefully Hughes will use Tuesday to try out Gunn, Yoshida, Gallagher, JWP, Gabbadini, and Targett. I've got a feeling that could be a stronger team.
  18. I don't care how many times Puel's teams beat Saints. His football is boring negative and insipid. Glad to see the back of him. 1st half was great, everybody was smiling we all knew a goal was coming. That doesm't excuse our lack of attacking verve but it just needed time. 2nd half Puel used his inside knowledge well. Cedric is too easily beaten in the air. Put Stephens there as he is way better as a full back than as centre half. The substitutions or lack of them killed Saints stone dead. Austin adds nothing he is not a Premier League player anymore. Ings was struggling so why not replace him with Armstrong. Change PEH for Romeo or preferably JWP imo and the game is then beyond Leicester.Beyond their defence they were very limited. Yes it would probably be a point rather than 3 but bet we'd all take that now. Manager needs to look at his performance. However Leicester are no mugs and their defence showed up our attacking limitations. Its a better side than last year (just) no alarm bells just yet but come on Mr Manager sort it out. 19. Frankly it's Cardiff probably Huddersfield and then perm one from about 10 teams. Saints will be in the mix almost certainly but my money is on Brighton. Could just as easy be Watford Palace and Fulham. Going to be a fun season. If you discount the top 6 and add Everton, Leicester and maybe Wolves. There are really only 20 games to target points from. There will be a few bonus points from the other matches but not many. How teams like Saints play against the other 9 contenders will be the decider. So no losing your xxxx when City thump us 4 0. Dark November afternoons against Watford and Fulham are what matter. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  20. I don't think i can take another final 10 minutes like that. See me end me. Tjat performance pure courage and fight. Its a rare day you see the Kingsland on its feet roaring. One turning point for me eas Mousset going off injured. He was a really dangerous player and was causing us major problems. Doubt Bournemouth will hold on to him next year. I hope he's ok to play against Swansea. Hope for the next game but still lots to do. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  21. Despite the calamitous last two games the team has played with a lot more fight. With 5 games to go we aren't down yet. But it is last chance saloon. A win on Thursday will massively boost our confidence. It will also put the ****s up Swansea the only other team in it now. Massive if mind. The other factor is that we have still to play Swansea so it remains in our hands. I felt better for writing that. Then I rembered hiw poor the team is. Win games we stay up ....simples Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  22. It won't just be a case of players wanting to leave the wage bill has to be slashed so big earners have to go. That is ironically one of the benifits of relegation. Its a given that Bertrand Romeu Lemina, Holberg Cedric Boufel, Gabbi, and Tadic will be sold. The club will have no choice. What a fire sale. Probably £150 million pounds worth of talent there, how on earth are we nearly relegated shameful. I suspect JWP will give it a season unless there is a big bid. Forster may come good for us. A season at a lower standard will give him a chance ro recover, McCarthy has not convinced me but way better than Forster PL model. I'd love to see Classie back, i've always rated him but guess he'll be sold. If Fulham are promoted that's Taggart gone. A real shame but he'll deserve it. Long is a loyal dog and would stay i suspect, but there will be bids from newly promoted teams. So where does that leave us. Hoedt's ego will want a move but he'll be made to stay. I bet Yoshida goes as his contract is up soon. Stephens will fight for his place. New 'big' CH LB and RB required then. Up front Austin Carillo (no buyers stuck with him) Gallagher and possibly Long will be good enough if supported. Midfield will need strengthening. Sims JWP Hesketh Reed Classie would be way too small. A couple of hard bitten pros with that lot could work. Certainly a much better position than last time and some cash to spend. Or they could pull their finger out and win a few games to survive. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  23. Funny things happen in football. Game in hand is crucial plus we play Swansea. That should be enough. Its still in our hands . However we look a defeated team. Sparky has a job to do. Get players in who are prepared to fighr. Davis yoshida mcqueen anyone prepared to fight to their last. Be such a shame to let our PL place go now. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  24. On the way home. I never leave early but that was struggle today. Gutless and completely embarrassing. Essentially the same as the newcastle game. Austin slow ponderous and hopelessly out of form and touch. Long should have started he cares. Cedric a major factor in this fiasco, useless as he has been all year. Lemina just needs to focus and pass quicker still a good player though. How does Tadic keep being selected, just unbelievable Jeff. Romeo has to play the defence rely on him. Sims JWP McCarthy and Yoshida would have brought more to that game and they care. Somehow we are still in the mix but with Arse and Chelsea coming up next that may not last. Nope no silver linings. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  25. Good grief Saints aren't hopeless. Pull yourself together man. They just aren't very good and our manager doesn't help but there are 8 other teams in the same boat. This has draw written all over it. I'm going, its a long journey but I'm looking forward to it. Leave Tadic on the bench. Play JWP and Holberg. We'll be fine. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
