  1. The British consumer. Bizarre that you somehow think that because a hard Brexit to WTO will push up costs, make cars more expensive in the UK and crash demand by 18% that is somehow a win for the UK. Still havent moved away from the shooting yourself in the head analogy on the basis that the ricochet might hit Germany.

Ironic that the Governments action on the virus was derailed by someone catching it. You'd have thought that would have been the first contingency to be factored in.
  3. Its perfectly normal (although wrong) for companies under financial pressure to conserve cash by stop paying suppliers invoices. Its probably just creditors emails they are ignoring, not customers or debtors.
  4. The Olympics were secured by Tony Blair and delivered by an arms length organisation Boris had almost zero to do with.
  5. Guy Verhofstadt made me smile
  6. There are some who want to dump Biden even at this late stage. No idea how likely or possible that is. https://nypost.com/2020/04/10/democrats-want-to-drop-joe-biden-for-andrew-cuomo-poll-finds/
  7. Michael Bloomberg is good (alrthough should have run 4 years ago, not now) and and New York state governor Cuomo.

That's true of everything though. Corona or no corona for every year you age your chances of dying increase.

Surely the important thing is social distancing, that is the primary thing which reduces new infections. As long as people stay 2m apart or more if someone wants to go to the park to sunbathe rather than exercise does it matter? Why is it worse to go out to open space in the New Forest than staying home in a tower block in Southampton sharing a lift with 15 other people?

Because they've forced to stay in high density cities rather than social distancing elsewhere?
  14. Nope. I've noticed you tend to react to whats in your mind rather than whats written. At various times in its history Christians (along with nearly all other religions) have advocated things like 'righteous' wars or killing of heretics and now they don't. There are fashions in beliefs. Things which if they were immutable facts handed down by God would not change. If you can pick and choose from the Holy book which bits you want to follow and which bits you want to ignore this week, its not really 'faith' is it?
  15. Priests are selective. They quote the bits which fit with the times. MLG is broadly correct, its just the way he conveys it that makes people react. And if you're being selective and views change over time its not really a religion is it? More of club pretending to be of a higher plane.

How did he do that? You think there was a lesser risk if he stayed shopping and exercising in high density London?

I've been surprised how comparatively little lockdown activity there has been on Saintsweb. Would have thought with so many people bored at home posting would have risen but reverse seems the case if anything.

Some people here seem to be under a misapprehension. The current isolation measures are simply to slow down the rate -they aren't intended to and wont eliminate it. Unless there is an improbable stroke of luck then most people will likely catch it in time, if not this year then next. Even if a vaccine is developed it probably wont be given universally.

Do you use gloves when you take you shoes off or go outside? What do you do with the gloves? Ever touch your face? What about postal deliveries? what about food you carry into the house, who has touched that? Got a cat or dog, where has that been? Family members, do you know they are following the same routine? This isnt like waiting for a bomb to go off and emerging when its all over.
  25. You'd think it would be mandatory to have a clear set of instructions about who takes over and when, just as there is with the Monarchy.
