Sure. There would be wider repercussions so I'm not saying its a good policy - but its also not true to say its 'magic money tree' stuff.

You're right. Giving up our voting rights in the EU is a massive surrender of sovereignty, and for what?
-
tbf they say the cost will be met from the profits. Given that the Government can borrow money at less than 1% and Centrica shares (British Gas) for example are paying a dividend of c6% they could buy it and make a profit on holding the shares.

Need a fresh one. The 800,000 year old ones aren't as fizzy, not much CO2 y'see.

Whereas gas, coal and oil powered turbines use massive amounts of energy in their construction and then continue to burn it inefficiently once ongrid. Even apart from the climate implications renewables makes economic sense for an energy importer like Britain because you cut imports and increase local employment. This is a relatively new field and some issues like transport fuel for aircraft and guaranteed continuity of supply remain to be resolved, but the argument about direction of travel is over.

What does your post EU, WTO UK look like Wes? Serious question of fundamentals. What would the hit to GDP be? How long would it take us to replicate the 28 FTAs the EU has and we benefit from? Do you think we would get the same terms negotiating as one state instead of 28. Would we really restrict overall migration or simply bring in from other sources? Would the nature of that immigration really be skills based (given its already easy to bring in specialist skills) or would it simply be replacing the Polish window cleaner with a Bangladeshi one? Genuinely I can see the disadvantages of leaving but dont believe the benefits would materialise.

A deal Tusk called Canada +++ was offered but what it would have contained was never defined because May didnt take it up. Still I guess you, as with Brexit, would have been happy to jump right in but whine when later the Brexit or Canada +++ you had been imagining wasnt the same as what other people were thinking.
-
How about 'winegum'? Better than a C+++ anyhow
-
As an economist from Kings wrote a while ago, putting +++ on the end of a mark is just a way of making the credulous feel better about a crappy score. Economically the C+++ of Canada - even if had been offered under the 'cake and eat it' option - would never be as good as the B score of the EEA or the A of being an EU member.

Outraged!! Turning from gammon to winegum

Being in the EU has always been a mixed bag. Now its obvious to all we aren't going to get the unicorn deal of all the good and none of the bad people are re-assessing and remain is getting a fresh wave of support.
-
Reality is that more Tory voters favour remain than either May's fudge or no deal.
-
Even if the confidence vote happens I think she'll win it. Yes its a turd and no-one likes it and yes May played a bad hand badly. But most mainstream Tory MPs - both leave and remain - are terrified of the ERG headbangers getting control of the party. They'll hold on to May until its sorted out and only then will she get the quiet word in the ear that its time to go - sometime in the new year.
-
Thats because she's been promising different things to different people in a bid to kick the can down the road in the hope that something will turn up. Now, with only 4 months to go, the road is about to run out.

It’s really not complicated. The time sensitive goods come through Dover. It doesn’t matter if cars or wheat are held up and have to spend 24 hours waiting dockside at Southampton .It really really matters if roll on roll off trucks spend 24 hours on the M20 in Kent whilst their fresh lettuce or strawberries rot and the car factories stop becauE their just in time parts are still waiting customs clearance.

Hain has potentially compromised any trial. If he really wanted Green dealt with he should have shut the *** up. There was no overwhelming public interest reason to out him right now
-
I know it looks toytown, but apparently they work well and last forever. Thats why most contract cleaners use them.

Exactly. Dyson wraps himself in the flag but the reality is that his products are made in Malaysia and Singapore. If you want a British made hoover go for Henry (Numatic)

but its been an administrative and legal nightmare for both sides, which is why the EU dont want to go down that route again.
