  1. Try that on the Stelvio Pass
  2. Do we not have border controls now then?
  3. Not really, you were going to vote out anyway. How many of the terrorists acts in the UK in the past 50 years have been carried out by people from the EU?
  4. Northern Ireland is a totally different situation to Salafism though. The IRA was about ending discrimination against Catholics and what they saw as colonialism in Ireland - ie you can have negotiations leading to slightly different political arrangements. Islamic fundamentalism seeks to impose a way of life totally incompatible with European culture and society. The way you tackle is to stop funding the creation of the extremist groups for our own political ends, stopping Saudi funding of extremist ideology madrassas and creating unstable chaos in places like Afghanistan, Libya and Iraq.
  5. Good find, I'd not seen that before. Agree much more effective.
  6. That was never going to happen because Republicans are a minority in NI and in any event at the time the Republic of Ireland didnt want them - NI needed far too much economic subsidy for Ireland to take on.
  7. Fair point. They used to blow the Belfast to Dublin railway line up regularly, so Im not sure why that wasnt done in London. I think probably because its not as effective as you think - most repairs can be carried out within 24 hours - unless you can bring down a bridge for example. It was the targetting of the City - bombs at the Stock Exchange, Baltic Exchange, Bishopsgate, Canary Wharf etc which brought about the Good Friday Agreement.
  8. It did get them what they wanted. When the troubles started there was domination of the Catholic minority and discrimination in housing, schools and employment. That discrimination has now ended and there is a power sharing government.
  9. Actually they didnt really go around blowing up people randomly. That largely stopped in the 1970s. Their attacks after that were on military, political and economic infrastructure targets.
  10. But you just did. Go on then. Name a poster here who thinks unrestricted Islamic immigration is a good thing.
  11. Of course. but the trouble is that most are in a club already. I wish the EU had stayed as it was in about 1990. Free movement of people and trade in a smaller group of countries with roughly the same level of economic development. I dont dispute that was better. For the life of me I genuinely cant see a viable option for the UK outside of the EU which doesnt entail a big hit on our wealth and employment. There is a reason every country in Europe is either in the EU; in a free access agreement with it or queuing up to join.
  12. Says the camp one from Right Said Fred
  13. Thats not the choice though is it? Rightly or wrongly the Common Market has gone. No the choice is being on our own in a globalised economy, or part of a 28 nation bloc.
  14. Thats true. For example you're a total arsehole, but I dont blame the rest of the English for it.
  15. sunshine
  16. Immigration from outside the EU is higher.
  17. Good interview with IDS. Ive never liked him before but he did seem to genuinely believe in the 'one nation' stuff. Obviously it helps that he was sticking the knife into Osborne, but sabotaging his chances of becoming PM will be good both for the country and the Conservatives.
  18. 'Fess up Wes. You also vote UKIP, you've said so before.
  19. Blocked now. The goals are here, terrible quality but still awesome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYNeoFViIoo
