  1. During the troubles even the IRA got fed up with hoaxes from people who wanted a day off work or their wife's lovers company shut down. How can you have a properly orchestrated terror campaign if everyone gets in on the act? Thats why the officially agreed code word system was brought in.
  2. Apparently New York got the same threat and concluded it was a hoax.
  3. We were saving energy for a big push in December.
  4. It might be a divisive issue, but its not divisive along party lines. I imagine the proportions of Labour and Tory voters for and against are pretty similar. The only way the expansion will damage the government is if they are seen to dither and fudge.
  5. Generous pension but no life insurance
  6. Maybe the career prospects are better.
  7. Thought Boris handled that quite well. Clearly didnt want to criticise police and it is a free country.
  8. I think you'll find its Jesus, or possibly Jebus.

  10. See my post above. Its not legal aid, its no win no fee lawyers http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/aug/18/nhs-sounds-compensation-alarm-after-120000-lawyer-bill-from-5000-claim
  11. But the problems arise not so much from the ant award made by the court - but the cost of fighting vexatious cases. Claimants who have no money, such as Adebolaje have literally nothing to lose by launching actions.
  12. I dont know how you can stop it. I used to work in the NHS where people would sue because the food was bad and in local government where wealthy people would challenge a council decisions to not let them build a McMansion in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Do you really take tens of thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands of taxpayers money away from frontline services in order to fund a court battle, or do you quietly pay some 'go away' money?

  16. Trump is a knob, a fleeting star who wont get elected. The much more worrying thing is that over 100,000 people are prepared to ban someone from Britain because they didnt like an American saying something about banning people from entering America. Whoosh doesnt seem adequate. Goodbye freedom of speech and freedom of movement in one easy kneejerk.
  17. Have you thought about a small generator as emergency backup? Would be a lot cheaper than a second car. This one is relatively quiet, the 'suitcase' Hondas more so, though pricier obviously. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wolf-2500W-240v-6-5HP-4-Stroke-Petrol-Generator-Portable-/252080215221
  18. Excellent post, a return to best form. So much more interesting than the Corbynista tosh.
  19. Ive never owned one so have no personal direct experiences, only indirect experience through work. The only thing I would say is think about how you would use the car and relate that to charging points - ie how many miles a day do you do. How often do you need to travel more than the cars range? Bear in mind the quoted range figures are like fuel economy figures, rarely achievable in real world driving. Some cars advertise an 80% charge in 30 minutes but that is using the most powerful DC charging points. There are at least four different power ratings for charging points and the basic ones will take 7-8 hours. Checkout what spec recharging points exist in the areas you are likely to travel to, especially motorway service stations. You can buy home charging units which will reduce home charging times by around half but cost about £1,000.
