  1. I think thats right. They may well vote to stay with devo max but then find the English MPs vote to equalise public spending across the UK, leaving Scotland worse off than before and without sole use of North Sea oil to cushion the pain.
  2. You can probably bend the figures any way you want http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_Expenditure_and_Revenue_Scotland
  3. Why do opinion polls like ICM ask the question "Should Scotland be an independent country?" rather than "will you vote yes, no or not note vote on Monday?". It must make a small but important difference to the answers.
  4. It may come out of the NHS budget but public spending (including the NHS) is 21% higher in Scotland than England despite gdp per capita being lower. The Barnett formula needs to go. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnett_formula
  5. Scotlands biggest employers are supermarket chains, financial services, public services and call centres. They are disproportionately large because they service the whole of the UK. If they go independent companies will inevitably relocate to where most of their customers are - in England. In the short term Scotland would be fine, not much change, but 10 years down the line when the oil income has declined further and private, military and other gov department jobs have relocated south you can envisage big public services cuts and high unemployment. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/tesco-named-biggest-private-sector-2355660
  6. Bit of an English backlash against all the fawning and bending over backwards for the Scots. I can see UKIP reforming into the English Independence party and campaigning for an English parliament.
  7. Kingsland North is next to the noisiest Saints fans who are in the Northam stand . Its a good place to go for atmosphere without having to stand up all game.
  8. Nice moan about Sue, Tokes. Wit isnt dead
  9. Parkinson's disease isnt an appropriate subject for **** taking.
  10. This. Pistorius seems very emotionally volatile. I can well imagine him getting into a row with her and firing in rage through the door then regretting it. That is the most likely explanation but its not beyond all reasonable doubt.
  11. Sorry, posted up the wrong link! Stayed there but googled the wrong Petrognano. This is the one - much closer to Florence. http://www.petrognano.com/
  12. His goal against Botswana from about 1:35 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsmHmlkFOiE
  13. Can recommend staying here. Great wine and olives grown on the estate. http://www.fattoriadipetrognano.com/home_eng.html
  14. Very true. My dads family are from the broadly nationalist community in Belfast but whether they actually wanted to join with the Republic depended largely on how the UK and Irish economies were doing at the time. Jobs and income is what drives most people.
  15. Gemmnel has it pretty much spot on imo. The fact that you said "when I did the tests previously in another organisation I came back with an almost perfect profile for the work I do" should flag up the risks of arsing around. You dont want to come out as a perfect librarian if for example you're in a sales job. The other thing to be aware of is that many tests have questions designed to catch out people not answering truthfully or saying what they think the company want to hear. For example "have you ever stolen anything?" (everybody has at some point but some people still put 'no').
  16. They're really good cars. That around half of them are driven by utter bellends and 'lads' doesnt change that fact. Half the drivers are normal who appreciate they are excellent cars and drive them despite the image not because of it. I had a Subaru Outback estate (same basic shell and setup, just higher ride and less power) and it was great. Anyway image varies from country to country, Australia is probably different.
  17. Independent Scottish economics would be a car crash, at least in the short/ medium term. Under the Barnett formula they get 19% more public spending than England, even though their GDP per head is only 96% of Englands. Even if you count in all the oil and gas money they're looking at a budget deficit from day 1.
  18. I can see the Amsterdam ho's POV
  19. Im not that keen on WKD
  20. 20 years, thats persistence. Shower and pay more goaty. They'll give in eventually.
  21. That actually creates a plus - Swedes socialise a lot at home, often passing round hooch they distilled themselves and flavoured with sweets. Had a couple of great nights on parma violet vodka.
  22. Quite. The idea of a fighter using bullets to shoot down a plane is quaint. It hasnt been 1942 for quite a while.
  23. Stockholm. Built on islands so always a feeling of space and views over water. Summer on the archipelago.
