This one. I agree the period didnt reach the technical definition of a double dip recession (two successive quarters of decline as opposed to one quarter of contraction and one flat), but that doesn't there wasnt a double dip. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/06/27/uk-britain-economy-idUKBRE95Q0BB20130627

Thanks. Reminded me we had even less backup then.

Im talking more about the curious trait of not strengthening in the areas where we are weak but instead spending big money where we are already strong - and then making panic buys when the results are clear. Maya was added on Aug 30th in panic after a disastrous pre season and early games when it had been abundantly clear to everybody Fonte and Hooiveld backed up Aaron Martin wouldn't be enough in the PL. Boruc signed in similar circumstances in late September when it transpired having KD backed up by a lg2 rookie wasnt a great idea after all.

It depends what kind of game you enjoy. I know some people like very tactical defensive football, a lot of people don't. People like the Italians where attendances have dropped off a cliff since the late 1980s, stadia are less than half full. La Liga is in a similar situation. I'd rather watch end to end stuff than a chess game.

But he doesn't does he? Everyone knew last close season we needed 1 or two experienced goalies and 2 quality CBs. Instead we got Ramirez and Mayuka for £17m, a lg2 rookie for £2m and Forren as a £4m panic buy. We were lucky Boruc was a free agent after the horror show start wake up call, otherwise we'd have been stuffed.

True but they weren't playing with Wanyama (0.19 goals per game gpg), Schneiderlin (0.047 gpg), Cork (0.0 gpg) or even Banega (0.053 gpg) and Ramirez (0.2gpg). Thats roughly an average of 1 goal every 2 matches between all five of them. Should be a cracking goal fest huh?

4-5-1 is a defensive formation. That was the problem, not the solution.
-
Which is the tactical, slow build up possession football so popular in Italy especially, for 1-0 results. Not exactly the exciting attacking 'Southampton way' tm
-
Cortese seems obsessed with midfielders. Its like previous years when we already had a good midfield but were still signing new players when goalkeeping, defence and attack were all deperately light.

So not as high as four years ago then? right before the double dip

Lib Dems wave white flag over Trident replacement...

Basically the two options, given current spending plans, are: 1. A very big '**** off don't mess with us' stick and a home defence force (which means no more foreign adventures, no bad thing). 2. A decent sized armed forces capable of meaningful defence of Britain and overseas ops. Either are okay imo. Trying to do both on the budget of one is the only stupid option. -
You remember. The annoying smug **** you used to be before you worked things out a bit more and became more tongue in cheek.

Unlike that **** Bournemouth Saint. He was under rehearsed.

I know! I was so excited I had to put it on two threads.

Spudgun, sorry Cheekychops247 likes Chas and Dave.

But its still at a level where if they halved the price they'd get twice as many people. More important to have a great event than raising a negligible (in the scheme of things) few thousand pounds extra imo.

I accept wasteland was the wrong word. I've been to Russia a lot over the past 30 years and love many of the cities. Ekaterinburg is my favourite. The winters are too long, too cold and too bleak for me to want to live there though. I imagine that is even more true of an Argentinian.

Its just Glasgow's way of trolling. Its passes for having a good time for him and the friends requests are part of getting a reaction.

Looks like he might have done it finally, if you count a hermaphrodite starfish as a 'girl' -
