  1. Very clever move by TBH imo. AA is a slimeball with no ethics who knows where the bodies are buried. Who better to fight your corner?
  2. That thought has crossed my mind too. Not sure he would bankroll them all the way to the PL - but enough to get them into mid table championship and marketable as a PL club in the making, ots a definite option for him.
  3. Thats my whole point though. There is no standard for a human limb. The performance of each part of the human body varies enormously from individual to individual - its weight, its oxgen uptake/ size of blood vessels, the pain signals sent to the brain, the ratio of fast twitch to slow twitch muscle. What is good for marathon running is not good for 100m.
  4. There's a surprise. TBH was right and has played a good hand.
  5. Well done stupidest post on the thread by a long way. No doubt I can look forward to being able to use drugs to increase oxygen uptake since my lung capacity was never big enough to compete at top level. I consider myself disabled and demand the right to compete at the Olympics.
  6. Will you settle for one out of three
  7. I agree. Im not unhappy with this as a one off. I hope however that it hasnt opened Pandora's box. Prosthetics are only going to improve and in time will likely enable ordinary athletes to outperform the elite imo.
  8. What is the FL's date? I cant remember.
  9. Perhaps, but then they knew his personal best was well outside what would be needed to reach the final. Would they have been so welcoming if a medal was at stake?
  10. Yeah of course that would work, if they introduce pogo sticking as an Olympic event.
  11. That view is admirable, idealistic and unachievable imo Minty. What are you going to do - approve one standard set of prosthetic legs for everybody? or are you going to allow them to be tailored for each individual? tailored by the type of track? tailored by the race - longer springs for long distance events maybe? 'Normal' runners have one set of equipment - their bodies. You cant have runners whose heart and lungs only have to service a much smaller, lighter body (no legs) and can adjust their equipment to varying distances and conditions.
  12. Must admit I dont like it either. Haven't commented since it was launched thinking I would get used to it. I haven't - if anything its become even more annoying. Its got lots of new stupid filler noises, for example when loading a saintsplayer vid, presumably to 'sex them up'. Its doesnt - it just gets on my tits and makes me want to cancel.
  13. Ive no idea what they knew Alps - but I'd bet money it was an informed decsion taking all factors into account.
  14. On the money imo. I think you'd find it very har5d to argue with decsions made by the management of British cycling over the past few years. They have been supremely successful. The woman who didnt ride has been used as back up and at 37 she is no longer in her prime.
  15. He is only there because he is disabled, as a token gesture of inclusion. Where would you stop? with the no armed guy who uses a springloaded slingshot for the shot put? laser guided rifle for the blind guy? Billions of people worldwide dont have what it takes to compete in the Olympics 100m. Pistorius is no different.
  16. I trained like **** to be better than Hampshire juniors standard but I just didnt have the tidal lung volume. I deserve another chance.
  17. That is a 'kin stupid policy though. Poundland will just employ fewer paid workers if they can get staff for free - and that helps unemployment how?
  18. Not as much as I'd have liked to. I made the mistake of going with a girlfriend.
  19. Paul Smith is a proper quality label. Made in Britain mostly using European fabrics. None of this pretending to be European, niche and upmarket to justify a high price whilst actually making cheap stuff in Asian factory out of synthetic materials.
  20. Surely you aren't trying to conflate the separate issues of whats legal; whats provable and whats right as an excuse?
  21. Because its about a level playing field for the athletes. Its no different to why Pistorius shouldn't be allowed to compete with his spring legs. Imagine if someone invents a technology which blows away all competition and its protected by patent for 50 years. It would destroy the competitions as meaningful events.
  22. Whatever you do dont fly to Italy. Thats just where the casual brand stories are set. You need to fly to an industrial sweatshop in South East Asia to get the actual clothes.
  23. On my Volvo the plipper both locks / unlocks the doors and sets /switches off the alarm. The key only unlocks the doors - so if your missus has set the alarm by locking the doors with the plipper and then you later open itb with the key then the alarm will go off until you turn the ignition. AFAIK you'll have to either get another plipper, or get her to only use the key. No idea about the humming.
  24. Kitty van Male
  25. I'm sure we're both doing what we can to brighten up days at work....
