  1. One of the parts of the recruitment process seems to be getting players in for a couple of days to see if he fits with the rest of the team personality and temperament wise. Maybe Buttner bombed this part and the 'dad' cut was the final nail.
  2. Maybe, but I would have thought that would affect the detection rate more than the number of actual killings. Most seemingly arent planned and are in the heat of the moment.
  3. I blame the benefits culture. Nobody wants to do the dirty jobs any more.
  4. Deaths in police custody seems to average about 60 per year. tbh Im surprised its not more when you compare that to the 1.3 million people arrested each year. People do die suddenly and unxepectedly, especially those who are off their face on various chemicals or have pre existing medical conditions.
  5. Aren't most full backs relatively small / normal sized? Its only centre backs who tend to be 6ft plus.
  6. Not really. If Etoile were really being diddled they wouldnt have agreed to the friendly this week. http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2011/08/05/2606827/tunisias-ammar-jemal-pulls-out-of-southampton-move
  7. What? when English law, like medicine and religion was written in Latin you mean? Gold star Dune.
  8. Thats probably because homocide is the catch all term here, not a specific chargeable offence. In the US its homocide 1 (murder) or homocide 2 (manslaughter) so you hear it on tv dramas much more.
  9. Blah blah. Its an early English term, from long before US was even discovered.
  10. About 1600 at least. Homocide is killing another person. That is broken down into all kinds of categories of which murder and manslaughter are most common, but others like infanticide and assisted suicide also exist.
  11. Maybe he didn't sign until he got to Evian.
  12. Quite. Maybe at 18 all you want to do is prove yourself. As a professional football player at 32 with retirement in view Butterfield will likely be thinking "pay off mortgage and top up pension" not "leave home, go to Darlington and get kicked"
  13. Its the main reason Ive never goosed MLG.
  14. She'd need to with a bag over her head....
  15. I'd still rather sleep with her than Frankie Boyle....
  16. I get that and enjoy a merciless taking apart of ego driven politicans and pop stars as much as anyone. - especially when it exposes hypocrisy or vacuous PR platitudes. Saying an athlete is ugly - hardly rapier wit or fair game is it ?
  17. Could be. But with less clear gender roles potentially there is more scope for conflict not less. Fights just seemed to be a more accepted way of sorting things out in the 1970s when I was growing up. They make the papers now.
  18. Its a good deal for him. Sign on for three years at £30,000pw and £1m joining fee, knowing he will never get paid by Pompey. Wait a month with no money, declare breach of contract and walk away at 14 days notice. Claim money owed through PFA and parachute payments
  19. "The number of murders and killings in England and Wales has fallen to the lowest level in nearly 30 years, Office for National Statistics figures show. Police recorded 550 homicides in 2011-12, 88 fewer than the previous year and the lowest number since 1983". According to the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18900384 Crime, especially crimes of violence have been falling not just in the UK but in Europe, North America and Asia. Any ideas about why that is, given that the economic and social conditions of the countries are different? Given that most killings are domestic, people killing family members how come you get a trend like that across the developed world? Maybe modern urban life is making us all more passive and compliant.
  20. I know its the muppet show so dont expect anyone to agree with me - but I think its a bit sad that someone who is an athlete and never sought to be famous gets mocked on national tv for being ugly.
  21. I like those red & white striped shirts, black shorts and white socks with red stripes in the clip. We should think about something like that
  22. Really cant see why we would want another forward.....
  23. I agree he needed to cut intitally to regain confidence of the markets. The worst problem for the UK economy now though is loss of confidence by consumers and company's thinking about making investments. People deferring spending they can afford but aren't making because they are scared for the future is holding the economy back more than budget cuts. Its time to be telling people that now is a good time to invest and spend, not that we are so screwed that austerity will need to last till 2020.
  24. tbf he would have been better off throwing the first plan away.
  25. Thats an average of almost 10-1 against Saints getting a result (win or draw). Damn good odds for the first game of the season.
