You love to lap up spin eh? He was in the TA SAS for less than a year.

You cant do it without causing massive defaults on loans, which will bring down the banks again. Yes a return to the peseta and drachma would result in a much lower exchange rate which would help Spain and Greece et al compete - but it would also mean the repayments on their euro denominated loans would rocket and they would default. The only way out of this is some miraculous growth spurt, and there is no sign of that happening.

Agree. Can only see Chanrai getting control of FP, lumping it in the Gaydamak land (what a total coincidence the admin of his company have suggested this just a couple of days ago) and having a nice big building site that doesnt include a football stadium.

David Davis would be a good call. I doubt he would get elected as leader of the party though, for the same reasons they rejected the man the country wanted - Ken Clarke - and went successively for the unelectable but ideologically pure William Hague, Ian Duncan Smith and Michael Howard. The headbangers are in control and One Nation Toryism is nowhere atm.

Those 50 year extrapolations are always ridiculous. I dont know why organisations publish them. Whether or not we balance the budget, and how soon, will depend more on returning to growth rather than further budget cuts.

Is that it? The pinnacle of a billion years of evolution leading to the ability to fly hundreds of light years to another civilisation is so that you can rip them a new one? (and maybe have some lager on the way)

Do you work in graphic design?

I suspect Saints fans put in about the same amount of effort as other teams, no more no less. Fans of different clubs arent different sub-species. There is only one PL club with 1.5 hours travel of Southampton. If you are in the North, Midlands or London its probably 7 or 8.

There is a good Guardian article about it here (no not an oxymoron). http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/greenslade/2011/dec/06/dailymail-oswald-mosley. My personal objection to the Mail is not the 1930s but the way they deliberately slant reporting of the 'news' to fit an agenda. They arent unique in that, all papers do it to a degree but imo the Mail is the worst.

Good plan. Obesity is Britains leading growth industry. We could pay off the national debt.

Of course it is. All a nasty left wing beaureacratic conspiracy. Nothing to do with huge healthcare costs and early deaths associated with diet induced disease. http://www.nhs.uk/news/2012/04april/Pages/nhs-diabetes-costs-cases-rising.aspx http://www.nhs.uk/news/2011/08August/Pages/half-of-uk-predicted-to-be-obese-by-2030.aspx

I was involved in this tangentially in 2003-2005. Think tank IPPR were pushing the supermakets, backed by DEFRA, to voluntarily introduce an industry wide food labelling and sourcing scheme. Sainsbury's, M&S, Waitrose and the Co-op enthisuastically backed it. Tescos and ASDA were obstructive but came to the meetings. Morrisons would have nothing to do with it. A lot of very good progress was made on a scheme which would have been universal, simple and consistent - a major major step forward from the currently deliberately confusing mish mash of labels. In the end somebody, allegedly Tony Blair under pressure from the British Retail Consortium, told DEFRA to back away from the threat to legislate if a voluntary scheme wasnt forthcoming. As soon as they did that Tescos and ASDA walked away from negotiations and deliberately torpedoed the process. As a country we need to do something. Diabetes rates are exploding as a result of obesity and excess sugar (especially High Fructose Corn Syrup) in processed food.

I wouldnt fine them - community sentence or prison depending on severity. There is a legal mechanism for seizing proceeds of crime though.
-
Hes playing into their hands by not turning up, potentially giving them grounds to terminate his contract. His legal challenge is interesting though.
-
We should have a fine system based on income. Fining two people £2,500 - one on £250pw and one on £120,000pw is in no way the same deterrence.

Black babies pluck their eyebrows too.

Not only important, but contentious apparently. I'll rephrase to keep the peace. "Ex fattie, aging Chris Moyles, has quit Radio 1 teen and 20s show".

And all Saints live within 10 mins of Southampton Central? Dumb retort. It takes longer to get from Southampton to up North by train or car than it does from London, its just reality.
-
Because from London its three hours on a direct train to Newcastle, for example, whereas from Southampton its 5.5 hours and a two changes.

An oxymoron of rare quality.

Concrete offer of a job - ie paid? or concrete offer of work for free and then review? Commuting is undeniably ****, especially if you need to travel at peak times or need to change trains / get on the tube once you arrive in London. Use it as a means to an end of gaining experience and paying off debts with one eye on what you want next and its fine for a while - especially with a coffee, seat and paper / device. I did it for two separate periods totalling five years - which worked me into a position I am now - based at home and totally flexible days.

Brentford away. Dire game, freezing cold. Sat the entire game with my feet in a deep puddle in the upper tier of the stand. Were leading 1-0 then threw it away. Good pub on the river nearby though.
