Taking my 8 year old son to his second game and 7 year old daughter to her first. He's dead keen, she's asking if maybe she can go and see Grandma instead.

Saints fan spared jail for assaulting rival fans in bar

Ditto. No-one received any injuries, he pleaded guilty at first opportunity has ruled out seeking election and will be suspended by the House of Commons for a period yet to be determined. I actually really liked his open and honest interview on that Telegraph site. He didnt try and hide away or wriggle out of anything. He messed up bigtime and has held his hands up to it. Could use more of that kind of honesty in parliament imo. As it happens my ex got a very similar sentence for the same kinds of offences involving me and the neighbours (except she wasnt drunk) so the 'one rule for them' stuff is junk. -
Thats a late youth crisis - "**** I haven't got it together yet, everyone else is so sorted, I need to find a direction but I dont know what". That comes before the "****, I shouldn't have rushed into doing that and now Im stuck forever and my life is going down the toilet" midlife crisis.

I had one of these for a while. A lot of fun and much better than you'd expect. For the money you want to spend a Fiat will be a much better proposition than a tired Toyota or Land Rover imo. http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/cartestreports/2005013.html Edit. I just checked on autotrader and they are waaaay more expnesive than I thought they would be by now. Try this instead http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201210454746459/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/2000/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/make/suzuki/page/1/keywords/4x4/postcode/bn68qb/radius/1500?logcode=p

tbf, I thought it was but have just checked the Economist's democracy index and they have Iran down at 159 out of 202 countries and listed as an 'authoritarian regime'. My mistake (if the economist is accurate). Interestingly Iran stills come in higher than Saudi Arabia (161) but beneath Zimbabwe.... The top four democratic regimes are all Scandinavian. The UK is 18th.

Not really. Its just a pretty divided country with the religious nutters lording it over the more secular middle class. Still the majority's choice (for the moment) though.

Its the most popular thread for weeks, 250 different contributors, and I for one have enjoyed reading it.

Countries like Saudi Arabia are a breeding ground for extremists because the absolute monarchy is so backward and governs for itself, not the people. The west is happy to ignore the gross absence of fair government in SA because it is stable and friendly to the west - and by contrast threatens to invade democracies like Iran because is isnt friendly.

Crossed the border into Singapore last week with an American who was carrying illegal contraband, chewing gum. You cant bring chewing gum into Singapore.

A few years ago I used to drive an old Triumph Vitesse which had old style chrome 'bullet' wing mirrors. They were like a magnet for every meathead in a 20 mile radius. They got smashed (not stolen) five times in 10 months, with modern cars either side untouched. Could never understand why people can be so mindless they have to destroy anything that is different.

Odd how someone who got a team promoted from lg1 to top of the championship for most of the season hasnt won any of the 7 awards so far this season.

'As Good as It Gets'. Funny, dry and you end up feeling better about yourself because you arent the Jack Nicholson character... 'Fargo' is a great film, not what you'd call uplifting though.

This isnt a defence, but it is an observation. Public services are much more complicated than most private businesses. Businesses tend to have much narrower focusses. Some are airlines, some are airport operators, some are hotels, some are restaurants, some are logistics companies, tyre suppliers, plant operators etc etc. The private business has one area of expertise and a standard business delivery model which they stick too. Tescos dont decide to operate stores in Afghanistan at short notice, UPS dont have to deliver to countries where they have no infrastructure. Generally businesses have a fixed model they work to. Public service has to create a new model each time because each patient, war and school child is different.

I dont want them gone. In Lg1, Fratton bulldozed and ground sharing somewhere ****e would do me fine.

You can slice it and dice it so many ways. Could argue we only conceded when SDR and Sharp came on.

Based on a radio commentary. Bravo.

Huh? The current Republicans candidates are all but unelectable. Unless they ditch Romney and find someone good Obama will be back for a second term.
