He thinks they should publish a 2,000 page synopsis of the research showing it’s safe. Trouble is the people who believe one sentence claims about vaccines and cancer / autism etc aren’t the same as the ones who are driven by esoteric research you need a lifetime to understand fully
  2. He actually looks less batshit crazy like that. Could have won him Georgia...
  3. Haha. He's not junior admin. He is the national freaking head, he is supposed to be leading by example. Everybody is entitled to expect a full skill set from somebody in that position. 23 yr old Marcus Rashford who went to a sink school has demonstrated far more effectively how you bring about change without alienating people.
  4. His language was clumsy and outdated. There are ways to say things without pissing off your members, players. MPs and millions of the general public. That's why he had to go. He is a nationally important position and paid large sums and he cant talk about football without causing upset. Even if you forget about what he said he is culpable for not foreseeing the reaction.
  5. But his job is to have more sections of society play the game and not feel 'it isn't for them'. Yes of course he is up against all kinds of history, cultural attitudes, what is seen as cool for boys is not for girls etc but you cant just shrug your shoulders and and say thats the way it is - otherwise what is he being paid for? Culture and perceptions change over time and in different locations. Lacrosse is seen as a macho rough game in the States, here in the UK its seen as a prissy posh girls school game. Ditto rounders is for kids, baseball is for men. Netball is girly, basketball is macho. You cant have the head of those sports in either US or UK go out saying their sport only appeals to kids / rich girls / macho guys "what can I do guv? " If thats the way you feel, do a different job.
  6. Unelected British bureaucrat sacked by prime minister's girlfriend - we got our democracy back!
  7. Exactly. Clarke's job was to promote football and get more people into the game. If you're going to simply use language of 50 years ago and think things cant be changed because Asians are hard wired to be IT geeks or girls don't like mud then he shouldnt be in the job.
  8. I think she realised the macho but incompetent boys club was destroying hubbies future. She stepped in to save him - and she certainly seems to be able to read the mood better than he does.
  9. I know that's tongue in cheek but its looking as though she really does wield huge influence. I used to work for a marine conservation organisation who were very adept at finding ways to manipulate politicians into doing what they wanted on ocean conservation. They recruited Carrie last year as a consultant. Today's other less noticed piece of news was the creation of a massive marine protected area around Tristan da Cuhna, one of the largest in the world. Two big results in one day for Carrie... https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/nov/13/tiny-atlantic-island-takes-giant-leap-towards-protecting-worlds-oceans
  10. Cummings has gone. Is it Christmas already?? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2020/11/13/boris-johnson-dominic-cummings-carrie-symonds-brexit-latest/ The tosspot couldn't leave quietly. Had to be photographed going through the front doors carrying a box. The fact Johnson didnt direct him to slip away through the back door for the sake of team morale and media management speaks volumes.
  11. God yes. Plus the cat and dog drinking tea. People say it works because I remember the brand - Tetley's - but it just makes me swear to never ever buy it.
  12. I wonder if one or more electoral colleges will be tempted to vote the way they want rather than the way the voters wanted, using the pretext of the 'fraud'

Two separate cases in my daughters year 11. Carried in as normal
  14. One of my prize possessions is a photo of my dad on the foredeck of a merchant ship in convoy on the way to Murmansk in Russia. He is stood there in a donkey jacket hacking the foot thick ice off the superstructure to stop the ship capsizing - a more certain death even than being torpedoed. He was 15 years old.

Seems like PHE might be starting to get on top of track and trace. Two cases in my daughters year at school but apparently unconnected so school stays open.
  17. Its central claim involves “overvotes,” which happen when voters mark more options than allowed in a particular race. Because stray markings and other irregularities can cause Maricopa County tabulation machines to perceive an overvote, the tabulators are programmed to alert voters when that happens. A voter then has two choices: “Spoil” the ballot and request a replacement, or cast the original ballot with the warning that overvotes may not be counted. In a preliminary hearing held Monday, Roopali Desai, an attorney representing the Secretary of State’s Office, described the lawsuit as “an effort to find a problem when one does not exist.” She noted the Republican Party had set up a website to solicit affidavits from voters or poll workers — undermining, she said, “the entire process and the very hard work of the many many people who are administering the election … and the voters themselves” — and argued the relief sought by the Trump campaign may not be possible under state law. Thomas Liddy, representing Maricopa County, said the plaintiffs had offered “very little evidence” to support the idea of a systematic problem. Noting the lawsuit's claim that thousands of Trump votes could go uncounted, he countered: “Under that theory, you’d also see thousands of votes for the Democratic candidate” going uncounted. “There were 155,860 votes voted in person on Election Day (in Maricopa County),” Liddy continued. “Of those, the tabulator only identified 180 potential overvotes on the presidential line … 180, that’s it.” https://eu.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2020/11/09/arizona-election-results-maricopa-county-challenge-involves-180-ballots/6229767002/
  18. I do get what goes on in your head - 'I love Trump. People who don't like Trump are lefties. Lefties love Corbyn. Biden doesn't like Corbyn. I win'. Trouble with that is. Almost every poster here who doesn't like Trump also thought Corbyn was useless. So I guess you aren't uniquely smart after all.

They measure two different things. Thick but conscientious is very different to clever but bored. I was more like Whelk.
  20. I think we all know the answer to that, except perhaps the man himself...
  21. He pretty much copied it word for word from a guest column in the Telegraph
  22. West Virginia though. It's like going up the Orinoco with a spear 😁.

I think the discovery was actually made by some small start up. Pfizers involvement seems to be providing mass manufacture.

Haha. You've turned into a proper fully fledged bitter old git who's time has passed. Pity because you aren't stupid
