  1. I tend to look at it this way... How much does it cost the cinema company to show one film? How much does it cost for a premier league club to host a game of football? The best comparison to me is not the face value of tickets for different forms of entertain but instead to compare the 'mark up' each is making on the tickets. Ok, I know the come back on that one will be that Saints are able to offset most of their costs from the TV money but looking at it purely from the 'cost per game' angle you may well find that the cinema makes more profit per screening than Saints do per game. I could be completely wide of the mark and missing the point but there's a reason one form of entertainment costs more than others.
  2. Hartson is right when he says that Saints are a step down in terms of the "size" of the club but he doesn't seem to be able to deduce or rationalise why one of the "big" clubs didn't come in for him. Maybe, John, that's because they don't think he's as good as you do and that a smaller club like Southampton is actually a better match for developing his talents at this moment in time. Just a hunch... Edit: ...and if Wanyama is as good as Hartson says he is then surely he'll help turn Southampton from a "bottom 6" side into a team competing in the top half. You can't have it both ways John me ok' mucka....
  3. No. My (and i assume St Marco's) thoughts aren't evidence based. It's simply a hunch that he has backed down. Could be right, could be wrong. Who knows.
  4. Not bad! For a "defensive midfielder" he seems to spend quite a lot of time in the opposition's half (going by that video)
  5. Correct. Just reading between the lines.
  6. Cheers. Best guess on what time of day this will be announced by the club tomorrow?
  7. "The Chairman looks to have won his battle with the agents" That's the most important aspect of this drawn out signing to me. Hopefully it paves the way for other chairmen to follow suit.
  8. You're also mistaking me for someone who has thought this through....
  9. Now on Saints Player.... I think the gaffer tape look could catch on.... http://www.player.saintsfc.co.uk/latest-news/article/3234126/date/20130710161700/page/0/name/Highlights:-Sholing-1-4-Saints-U21s

  12. Quick. Everyone take their positions on the bridges over the M3.... cameras and earlobe charts at the ready....
  13. Whilst I'm obviously happy that Wanyama is on the cusp of signing I still don;t see this as the one signing that will turn the heads of the rest of the premier league. This is more of an eyebrow raiser IMO. Someone like Damiao, Osvaldo or Banega would be a head turner...
  14. 'fraid not... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?44154-Summer-2013-HCDAJFU-Transfer-thread&p=1731665&highlight=osvaldo#post1731665
  15. You'd be mistaking me for someone acting rationally. If someone killed one of my kids and got let out of prison I wouldn't be thinking or acting rationally.
  16. Yep. Sounds like a reasonable exchange for killing someone to me. If someone killed one of my children they would be much safer inside prison than outside... Just a different opinion of course.
  17. People are convicted by their peers, not politicians. We should give the decision on release to those same peers. IMO.
  18. See above. Don't ever let them out of their cells.
  19. If they are locked up and the key thrown away then it doesn't matter how violent or psychopathic they become. As long as there's somewhere in their cell to urinate and defecate, and there's a small slot in the wall to pass them bread and water, they won't affect anyone else.

  21. Next to turn us down or next to sign?
  22. I'm in the 'Gaston will come good' opinion camp, but that doesn't rule out the possibility that he'll have a 'below expectations' season. I don't think holding the opinion that he might not turn out as good as we all hope he does is "lunacy". I think Alpine is more likely to be proved wrong than right. If Alpine starts forecasting snowfall in Southampton today then I might be moved to label him a crackpot
  23. Agree with all that. I just don't feel the need to "ridicule" someone else's opinion just because its the opposite of mine (Pompey fans excepted of course!) Anyway, we digress...
