  1. *cough* I do *cough* I think you've ever so slightly exagerated my intelligence and personality though. A slab of concrete is far more attractive than me, mentally and physically. Good that you've read each one from cover to cover though, just so that you can speak from personal experience.... ;-)
  2. Is it too late for the referee to do what the ref did in the Charlton game? i.e. dis-allow the goal; consult linesman; allow the goal; consult 4th official; dis-allow the goal. You gotta love the referees in this division
  3. This week's installment of "Mountains out of molehills".... http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2011/feb/02/top-gear-viewer-sues-bbc "A Mexican who saw the BBC's Top Gear programme on Sunday, in which her compatriots were described as "lazy, feckless, flatulent [and] overweight", has instructed lawyers to bring a test case against the show under a new equality law. Lawyers for Iris de la Torre, a 30-year-old jewellery design student in London, accused the BBC of using racism to boost ratings and said the case could cost the corporation up to £1m in damages. They demanded an investigation by the BBC and suspension of the show. The BBC has already received an official complaint from the Mexican ambassador, who demanded an apology for the broadcast's "xenophobic" and "offensive" content."
  4. I was just about to venture that very scenario.... :-)
  5. When I click on 'videos' it takes me to an 'upgrade' screen - £4.99 per season for highlights and other 'bits and bobs'.
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12287880 "Some patients are getting so fat that ambulance bosses are having to revamp their fleets to cope, the BBC has learned. Every service in the UK has started buying specialist equipment, data from freedom of information requests show. This includes wider stretchers, more lifting gear and reinforcing existing vehicles. Many have also bought specialist "bariatric" ambulances - costing up to £90,000 each - to ferry the most obese. These are designed so that double-width trolley stretchers for patients up to 50 stone (318kg) can be accommodated. They also tend to include hoists and inflatable lifting cushions."
  7. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12355022 "Broadcasters cannot stop customers using cheaper foreign satellite TV equipment to watch Premier League football, an EU legal adviser has said. A non-binding opinion from advocate Juliane Kokott of the European Court of Justice said a block breached EU laws. Portsmouth pub landlady Karen Murphy, fined for using Greek decoders, had argued the EU single market should let her use any European provider. Sky has the exclusive broadcast rights for Premier League football in the UK. The satellite broadcaster has pumped billions into top flight English football since the league was founded in 1992, with the money given to clubs allowing them to buy some of the top names in the world."
  8. Just checked - it's £4.99 to upgrade. Is that a one-off cost? Good value if it is.
  9. Is it free on the iPhone app? I've got the official 'Saints/Football League" app but don't think I get video highlights without paying extra?

  11. "Supporters' chief".....well, that should keep the thread going for another few pages.... ;-)
  12. Have just watched their goal for the first time and was just about to post the same. There's every chance Fonte would have cleared that off the line if he hadn't been impeded. If that had happened the other way around it would have been a nailed on penalty.
  13. bbc_matt Matt Slater So Milan M sacks his 14th manager in English footie, week after giving Irvine 'vote of confidence', anybody surprised? #swfc http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/9385962.stm
  14. Do you do sperm donations? It's just that I would like to have your babies. Post of the decade IMHO.
  15. My gut feeling is pretty much the same as yours TBH. The 'in a nutshell' statement being "it makes no flaming sense"....
  16. This. 110%
  17. The vast majority of 'open to the public' forestry land in this country is already owned and maintained by non-government organisations....
  18. Some would say that HMRC didn't come up short. Some would say the goalposts were moved...
  19. p.s. yes, I know it can be downloaded from the iPlayer itself but that only allows you to play it for 7 days - I want to be able to keep it 'forever'...cheers
  20. Anyone got any 'best of breed' solutions for saving iPlayer broadcasts to one's PC?
  21. Seems a reasonable hypothesis.
  22. Do you mean "Saints Aid"? I know a lot of people that gave up a huge amount of their time to help the cause on that day, and in the days and weeks leading up to it. I've no idea where the money ended up but a helluva lot of effort was put in by the organisers and participants, I know that much.
  23. Yes, I've already agreed with that part....
