Just back from the game. First things first.....Brentford were VERY poor. We dominated the first half - never seen us look so comfortable. Connolly once again showed he is a class act in this league. My MOTM. A bit of a different kettle of fish in the second half. We seemed to have settled for the 2 goal vicotry from the re-start which gradually let Brentford back into the game. Had their penealty gone in I'd have put my house on them scoring an equaliser. That said, we were still the best team in the second half. Lallana showing his usual flashes of brilliance and Chaplow never stopped running, chasing and snuffing out their midfield all day long. Very impressed with his work rate. Jaidi had a game of two halves - a rock in the first and bordering on a liability in the second.....I lost count of the number of his sliced clearances in the second half. But, overall, every player had a good game - Fonte and Hammond very solid. Guly showing touches of class. Lambert winning, holding up and laying off the ball very effectively as usual. All in all a very good day at the office.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. No, I was saying that he was advocating that FPTP is 'better' than true PR because under FPTP you have to amass a sizeable number of votes before you can be represented in parliament. I'm not saying that PR is inherently wrong. It is technically the 'most fair' system. I'm simple highlighting that some people believe true PR can lead to extremists getting more of a say in the running of the country. Which, again, depending on opinion is either a good or bad thing...

That may happen but the truth is we won't know for sure how true PR will affect the likes of the BNP's share of the vote. Some might say why run the risk of finding out one way or the other when it can be ruled out by not changing?

That hypothesis doesn't really need 'grasping' though. The Tory leader is chosen by the members in a FPTP election. All the MPs do is whittle the candidates down to the final two. A means to an end if you will. Davies and Cameron made the shortlist and then Cameron won the actual vote. It didn't matter who came first or second...a bit like us and Brighton you might say... ;-) Simple as that.

No, I'm not ignoring any of Fonte's credentials. He's a superb player and is within a hair's breadth of getting my vote. I just happen to think Lallana edges it. By choosing one player i'm not denying the quality of another. That is all.

Indeed. I can't see Brighton being that fussed about reaching an arbitrary number of points now that they've won the title.

I don't look at it from the 'number of games' played perspective. I look at the players' overall impact on our performances over the course of the season. By comparison, if Lallana came on for the last half hour of a game and scored a hattrick to secure a 3-0 win for Saints, who would get man-of-the-match? Fonte for helping to keep a clean sheet for 90 mins or Lallana for engineering the 3-0 victory? Lallana every time for me.
