Why is there a general consensus that "must win" games can only gain that heralded status towards the end of a campaign? If one takes the season as a whole then there are probably around 15 "must win" games in total. I say we should try and win some of these "must win" games earlier in the season....starting with Charlton on Saturday.... IMHO of course

Could well be the case, but, like I say, if the role is 'important' (which one has to assume that Cortese believes it is) then waiting a year to 'get the right man' would seem to negate (somewhat) the 'importance' factor? But there again, what do I know? I've never run a football club before....

Totally agree. I was just questioning 'poster X' who suggested 'poster Y' didn't know what he was talking about. 'Poster Y' may well have been correct in suggesting that "Pardew probably wasn't their first choice". Just an observation. That's all.
