  1. FFFS....beaten to the witty quip yet again!
  2. Doesn't he usually have his phone switched off over the summer?
  3. :smt039 Bye bye takeover threads....it's been nice knowing you since April 2007
  4. Here, here...and, as Jonathon Ross would say,....welcome back to the ranks Farmer
  5. p.s. it's a white cross BTW
  6. 98 days....keep up

  8. Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney said: "I would like to congratulate all those associated with the club that have helped to secure Southampton’s future. "I would especially like to thank Saints' supporters for rallying to the club’s cause during one of the most difficult periods in its history." No, thank you Mr Mawhinny for all your help over the last 3 months, especially the transparent and unambiguous communications.... FFS...
  9. Hmmmm....sounds rather like we may qualify....perhaps we shouldn't do too well this coming season then....?!
  10. Liebherr is the proud owner of a business that never went into administration. Does this mean that the Football League cannot/will not pursue him for a CVA? In other words, is this the end of the Administration saga as far as the club and the Football League are concerned and, as such, is there there now no chance whatsoever of further points penalties?
  11. Liebherr didn't buy a company that was in Administration so it's no concern of his or the club's....surely...?
  12. Is that 'billion' on the short or long scale? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billion
  13. Walk away to where? An obscure Egyptian team? How many other clubs were headhunting him? Apologies if this sounds like a personal witch hunt....it's just that the phrase "he conducted himself well" is starting to annoy me just a tad...
  14. Ok....let's try coming from a more philosophical angle.... For all those saying "Give Wotte (another) chance"....if Wotte had never been at the club and a shortlist of potential new managers was being drawn up by our new owner and Mr Wotte was one of the names on that list...how many of you would be chosing Wotte as your first choice (assuming the 'usual suspects' would be on the aforementioned shortlist) I would venture the number of people pinpointing Mr Wotte on a 'list of new managers' would be a tad less than the number of people saying "give him (another) chance". At the end of the day, Wotte will never be a 'unity' candidate and it's unity that I trust the manager will be looking to achieve in his mission to re-engage the fan base and local community. IMHO of course
  15. Which is exactly how I would have reacted if I wanted to keep my job options as open as possible. Going into a strop on the 2nd April was hardly going to improve his prospects of getting a job for next season, whether at Saints or elsewhere. Was it?
  16. Not forgetting the first half of the season where he was part of a "revolutionary management duo" (not my words but the club's at the time)
  17. It's a natural human reaction to give people the benefit of the doubt during the euphoria of a good news situation. People need to detach themselves from the sentimentality of the moment and rationalise who would be the best manager for Saints going forward. IMHO of course
  18. But, as you allude to at the start of your second paragraph Duncan, SFC is ultimately answerable to the fans. I'm sure a private owner would listen to the fans if they didn't turn up to sample their wares. Arguably, perhaps even more so now it is a privately run business.
  19. That's only 3.6% of his reported personal wealth though....I spend more than that (percentage wise) on beer.
  20. Remind me, how long has Wotte been in professional football management now? My fear is that a sentimental feel good factor is in danger of clouding people's judgement on Wotte's career. Anyway, one has made one's point and one trusts the new management to make the right decision.
  21. Thank you Mr Liebherr. I trust you have the phone numbers for Mssrs Le Tissier and Keegan? (well, you did say you want to re-engage the fans)
  22. Indeed. We need to get the manager decision right from 'day 1'...Wotte doesn't need any 'chances'...he's been in the game long enough for the new owner to be able to judge his competency levels against that of other possible candidates.
